1. No argument from me.
2. He is a very fine fellow, who makes great wiring kits and is a forum member.
3.
Sorry to report that he was ever so slightly patronising about string tensions. And further to previous comments the 'lad' in there didn't seem to have much of a clue. I'm guessing from the amount of music shops I've seen disappear its a very tough business - you need to be polite with well trained staff.
Think he can maybe get a bit over enthusiastic for some Our very own Marcus Bell is a staff member, well he was when I paid a visit.
4.
They're a bit pricey but I've been thinking about getting one of these. Being PJB I would think the build quality is good. Are you happy with it? Did you get it from Bass Direct?
I think they are pricey but then the quality is good. I didn't get it from Bass Direct as I bought it used.

NBD!

Splendid looker, welcome to the world of the P
6. Recently and for the foreseeable, I will mostly be taking the lightest.
7.
Aged blonde and proper tort.
I'm with Discreet on this one More importantly though, it has to be what you like, not us lot.
8.
Put it between two heavy sheets of glass in the sunlight. Leave it a while. Sorted.
Might have to wait until next Spring though
9.
How about the scratchplate though? Seriously though, did you heat it whilst it was screwed to the guitar or off the guitar with some freestyle bending? (if that's a thing)
No, you certainly want it off the guitar.
10. I had success using a hairdrier and some gentle persuasion .
11.
I like the look of those, how does it sound?
I'm impressed with it Rob. It certainly gives IPads and IPods etc. a boost. I've tried a little bit of recording my bass using it onto Audacity on the P.C. which worked well. When using it to play bass and listen via headphones, I've found that I have to back off the volume and gain and also keep the bass lowish, otherwise there is a little too much distortion. Be interesting to know whether things can be turned up more, if using the Phil Jones headphones.
12. I just treated myself to a Phil Jones Headphone amp. Covers all the requirements that you listed.
13. Another BC'er that I'm happy to recommend. Very helpful, friendly and a man who knows how to pack a bass for safe transportation.
14. I guess if it was me and really couldn't decide, I would be making a list of the pro and cons and considering practicalities. Also I would be thinking about where I would most likely be using it the most e.g. If I knew that most of my gigs were to be in cramped pub type situations, with difficult load in/outs, then I wouldn't be going for a big valve amp and an 8x10" set up.
15.
Fingers, strings, pickups/electrics, amp, cab. I agree quality cables are important, which is why I buy from obbm, a member of this lounge. But do cables have a major influence on tone? In my opinion, no.
Same for me. Purchase from obbm. I also agree that that cables don't have an influence on tone. Although of course, a decent cable will accurately transmit the lovely tone, generated by your choice of instrument and strings etc.
16. I'm sure we all experience this at some point. I most certainly have. On the plus side though, it has always inspired me to try harder or work at improving etc.
17.
To be fair, I wouldn't know what to do to solo over SOTW!!
Nor did he Rob
18. Assuming they rehearsed, why oh why didn't one of his band mates, just say "NO" It's bad enough hearing SOTW again but with a slap bass solo...no no no
19. Another entertaining review Mr.Discreet, good work
20. You won't need to, unless you fancy upgrading the pots. If you do, give Kiogon a shout. He makes up high quality kits, consisting of everything you need. It will drop right in and you won't even need to solder your new pups in, as there is a connector which will allow you to screw the cables in.
21. Not a song that I like but I would like to have written it.
22.
One thing I noticed with the fan frets is I only really notice them when I stare at the fretboard. Otherwise it just feels natural to me.
Yes, exactly the same for me.
