1. I would be inclined to not take too much notice of a Gearslutz discussion. There is an awful lot of nonsense spread about by a mass of so called experts. 70's Fenders usually come in for a total slating as being crap. Truth is, there were many, many good ones. I've got a 74 that is a joy to play. Of course you need to do your homework, try a few and make up your own mind. I haven't had any experience of 80's Fenders but I do have examples from the 60's, 70's and 90's and they are all excellent. I have a couple of Leo Fender 80's G&L's and they are exceptionally good instruments. I reckon they are a sound investment and at the moment are not commanding the prices of Fenders from the same era.
2. I think he was totally brilliant but I don't choose to listen to much of his work.
3. If that was the only damage, I think I would be inclined to repair/disguise it myself and accept a discount. You will have got yourself a seriously good bargain.
4. Thanks for the reminder Trevor, I meant to watch that but then forgot.
5. Love the look of his work and that looks stunning.
6. You're six months out on the date ole chap

9. We have a gig in a social club, new venue for us in Hatfield, Herts. 60+ numbers, so it will definitely be one of my lighter basses for that one. Dingwall or maybe one of the vintage Fenders
10. Someone will get a great instrument for not much dosh. Great basses to gig and with the added bonus of being light in weight and well balanced.
11.
On sale for over 5 years! Is this a record?
Perhaps it has now attained vintage status, I really ought to consider increasing the price.
12. It's not been bumped since October, so in case any of you have been missing this ad, it's bump time
13.
Sunday's gig in a chilly but pleasant venue featuring my one-note per chord bass line.
Not many bass notes but they sounded so right I enjoyed listening.
14. Always fancied trying one of these but yet to encounter one in the flesh
15. I'd be very tempted by this if I hadn't very recently got myself a Schroeder .
