1. I would say playing fretless at home has helped with my fretted playing. First off, I have to say that I'm not up to gigging standard on fretless but getting used to playing at home, on my unlined fretless and really listening, as opposed to looking at my fingers, has proved invaluable for when gigging my fretted basses. It has helped for example if the stage is dark, or I've been blinded momentarily by the stage lights and also I don't need to spend the whole gig looking at the fretboard
2. Hard to tell from the pic but it could be that the slot is radiused whereas the base of the nut is not. If it is that, then some shaping would be required or a different nut.
3. Bit too much of a trek and I have a gig in the evening, so it's a no from me Will look forward to your report of it.
4. Pm me the details and I'll sort it for you.
5. Like you say Jack, it is going to be a difficult question to answer. I was recently repairing a customers guitar amp, different thing entirely, I know but it was making the frying bacon type sound. Anyway, the problem was a loose/dry solder joint on the board.
6. I recently bought a couple of sets from Rothko and Frost. Good price and great service.
7. Proper nut files are the best option but it's quite an outlay unless they are going to get regular use. Prior to having the real deal, I used a few inches of an old string (of the required gauge) super glued to a piece of dowel.
8. Now I want a Jazz again Great job Discreet, impressive.
9. Looking great. Ive been planning a tru oil finished pj build. I've got the pickups but still need to source everything else . Where did you get the body?
10.
when we were looking for a drummer earlier this year, we thought we found one. Could talk the talk, lived fairly close and was available. He had some demo stuff up which sounded good as well. Reading further down he stated that because he has been out of playing live for a while he only owns cymbals and sticks, but (and this is the killer) would consider buying a full kit if any gigs came along. Consider????? You cant blame the website for that, although maybe the parents.
Got to love drummers.
11.
Win-win, really. And if you keep it, we know where it is and there is always the possibility of it being available in future.
A bump.
12. Don't think it's the fault of that particular site, more that there are an awful lot of delusional dreamers, who think they want to be in a band.
