and now i'm in a Budgie tribute band...... you and I must have simular tastes then Burke apparently is an odd one, I havn't met him, but i have met Tony Bourge, Ray Philips, Pete Boot, and Simon Lees, all nice guys. Let me know when you are gigging I will do my damndest to be there!!!
No worries! I usually post when we are playing on the gig section here anyway. Next one is The Vaults in Eastwood Nottingham, Sat 6th Oct. Here's our band website with remainding gigs but The Greyhound gig is a doubt now... http://www.inforthekill.webeden.co.uk/
2.
First gig (other than about 3 local pub gigs) I ever went to .......... You'll love this The band members were - Robert Plant , Jimmy Page , John Bonham and John Paul Jones. I wish I'd appreciated it more than I actually did at the time.
Where was that? I aw them at knebworth in 1979.
3.
Yes I saw Gillan too at Essex Uni and Budgie at the Winning Post, Witton. I remember Budgie as one if the best live bands I've seen. But I've seen Burke Shelley interviewed on TV in recent years and sadly thought he came across as a bit of a....berk. 4.
Wishbone Ash, Fairfield Halls Croydon. 1975 or thereabouts. With my schoolmate Barry Butler. His brother picked us up afterwards. Happy days.
I used to play in a Wishbone Ash tribute band! My first gig was Automatic Fine Tuning at the Ritz Cinema Long Eaton, Nottingham late 1976, followed by Rush + Stray, Birmingham Odeon June 1977. AFT still my fave gig!
5.
I feel at home on a rickenbacker.
Yep same here, I have got an old Fender Jazz now as well, but I always seem to use the Rick, it just feels right somehow. Mind you the Jazz could do with a re-fret. I'm glad you got sorted out. Here are my pair below:
6. I only have the one Rick.......but I am addicted to it!
7. I am a vintage gear fan too, welcome to the site Alex.
8. Mob Rules is by far my fave Black Sabbath album, although i'm not a big fan. The guitarist in our band is also "Tony IOU" in SackSabbath (Black Sabbath tribute).
9. This is great news , i'm really chuffed to bit's for ya. It's a great feeling isn't it?
10. Stunning! (ok i'm also not really a fan of the "I will kill you voice" much either) but I love the track and playing. I'll be recommending this to my mate at work tonight, he'll love it.
11.
Chambo only really does all valve. His mate John Wood only lives around the corner from me and does SS, valve, transformer rewinds, the lot.
I only use both these guy's and I can highly recommend both of them. Chambo serviced an old Sound City head a while back. John Wood has serviced two pedals and my Trace Elliot rig (now sold).
12. Let me be the first to greet you then Jom, welcome!
13. Greetings Dave, from another Nottingham geezer
14. 5mm? you can drive a bus under that I'd say that was very high. I like mine set as low as possible.
15. I prefer to stand left side of the drummers hi hat so I can hear it clearly in my right ear, and the bass amp slightly to my left side.
16. Sorry this gig has had to be cancelled due to our drummer having suspected food poisoning
17. Yes Those Vintage Tele guitars are good. My mate who play's in Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash and ex-Showaddywaddy guitarist (Danny Willson) has one of those, it sounds cool, but I found it had quite a fat neck. It is NOT the thinline version though, that may be different.
18. If you only intend to spend about £200, then the Squire is probably the best option. Some Fenix tele's are nice if you can find one. Here's the best Squire I have seen and only £10 over your budget....... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3a7659a9ea I have the Strat version of this Tele below in the same colour, It sounds and plays great, and I use it for recording and for messing around on....you could do a lot worse! They do different colours of this guitar. The actually play and sound better than you might think. 19. I would like to return to valve stuff too. Welcome to the site.
