1. My very lovely pre CBS, 1963 Fender P Bass. It started life with the Fender see through blonde finish, which was probably removed back in the late sixties. The coating that was applied at the time has protected the wood extremely well. Hard case is included in the sale, these are becoming very rare, particularly ones in good condition. This one is very good, with all the catches and hinges functioning as they should. So, looks wise it's not a museum quality instrument but it is a top quality pre CBS Fender, structurally sound, no nasty surprises or damage and is truly a great player. Anyway, the spec: Ash body. Maple neck, with Rosewood fretboard. Width at nut 42 mm. Fret board radius 7.25" All original frets, still in superb condition. I have recently fitted an original Fender Tort guard from a 59 P bass. This guard is in exceptional condition, with no breaks or cracks and is almost completely flat. It's very rare to find one all intact. Original ash trays and screws. Original pots, cabling and pick ups. All original hardware, with a couple of exceptions, detailed down below. Non original bits: The tuner fixing screws are replacement Pure Vintage Fender. The knobs are replacement, from the Pure Vintage Fender range. The Hootenanny strap button on the rear of headstock is a replacement from the Pure Vintage Fender range. The headstock was also over sprayed and therefore the decal still looks great. This is a lovely instrument to play. The pick ups are warm sounding, very punchy and powerful. With a reading of 11k ohms. The fret work is impressively good. I've set it up with a low action, which is buzz free. Truss rod functions perfectly in both directions. The neck does not suffer from any dead spots. The fret board is a very attractive, dark piece of timber and is in excellent condition. I have noticed that if I don't play it for a few days the tone pot crackles a bit. A couple of turns back and forth sort it out, so I'm not considering replacing it. EDIT. Just sprayed this up with Deoxit and it is now completely crackle free My price is £4,400 or very near offer. I haven't quoted a postage price, as I would be much prefer any potential purchaser to come on over to my place in Hertfordshire, have a brew, inspect the bass and try it out. If you don't want to travel and posting is required, then we can discuss the options
 2.
Do you know what type of wood it is?
Morning Roger. Sorry, should have detailed that in my ad. It is Agathis.
 3. Blimey that is amazing. Someone needs to give it the relic treatment
 4. Lovely instruments and those pups are so versatile, giving so many options. BC'er Nick Smith was round at my place a while back with his one, which I had a play on, impressed.
 5. A sunburst Squier Vintage Modified P bass body, in excellent, almost as new condition. There is a slight crack in the poly coating below the neck pocket but you have to really look to see it. If a lightweight bass is important to you then this would be a good choice, as the finished weight with neck and electrics etc was under 8lbs. £ 95.00 I'm happy for it to be collected from my place in Herts or I can post. I would prefer to use my trusty courier, who so far have never let me down with a delivery but their minimum charge is £15.99. Parcel Force is a little cheaper at £11.99. Bank Transfer or cash on delivery
 6. I have the same with one of mine but the other is fine, both are the same age
 7. Gents, although it's well meant I'm sure, Mark doesn't need to be repeatedly told that he shouldn't sell. He has made a decision and decided that a sale is the best course of action for him.
 8.
PMed. I'm from Gary's neck of the woods.
You're a fine fella Rich, thanks
 9.
I might have to be a tentative for this now. My re-re-rescheduled surgery is now scheduled for this coming Monday (I almost got out of it again with the doctors strike though), and I'm not supposed to drive for 2 weeks afterwards. It's going to be a cracking day, and if I'm anywhere close to capable I'll be there.
Hope it goes well Nick
 10.
Gary, so sorry to hear that. Surely a pleasant day out amongst like minded folks (albeit sans heavy gear) would be a perfect spirit raiser, release endorphins and promote more rapid healing...? Worth a try with Mrs Mac...
I like your thinking, now if I could just get her to drive me around the M25, all would be good
 11. I can only comment on the Fender Rumble. I've had my one eight years now and it has been used most days. No problems, crackly pots or anything to complain about. Can get a decent tone out of it and more than enough volume for home use. Simple but efficient eq section, aux in and head phone socket, make it a good choice.
 12. I was very much hoping to come along this year but recovery from recent surgery has been a bit slow and my wife is refusing to let me out to play
 13. Glad to hear that you are happy. I'm going to move this thread to the amps/cabs forum.
 14.
Gaffa or packing tape dabbed all over works well
15. A couple of months back I was playing a wedding gig in a cow shed. The sound I was hearing from my very good rig was just awful, I hated it and I know from past experience, that it can be a confidence zapping experience. Thing is though, I know the sound out front was good, no one else was worried and the dance floor was full.
 16.
I'm still looking forward to doing a gig where I couldn't tell you the names and home address of all those in the audience. Guess what I ticked.
Brilliant Rich, you gave me my first proper laugh of the day, thanks
 17.
Aye it was a bit of an article, wasn't it!
It was but an enjoyable one. Also, love the Peterbuilt, what a looker
 18.
My 65p with my B15n getting all Jameson....
Looks cool. Lovely dark fret board
