  1. Tru Oil is spectacularly good for the neck, gives a lovely feel.
  2. Flexsteels are my fave D'addario strings. I only have a couple of sets left. DR Highbeams were my choice for a while, as like the Flexsteels, they lasted well and for me, sounded similar.
  3. Totally relate to everything you've said Jack.😀 I'm facing the prospect of loading up,the car tonight and then a forty five minute drive for a social club gig🙄 The evening will also include Mustang Sally and 500 miles.
  4. We were moderating at the same time. I've edited the title and pm'd Mr Ambient.
  5. I stopped going years back, mostly due to it always ending up being a constant round of twelve bar blues type stuff, while an Eric Clapton type wannabee showed us all what a total rock God he was and that we were so lucky to be supporting him
  6. Personally not so keen on Badass. I'm a fan of the Babicz and have them on two of my P basses. They are so well constructed, easy to adjust and as others have said, no finger damaging protrusions. When I want a more traditional looking replacement, then I go for the Gotoh unit.
  7. So looking forward to seeing this project's progress.
  8. I had that problem with a bass (not an upright though) that I was working on yesterday. It was a tuner with a wobbly head that was the culprit.
  9. Seems like you've spotted a problem then. A few strokes of a file, if your confident and it should be sorted.
  10. I found that just Tru oil worked very well.
  11. If you have a shim towards the back of the pocket, then I would remove that.
  12. If everything else is ok, then you won't be wasting money on a fret levelling, that's assuming they are in need of levelling. Have you checked them with a straight edge/fret rocker?
  13. Welcome smudge, enjoy your time here.
  14. You win geeky, anorak fact of the week Performance is one of my favourite albums .
  15. What great pics and memories for you
  16. Mark recently purchased one of my much loved P basses. A total gent to deal with and a real pleasure to meet. I have no hesitation in recommending him as one of the Bass Chat good guys.
  17. Don't spoil Lozz's thread by making it political, it will just get locked.
  18. Love the look of them but all of mine have lived in the case and not on the bass.
  19. I was so impressed with the products and their support of BC bass bashes, that they were the company I approached when setting up my repair/set up business. Have to say that the support for their dealers/traders is also exceptionally good.
  20. I had a couple of dings like that on the P bass body that I'm currently working on. Completely removed them using the damp cloth and soldering iron method. Also, I'm intending to stain and Tru oil the headstock on my build and have found plenty of internet posts claiming that it can't be done. I've not found out why though and suspect that it might well be yet another internet myth. This video was made by someone else who shared my suspicion
