1. Chris Squire made a Fender J sound just like his Ric
2. Wife was out this evening and I spent a fair bit of it watching Yes on You tube. It was a good evening
3. I'm not sure, not being much of a pedal user but hi, haven't seen you about for a while Hope you are well.
4.
Something I didn't tell Lee before sending the bass, was there's a small token of personalisation on the headstock. Lee, said in another thread, how the bass he sold was one christened by his daughter as "the Family Stone bass", as their family name is Stone. So I took the liberty of customising another well known logo and adding that to the headstock. Thankfully Lee likes the addition. I was just a little unsure about doing it.
Love it, that looks great Rich.
5. Well done Hugh and Hugh's luthier friend A happy ending.
6. I was attempting to sort the link but failed, probably because I'm using iPad at the moment
7. Having very little neck relief helps with that fretless sound.
8. Moved from incorrect place to maybe the right place, couldn't decide between OT or General but it's music related. I'm not whistling Mustang Sally
9. Bit of a result I would have thought.
10. My seventies P basses have all had the patent numbers, under the the Fender part of the decal. So I would investigate closely if the numbers weren't present. Like Gareth said pics would be good.
11. I wouldn't expect a serial number on the headstock Check out some headstock pics, if you can't find any I have photos of ones that I've owned, that I can mail to you.
12.
Another JG bass based blog up on the site today... Enjoy... http://walbasshistor...ry-mk-1-jg.html
I did enjoy, as always.
13. Surprised to see that you consider the quarter pounds to not have punch. HAving said that I've not tried them in a Jazz but I have fitted them to a couple of P basses and they were very punchy. The best sounding Jazz that I've owned, was a Fender 66 with original pups. So I would happily recommend those. I have fitted Wizard pups to a couple of VM Jazzes and they were a worthwhile upgrade.
14. Jack's point is very valid. I would further add that if most of your playing will be in the sitting position, then a Precision is definitely preferable to a Jazz. Best of luck with it and hope it helps in your recovery.
