2.
The Line 6 Echo Park is the best tap delay that you can pick up for close to that money. But I would go for the EHX Deluxe Memory Boy, personally. Tap tempo is pretty much essential on bass, which rules out a lot of great-sounding delays. With the ones we've got left, in the 'budget' price range, the EHX box is the one to have IMO.
Well the Line 6 was what I suggested given the budget (see the Ebay link). If "skidder652003" was to raise the budget however, i'd also go for a EH Memory Man, given I own 2 EH vintage pedals myself (not delay pedals though).
 3.
I might have been wrong then. Not the first time
Not necessarily, because the model you are looking at is not the same as mine, mine is a 4001. I'd still go for the Ric myself still, but it's horses for courses I guess. The only Warwick's i've played on had fat necks and seemed rather heavy , so not suited to me at all, as I said before though horses for courses, there's plenty of happy Warwick player's out there.- Good luck!
 4.
This is a cracking Jazz with a beautiful nitro finish ( originally sonic blue but faded to a sort of sea foam green) and a really fast neck. As good as a Fender custom shop Jazz IMHO (new prices for Bacchus 62Js are similar to Fender CS too so £499 was a bargain! )
Clarky???? who is this imposter! Nice bass by the way!
 5.
I might be wrong, but IIRC there was one on eBay recently that took months to sell? Having said that, I'd certainly choose the Ric also, but for the reasons above, I can understand why others might not
Well i've had loads of offers for mine, it is an old one mind......
 6. You can bet which one i'd go for! Anyway, if you ever come to sell it you'll have no problem with the Ricky it's a classic that will always sell.
 7. How about this, it seems to do everything including tap tempo..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Line-6-Tone-Core...=item2eb797ec15
 8.
I'm particularly partial to any note I play in tune on my fretless. Although if pushed I'm going to go with F#
I like this also, and an harmonic played at the 12th fret E string
 9.
Thanks for the welcomes and the help guys. I can just about handle Mr Hood, it's those 'Merrymen' you have to watch out for
PM replied to sir.....
 10.
The more cynical mind would perhaps think that the biggest reason for bringing this legislation out in the first place were based on £'s... http://www.barrowbc.gov.uk/Docs/licensingfees20090926.doc
I must be one of those cynical people then.... isn't always about ££££££'s ?
 11.
If space is tight, you can always have the boom coming from the side-it makes it a little less likely to get knocked. Also,if you are concerned about people thinking they can have a go,simply remove the mic from the stand when you're not playing.
Thanks for that advice. I have moved the mic boom and used it from the side before, I hit it myself. I always mute the mic on the mixer now at the interval and at the end of the set.
 12.
One thing to remember is that those kinds of mics will pick up everything, so when you clear your throat or curse at that bum note you just hit, it will go through the PA system too. Liam
Good point and worth thinking about.
 13.
ANd you may find that you look like Madonna....
Yikes! I hadn't thought of that! maybe i'd best stick with the old SM58 afterall then......
 14.
Sennheiser do some good radio microphones. It's the same set up as a guitar transmitter type system. Headset into transmitter; receiver, via xlr into desk. Adjust levels to suit venue etc. The one thing to watch out for is the frequency of your transmitter receiver. The government are selling off some/most of the frequencies covered by some of the units. It may be worth looking at going digital, but it may cost you.
Thanks! but what model Sennheiser would you recommend? What kind of price are we taking here? cheers Tony.
 15. I use an industry standard Shure SM58 mic for vocals. Most but not all places we play tend to be pubs and small clubs. I like my mic but.....at some venues where space is a premium the mic stand sometimes gets knocked about, i've even had folks singing down the mic doing a bl**dy karaoke at the interval cheeky bu*gers! (cuz I forgot to mute it on the mixer) Quite a while ago I saw Sammy Hagar using what appeared to be a wireless mic, the one that goes over your head, which freed him up for playing and moving about. It got me thinking that this could be the solution. Question...are these any good?, if yes, what would you recommend?and what extra equipment would I need? I use a Yamaha powered mixer at the mo'. I'm ok at the minute, but I may pick something up maybe next year? Do they feedback? pop? crackle? pack up? Any help/advice i'd be very grateful...over to you guy's.
 16.
We use a couple of passive 8s for monitors and even rehearsing full band with just vox going in and they cope fine. If space is an issue they'll do the job but the 12s have a heck of a lot more poke for not an awful lot more cash or weight so they'd be my preferred option if I didn't already have 8s.
Thanks for that Pete. Last night I ordered new.... 2X12" passive Wharfedale Titans for my main PA speakers and a single 1X12" Wharfedale Titan active speaker for my vocal monitor. I reckon they should be plenty loud enough for what I need. Any large venues that we play such as Rock City here in Nottingham have their own PA anyway and we generally only play pubs/small clubs. They should be here by Friday in plenty of time before next Thursdays gig I just need to sell my 15" speakers now to help cover the cost I've spent a small fortune this last couple of weeks.....and I ain't quite finished yet!
 17.
Finally got round to sitting down & learning Sir Duke a couple of weeks back. Good fun to play along with!
That was the last one I learnt too!

 19.
Anybody who lends his bass to Martin Turner is a friend of mine! Brilliant communicator and top Bass Bloke. Enjoy drowning that guitarist of yours with that 4ohm TecAmp L115 I sold you, T!
Cheers for the lovely feedback Phil. It was a pleasure doing business with you. Here is the man himself playing my bass in a Milton Keynes recording studio when he was recording Argus Through The Looking Glass (with my bass). Pic taken by ex-Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash guitarist Keith Buck on his mobile phone. All the best Tony.
 20.
Alreet. Been lurking around here now for a couple of months and thought it was about time I got myself involved in some natter! Very (pleasantly) surprised to see so many fellow Nottinghamians around the place too. I'm a complete beginner in my mid twenties who just decided one day that I really wanted to learn a instrument and that I loved the low, deep tones of the bass. So picked up a cheap Westfield bass and amp off ebay a few months ago and have been trying to self teach myself with youtube videos and a couple of books (as well as the many fantastic threads on this forum!) After lots of looking around on here I'd like to get myself some lessons so was wondering if any of the people from Nottingham (or surrounding areas) knew of any good teachers in the south of the shire? Beeston, Chilwell, Long Eaton that kind of general area. That's where I'm based and I don't have my own transport (for now) which has ruled out a couple of fantastic looking teachers in other parts of Nottingham that are a pain in the arse to get to on bus's. Ta for making it through the wall of text and groove on!
Aye up me duck! and welcome fellow Nottinghamian You live not far from me actually (Strelley) and I just got my new car from Chilwell last month! There used to be a teacher in Long Eaton that used to teach above Phil Boot guitar shop but he closed down The guitarist in my band teaches guitar and bass for a living. There is another bass teacher in the same building. He is based in Ilkeston, I dunno if that's any good to you? if you are interested send me a PM and i'll pass on some details for you. Some teaches will come to you....maybe that's an option? good luck...Tony.
 21.
A couple of weeks ago whilst I was knocking down a wall at a friends house my finger was mangled in a sledgehammer / wall interface error. It hurts like hell and made a bit of a mess but it's mending slowly. It has left me not able to play for a bit and it certainly leaves me with a lot of time on my hands when I'm at home and not working. Hopefully it'll sort itself out soon and i'll be able to play without swearing all the time.. Fortunately I can just about still play the piano at the moment so that's taking up my time. It's horrible not being able to play when you want to!
Wow sorry to hear that, how unfortunate. At least you can listen to loads of music, go to gigs etc...chill and relax, you'll be back playing before you know it! All the best!
 22. I rather like these with Alain Caron. The first is the band Uzeb. I'd never heard of Uzeb until recently The second is at a bass workshop........ 23.
I had the very same setup as my first "proper" rig. Top notch stuff and eminently giggable. Amazed it's still here as that price is a STEAL!
Thanks! yes it it is! Having already bought another amp/cab (Tecamp) it has to go. I would like at least £200 and I really think that's cheap. I just needed something lighter, the Tecamp amp weighs nothing and the cab is light for it's size. The Trace is pretty heavy, but the 2X10 is not as bad.
