I get to work on a fair few Epiphone guitars. I have found that it's the electronics that let them down. So my advice would be to budget for replacement pots and wire.

At home, I can get a Jazz to sound just the way I want it but have never quite got it nailed in a band situation. I've stopped trying in recent years and stick with my P basses.

My experience is the same as Lozz's. The level of protection was impressively good but I really struggled to lift it.

A band I was in a few years back did Is this Love, like you, I loved playing it. Simple enough but yes the space is a lovely thing.
