1. Put this together last week, final tweaks, shielding and set up finished yesterday. Fender P, with G&L SB1 pick up. Babicz full contact bridge from Discreet. One of Kiogon's marvelous wiring looms. Fender Japanese neck. Turned out exactly how I wanted, nice and light at just over 8lb and very loud and punchy thanks to the G&L MFD pup. 2. That's quite a pleasing looking Guitar Rich, good work.
3.
Nice, I absolutely love the black, black, maple look...I'm after a Lakland Bob Glaub in that look, but I'd need to offload first.
Cheers, it is a pleasing look. Just a bit of shielding to be done and then I will be trying it out with the band. Hope you find the Lakland that you fancy.
4.
yes please......pm'ed
Damn you beat me to it
5. I would avoid sand paper and treat yourself to a pack of Micromesh. It is brilliant for fret polishing and a multitude of other polishing/buffing tasks. About a tenner on Ebay will get you good variety, from coarseish to super fine. It really is far superior to sand paper for this sort of work. It also smells lovely
6. My latest P bass, looking forward to gigging it
7. Always a pleasure to deal with Nick and I'm happy to recommend him as one of Bass Chat's best
8. If you've got the readies, I would recommend searching out a 60's or early 70's Fender. If you get a good one, I'm sure you will get on with it. It's what I had to do, to actually enjoy a J bass.
9. I reckon you will love it, I recently treated myself to a 63 and it's a mighty fine instrument. That was definitely an era of awesomeness from Mr Fender
10. Nice one Marvin. Happy to hear that you're enjoying your purchase. I had one of these for a while and thought it was a very decent P. Although the pups were good enough, I was going to install a Wizard set but in the end, I didn't.
11. Precision or Jazz bass bridge, in very good condition, as can be seen in the photos, down below. £ [s]10.50[/s] Now just £10 posted. Bank transfer preferred.
12. Fender Bass Gig Bag. Certainly not a top of the range product but in excellent condition. Not much to tell, it is padded but it is not going to offer a high level of protection. One large zipped pocket. Removable shoulder strap. No damage and the zips are in perfect working order. Just £ 15 inc. P&P Payment by Bank transfer preferred.
13.
Seven posts and nobody has yet referred to it as a Dingray, so allow me.
Good man
14.
Something that's been depressing me lately. It seems everyone I speak to (whether they still play or not) regales me of stories of playing huge gigs, playing on telly, being a member of some band that supported the Beatles or the Who or something, having albums out - everthing like that Me, I've been playing for 30 years this year and I have exactly zero claims to fame, no success, no albums, no support slots - 30 years of gigs to a few people, sometimes a few hundred, but that's it. Maybe I should take the hint :|
Also keep in mind that there are huge numbers of so called musicians who are somewhat delusional. If they are talking to you at a gig, during your break or at the end, it's you that's doing the playing/entertaining now.
15. In the first instance, I would be inclined to take the saddle up slightly.
16. If you fancy doing it yourself and have the tools, it's not a difficult job. If it's just the G string, it may well be a case of just adjusting the bridge saddle very slightly. Where is the buzzing occurring on the fretboard. First few frets, middle section or up past the 12th fret?
17. Great review and great photos as always Discreet Following this review they will probably need to stack them even higher. I predict an HB stampede
