1. congrats and well done
2. If I lived in Nottingham, was more aggressive and could do b.v.s I would deffo be your man.
3. Worked on the three james tracks last night. They all seemed very straight forward, infact Getting Away With It was a good lesson in disipline. It's just four chords repeated over and over and to make it more interesting I initially started putting in little runs etc. But fairly quickly realised it was better just playing the roots and nailing the timing. It's surprisingly difficult sometimes to keep things simple and not try to "improve" it.
4. love Rythmn Stick, but so glad it's not on the list that I've got to learn.
How long have you got
The gig isn't til october

So plenty to learn, but looking forward to the challenge.
6. My wife thinks I'm a sad ole git for liking ozric, but I just do. I tend to play it when I'm home alone, as it's a bit of a guilty pleasure in this household. Loving the bass on ayuredic. Sure I read that the original bass player had some sort of manic condition, which the other band members thought was was a major influence on his very fast and hectic playing.
7. Pleased for you and it sounds like a good set list.
8. Started rehearsing this last week with the band, didn;t much fancy doing it, but ended up really enjoying it and got it grooving quite nicely, (but tooooo many guitarists widdling about when they shouldn't have been).
9. Don't shout matey I've got a wicked head ache tonight. I can recommend Giants of Bass by Stuart Clayton. Bit of theory and technique, written in a very easy to understand style. The rest of the book covering the styles, techniques and kit used by the the "giants". Also a couple of CD's to play along with. Not one of the cheapies at £19.99, but I think it's good value. Cheers, Gary.
10. Okey doke, will do, thanks for that. Was interested to know whether any BCers had any experience with them though.
11. I have spotted on the Bass Direct site an USB jack lead for a direct route from bass to computer. Anyone tried one? Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated before I hand over my wifes hard earnt. Cheers, Gary.
12. I've got an identical one. They are cracking basses. Love the through neck. Good luck with the sale, I shall watch with interest. I have sometimes thought about selling mine as I don't play it so much these days, but every time that I open the case it's love again. So much better than alot of precisions that I've tried (and I love fenders).
13. Last night for some reason i had the bass line from Ramble On (led zepp), stuck in my head. So I've spent a couple of hours this afternoon working on it. An enjoyable time on what has otherwise been a very miserable day.
14. That looks the business, you should be proud of yourself. Really impressive.
15. I've found the said manual, it covers gp12smx, gp7sm and the ppa range. If you want it, pm me your details and I will forward it on to you. Cheers, all the best Gary.
16. Hi mate, I recently sold my Trace combo, but the buyer left the manual behind. I will have a search for it tomorrow. If I find it I'm happy to post it on to you. Let me know if you are still in need of it. All the best Gary.
17. Cheers Mickey, good description. I'm certainly finding it a challenge.
18. After the recent bbc 4 programmes, I've been on a bit of a prog fest. It's just for fun and the challenge, as the band that I'm with will never play this sort of material. So yesterday afternoon I was listening to Argus by Wishbone Ash and you know how it is, I had to pick up the bass and play along. Got my fingers tied in knots during the second half of Sometime world. Have managed to nail some of it, but it's busy and fast and I think I am going to struggle with it. Anyone familiar with it and able to offer some input? Martin Turners bass playing on the whole album is to mind very impressive. This album along with J P Jones, Chris Squire, John Entwistle and Andy Fraser are what made me pick up a bass all those years back, so it would be good to get this one nailed. All the best, Gary
19. You're right mate, about the former, but don't know about the latter He hardly ever gets a mention.
20. Good luck mate, hope it goes well.

Yamaha BB's

attachment=17852:yamaha.jpg] I'm always impressed with Yamaha instruments. I've got a couple of their basses and an acoustic guitar. My BB is I think, an eighties model, with through neck and emg pickup. Haven't played it much over the last year or so, but rehearsed with it just before Christmas. It was a pleasure to play again and sounded great through my shuttle six and mark bass cabs.
22. Another beaut of a Wal. Nice.
23. Even after all these years my enthusiasm is greater than my ability and that's just the way I like it. ^_^
24. Strap locks, a wide padded strap. My youngest bought me a Ukele; just need to find how to tune it and then I can torment all of our visitors.
25. I recently upgraded a Squier jazz with Wizard pickups, it was a major improvement and money well spent (about £70.00 for the pair). Did the job myself. I managed to balls it up, first attempt, but after seeking advice on here got it sorted. Since carried out a few other moods. It's a great feeling of satisfaction to have completed it sucessfully and not spent out on additional labour costs. Also the best way to get to know the in and outs or the instrument. P.S. It's a good plan to apply screening to the cavities whilst you have it all stripped out. I didn't so will have to remove it all again to do it. Good luck. Gary.
