2.
Many thanks gents, the help is very much appreciated. I guess I'll be fine as long as I wear rubber gumboots . Thanks again, Karl.
s You Northern chaps have some strange stage wear.
 3.
No, I feel morally obliged to advise the OP on his errors.
I feel morally obliged to leave you to it then
 4.
WOW you dont half have some stonking gear Gary
Thanks Paul.
Stop harassing me mr Mac! GAS.........
You've harassed me before now, so it's my turn
 5. Welcome, good to have you here.
 6. It is amazing how the page count racks up on some threads, this one being a classic example. I'm not moderating as such, so this isn't an instruction but more of a suggestion: The OP has plenty of good info here to refer back to if he chooses to do so. For all you patient souls who have tried and are very obviously becoming frustrated, perhaps it's time to give it up.
 7.
Fair enough, i forgot that Alex had posted that. All makes sense although i still think its a bit over the top. Not a reflection on BF, just that this Tim bloke seems a bit of a gear tart to me. Is he trying to compete with the much slagged off Adam Clayton to see how many basses he can use on one gig without anyone noticing the difference :-)
Dave should you be accusing other players of being a gear tart?
 8. I suspect that you will be very happy, they are seriously good little amps. Great core tone and capable of huge amounts of loudness
 9. Our one and only festival appearance for this year was on Sunday at Ware in Herts, Rock in the Priory and it was fun. Extremely well organised and I hope we get to do it again next year. 10.
and ... I have just been there this morning!
Did you visit the coffee shop? They actually serve a really decent espresso
 11.
He is right about the chrome & metal tapes: they sounded so much better than the standard ones (assuming the source was good quality)... But, portability? Yeah, smaller than a CD, but you can put a lot more music in a CD these days. And let's not start with digital media players that can hold gigabytes of data... Durability? Unless you only use them in your high quality deck, you will get them chewed sooner or later, and your high quality deck won't be the 'portable' one, rendering the portability argument invalid. Who wants to listen to tapes these days, really? long rewind/forward, can't skip/find tracks, takes long to record... When our singer said tapes were 'cool' and he was going to look into issuing a tape version of our last album I thought he was joking! But one thing I see in common among all these tape enthusiasts: they weren't around when tapes were what we used everyday as it was the only really portable medium, and the only way to make your own compilations... I don't miss tapes at all. I still have a very nice Sony deck from 1995-1996. Maybe I should clean the heads and ensure the belts are in good condition and sell it to some crazy person who prefers tapes. I also have a VCR in great condition
I've recently sold a couple of old tape decks on Ebay, both buyers were very enthusiastic and happy to pay
 12.
Welcome aboard! I was born just down the road in WGC in the QE2 which I understand is shrinking fast...
The QE2 is being reborn, better, more efficient and erm...smaller
 13. Just to remind BC'ers, I also have a 400, that I'm testing out. Give me a shout if you would like to check it out. The one I have has some slight cosmetic damage, so Leszek is willing to let it go for a discounted price.
 14.
It would be quite feasible to select an excellent setlist of, for example, obscure and for most people unknown northern soul tunes and have an audience drinking and dancing and happy. No need to tell the audience 'covers' or 'original' or anything.
You wouldn't get away with it in Wigan though
 15.
Maybe not the best demo ever done but could give an idea. There's no doubt it's yours: https://youtu.be/-eLXaLvB2K4
Yes, that's mine, thanks
I have played this very bass and it's superb. It's also so light it practically floats away. When I first picked it up it nearly shot it through the ceiling plaster. I was expecting it to be a little heavier. Don't be put off by the fanned frets - it took me exactly one minute to get used to them. They are actually easier to play than non-fanned. Which is the whole point of them, I'm guessing. Lovely even balance across the strings too. A proper hand-made bass for silly money. Great, now I've talked myself into Dingwall GAS.
Thanks Mark, I forgot to mention in my ad, about how easy it is to play with the fanned fret system.
 16. Bass Chatter OBBM is the man for quality cable. Made me a rather lovely instrument cable with right angle plug one end and straight on the other.
 17.
Well that'll teach me to make an attempt at humour based on my pretty much non-existent theoretical knowledge. I couldn't find the "amazing stuff, but waaay over my head" smiley that I needed. Thread moved, as suggested.
It made me chuckle Rich, on what had up to that point, been a chuckle free day
 18.
I think it`s quite refreshing to see a musician who`s not completely hung up on gear and gassing for the next new thing.
Same here
Chris Squire was pretty vague about his stuff.
Examples of a couple musicians, not hung up on kit and who were more interested in just playing, than necessarily what they were playing with. They obviously didn't/don't hang about on Bass Forums
 19. Welcome to the Forum. The Herts bass bash, which you've just missed, is hosted annually in Hatfield, so you won't have far to travel. Good luck with your search for a Spector, lovely instruments that regularly pop up in the For Sale Forum.
 20. Good luck with it Tim, hope it is a success and enjoyable.
 21.
4 pages for this! Wow! It's basic and has been answered countless times in this thread, people playing other people's songs are covering it. If most of the repertoire is covers then they are a cover band. People writting their own songs or having songriters creating material specificaly for them are doing originals. Simple! Nothing to see here, move along and close the thread...
The thread may well have become tedious for some Bass Chatters but that is not sufficient justification for us to close it down. The suggestion to move along should be heeded for those that are bored with it
