  1. My enthusiasm is still greater than my ability and I'm ok with that.
  2. It was a great final gig Rich, thanks for asking.
  3. Thanks Rich, wish Mrs Grangur well.
  4. Yep it's always the G in there. Thanks.
  5. Thanks discreet. I am actually feeling sad about the demise of DefunkT, I've mostly really enjoyed my time with them and at five years or so, it's the longest dep I've ever done Hope the next one is as much fun, sure it will be but first, another set list to learn.
  6. Tonight at the Lord Haig, Hertford. 9-12 and then we are no more.
  7. A bump for the weekend and then I might well withdraw the ad and keep it for a while longer. It won't be a hardship.
  8. I would say playing fretless at home has helped with my fretted playing. First off, I have to say that I'm not up to gigging standard on fretless but getting used to playing at home, on my unlined fretless and really listening, as opposed to looking at my fingers, has proved invaluable for when gigging my fretted basses. It has helped for example if the stage is dark, or I've been blinded momentarily by the stage lights and also I don't need to spend the whole gig looking at the fretboard
  9. Hard to tell from the pic but it could be that the slot is radiused whereas the base of the nut is not. If it is that, then some shaping would be required or a different nut.
  10. Bit too much of a trek and I have a gig in the evening, so it's a no from me Will look forward to your report of it.
  11. Pm me the details and I'll sort it for you.
  12. Like you say Jack, it is going to be a difficult question to answer. I was recently repairing a customers guitar amp, different thing entirely, I know but it was making the frying bacon type sound. Anyway, the problem was a loose/dry solder joint on the board.
  13. I recently bought a couple of sets from Rothko and Frost. Good price and great service.
  14. Proper nut files are the best option but it's quite an outlay unless they are going to get regular use. Prior to having the real deal, I used a few inches of an old string (of the required gauge) super glued to a piece of dowel.
