  1. No bass acrobatics, just a little riff repeated over the different settings. IMG_2173.MOV
  2. With a little bit of time on my hands at the weekend, I decided to install John's tone switch in my custom P bass. I put this bass together a couple of years back and had been regularly gigging with it, prior to the lock down. This bass has the Fender 62 original pick ups installed and a standard P bass wiring loom that I put together, with CTS pots, switchcraft socket and vintage style, cloth covered cable. The installation was straight forward, I was able to leave the strings on, so it was just a case of removing the pick guard screws and maneuvering the guard out. I chose to unsolder the existing wires to make the necessary connections but they could have just been snipped. Then the original tone pot along with its capacitor was lifted out and the new tone pot switch put in place. The wires were inserted in to the relevant connectors and the screws tightened. Once the guard was back in place, all that remained was to put my original flat top knob on and the job was complete. I've had a couple of days to experiment and play about with the settings, and must say that I'm pleased with this little device. The eye opener for me is the second/B setting, which is the bypass, straight through option. I just loved the aggressive, clanky tone and I know it will work well for me in the band. Moving on to the .047uf (C) gives a much warmer, mellow and very useable, P bass tone. The difference between the .047uf cap and the .1uf (D) is more subtle than when moving from B to C, very useable though and lovely for deep dubby sounding bass. All in all a great little device and a worthwhile upgrade. It'll be staying in my P bass, just hope I get to try it out at a gig at some point. I'm never sure about the value of sound clips but I will post a video clip in a while. If you're listening on decent speakers or through head phones you should get to hear what it does.
  3. Be warned , the next user to start a thread about this ebayer will getting a warning added to their account.
  4. My swamp ash P bass.
  5. @KiOgon is a good choice. No experience with Ironstone but I have installed the Entwistle Neo Jazz pickups for a couple of my customers and they loved them.
  6. Like Stew says, they are decent instruments. I've just been doing some work on one for a customer. The hardware was all good, as were the pick ups. I did some fret work, smoothing the ends and a little levelling. Also upgraded the pots. It played, looked and sounded great.
  7. Many of my BC sales over the years, have been to Europe. It doesn't worry me anymore than posting around the U.K. Like others have said, pack well, use a hardcase and get proper insurance cover.
  8. Sold a guitar on Reverb a few weeks back. It was all painless and unlike Ebay , no tyre kicking numpties to deal with.

Happy to start a feedback thread for @jAzzOvic and to recommend him.. Good comms throughout and a pleasure to deal with.
  10. A very decent Fifties inspired Strat, that I’ve put together. Lovely low action, with just the slightest relief to the neck, makes it easy to play. Sounds like a Strat should sound, the Classic Vibe pickups do a great job. Neck is from a Classic Vibe. I’ve re fretted it with medium gauge frets. There is absolutely no wear. Radius is 9.5” Don’t know the make of tuners but they function perfectly, feel good and hold tuning well. Body is a Squier from 96 and is full thickness. No major dinks, some slight signs of age. All hardware is good and everything functions as it should. Strung with a new set of D’Addario 10’s. No case, so collection preferred. Can post, on the understanding that the neck will be removed, prior to wrapping and boxing up. Cost will be around £17.
  11. I just love the drum break on the track, Road Angel from What Were Once Vices. Always give it a blast at a decent volume.
  12. The Doobies sounded pretty fine with two
  13. What a scary time for you and yours. Good to hear that you're making a good recovery
  14. Not tried milliput but have used super glue/baking soda plenty of times. 👍
  15. I've replaced an awful lot of these switches in customer's Gibsons. They should be good but they're just not.
  16. I would advise you not to cut the G or D strings, use the full length.
  17. That looks great, well done. Bet you're already planning the next one? 😂
  18. I haven’t actually decided which instrument to install this in as yet but as soon as I saw John’s advert on the forum, I knew that it would be a great piece of kit and a worthwhile upgrade. Once I’ve got it installed, I’ll post a review and maybe some sound clips. Meanwhile I can confirm that, as with all of John’s kits, this one looks very neat and tidy, and includes clear, concise installation instructions.
  19. I'm still taking on work, a handover can be done safely. I'm in Herts though You can always pm message if you want to have a chat.
  20. Sorry to hear that it was not a happy ending.
