1. Truly lovely Andy, amazing work as always.
2.
Thanks - I thought I was going a bit mad at first. Once I had the bridge off I thought "Aha, that's the culprit" Was glad it was an easy fix! Didn't want to face the prospect of getting a soldering iron anywhere near an untouched 64!
Yes, that is unnerving. Had to do some work on a sixties pick guard a while back, I was certainly sweating.
3. Yes, I've encountered that at least it's a nice simple fix. Well done
4. What a good looking rig. Bet the 64 sounds mighty fine through that.
5. Ive worked on a couple of their P basses, once set up properly they played very well. For a budget instrument frets were good and all the hardware worked. The wiring and pots would be my first upgrade.
6.
Just seen this Gary. What a beauty. I won't need the Viagra tonight.
you probably won't mate, if you are looking at guitar porn at 2.14 am
7.
Personally i didnt like my BB2 much. Lovely cab, just didnt produce the tone i wanted. This was with a MB F1 head and also a GK MB800. I could quite easily have lived with it had i no other options, as it did a great job as far as volume goes and was so light, but it just felt very low end heavy to my ears.
I was lucky enough to buy Dave's cab and I liked it more than Dave did right from the off. I have to say though, that I like it even more now as it just seems to be sounding better each time I gig it. Not just my opinion either, it has been mentioned by band mates and other bass players in the audience.

You will find that it gets even better. My BF cabs have certainly done so, the sound at this weekend's gig was just so good. The most happy I've been with my sound in all these years of gigging.
9. Morning Phil and welcome. Well done on an an interesting and detailed introduction. Will look forward to seeing some pics. You're best off hosting your pics on Flickr or photobucket etc and then copying and pasting on to here. Enjoy the forum and maybe we will catch up one of these days at a gig (I'm in Herts).
10. I've had a few different Yamaha basses and guitars but not an Attitude. Maybe I ought to give one a try. Very nice by the way
11. Haven't gigged since New Years Eve but then I really enjoyed River Deep, Mountain High, the Four Tops and Supremes version. First gig of the year tonight, so will report back if there is a new fave
12. ...and just to feed your GAS, here's my fretless
13. You need a P, don't fight it. I've already played mine today
14. Presumably you've checked all the solder joints? I had an intermittent problem on one of my vintage Fenders, I thought it was a pup problem but turned out to be a solder joint, that looked sound but actually wasn't. It took a very close inspection with a magnifier to spot it.
15. Nice find. I've had a few from this era and as you have discovered they are something special.
16.
Excuse my ignorance but what makes them (Spitfire) so expensive compared to general ones? Does he have to catch the tortoise or something?
Well for a start it looks much more like the lovely vintage tort, rather than a lot of the modern stuff which looks more like a slice of Salami.
17. I set up and maintain instruments for a couple of schools, so I get to see and work on plenty of Squier basses and guitars. Some of them have come to me in dreadful condition but once cleaned and set up, each and everyone has been perfectly playable. If they can survive the abuse dished out by secondary school age kids, they are tough enough for gigging
18.
http://s1058.photobucket.com/user/Guycrussell/media/image_2.jpeg.html?o=0 It's just possible I might have uploaded a picture of my tele. Apologies if I haven't
That is a real good looker and heaps of proper mojo.
19. The Wal is off to a new owner very soon. I shall miss it but I know it's going to be loved
20. Thanks for all the kind words, pointers and advice fellow Bass Chatters. Looks like it's sold.
21.
I couldn't resist a tele purchase in December. I had a 66 sunburst in the early 80s. Long gone. Now have a 66 in blonde. Even better and very hard to put down.
Pics are required you know.
22.
That's just about exactly the Tele Custom I'd like. Natural finish, Strat-type pot knobs and (probably) the straight italic 'custom' logo. A Mick Green job, in other words. .
For you Sir Skank, the headstock. 23. Wal Custom 1981. Complete with original hardcase. I’m pretty sure that I will end up regretting this decision but having recently got back into guitar playing and having made an expensive purchase, I’ve decided to sell my lovely Wal. A very attractive looking instrument, with Padauk facings and a Mahogany core. Signed off by Pete (the fish). A great example and not overly heavy, at around 10lbs 10oz. I have recently completed restoring this bass, as when I got it, it was very much in need of some TLC. It sounded in fine form but wasn’t looking so good. A previous owner had applied some sort of brush on finish that I just couldn’t live with. I therefore removed it and after much preparation, applied the finish that you can see in the photos. All hardware and electrics function as they should. I have replaced the bridge screws and the little domed marker studs set into the body, adjacent to the control knobs. These items were all purchased from Wal Headquarters. Frets are still good, as is the board. There are signs of use as to be expected with an instrument of this age but everything works as it should. Truss rod functions perfectly. The pre amp is a masterpiece and gives so many tonal options. This Wal has the volume control with a built in on/off and I noticed at rehearsal a few nights back, that strangely, it has a bit of buzz when the switch is in the off position, it disappears as soon as it is switched on and the volume turned up. Currently strung with a nice new set of DR Fat Beams 45-105. The case is in good shape, although one catch is faulty, it works but has to helped along a little. My price is £3,550 Payment by bank transfer or cash on collection (Hertfordshire). Although I would prefer collection, I will post if necessary but it will be with a courier of my choice and fully insured. If you require this let me know and I will get a price. If any additional photos or info is required, just let me know.
