1.
Would it be sacrilege to take the frets out? Cheap for a fretless one of these.
I almost bought a fretless neck for it a few years back but hesitated and missed the opportunity.
2. Despite what a few BC'ers have said, it is still here, so time for a bump
3. Some info for you http://www.glguitars.com/features/neck.asp
4. I had an SB2 with that style of construction. Great instruments, hope you enjoy.
5.
Gary, impressed that you were brave enough to relic it yourself.
Us pioneering spirits lead and others follow mate
6. I've used the same pick for every gig over the last five years. It is now very road worn and therefore desirable
7. I've just I had a listen to it via my hi fi, sounded fine to me and suited the number. Could hear JT loud and clear. It's a number I would like to add to our band's set list.
8. Welcome Matt. Hope you enjoy the forum and all things bass related.
9. My turn to sell something to Harry this time and it was a stress free transaction again. One of the real fine BC'ers to deal with
10.
Oooh, what's the wood on the Mk1? Cherry?
It's lovely isn't it?
11. Welcome to the forum MrRubbish. Up to you of course but you are more likely to get some interest, if you include a bit more info, at the very least the colour, some photos and your location.
12. I've fairly successfully aged pick guards in the past. Plenty of info online on the various methods. Worth a try, unless you are happy to spend the dosh on the Spitfire one.
13. Wonder why they went with the shorter scale. Cheers Fran. Have a find day out there
14. That's interesting what you were saying about the Ibanez fanned fret thing. What is that they've not got right Fran? Just curious, I'm certainly not considering jumping ship from Dingwall.
15.
The passive sound of Pro Wal sounds just as good as its active version IMO. you'll get more tonal variations with an active circuit and perhaps a bit more pop, but the Wal sound, like Gary said is still there. I actually have a parts Wal bass i'm trying to put together and tested a Pro PUP that I acquired. If you want to get an idea of sound, here is a little thing I put together when i had test wires and such......believe the way i had it wired the pickup coils are in series (i show how i wired it in the beginning of the vid)....also the instrument jack is directly connected to the PUP so its as if everything is wide open. Will look forward to seeing and hearing the finished article ...........and time for a bump
16.
Wal all happened whilst I was not in the UK. They look a bit odd/naff like the JayDee things. What makes them that special? Good to play? Sound doesnt seem anything special from these examples. Enlighten me!
Tempting to move this one in to that other thread
17. For the ones who say that a Wal can't be used for rock/blues
18. Well done Trevor, good work Will have a proper listen later, just had a whizz through.
