I think the mobile set works brilliantly and particularly like how it remembers what you have read and takes you back to it when you click on the thread again.

First time for us last night at the Board In Knaresborough. Acoustic guitarist broke a string in the first song and had to use lead guitarists strat so first set had to be juggled about a bit. Not many in all night but extremely good compliments at the end and very friendly landlord ( free drinks all night ) got the diary straight out for a re booking. High point probably had to be the guy who came up to us two songs after playing Teenage Kicks to ask "do you play teenage kicks ?" Strong shandy I guess in North Yorkshire !!

Geddy Lee plays some very complicated bass lines, plays keyboard sounds with his feet, reverses the roles when needed and sings lead vocals in a fantasticslly successful three piece band that have sold millions of albums worldwide and are still packing out stadiums nearly forty years on !!! I'd say that qualifies himm as a somewhat successful basdist in my book. He also seems like a bloody nice guy as well.

With regard to my earlier "luck" comment i remember a few years ago a friend of mine saying I was always lucky when applying and getting jobs. I referred him to a saying an old teacher had told him me that the "definition of being lucky is when preparation meets opportunity". I think that's a very nice and simple way to define it.

Think it was the brilliant South African golfer Gary Player that once said when someone mentioned he was lucky with a shot "yes, the more I practice the luckier I get"

And who would have thought that such a simple bass line would make one man so much money. I am led to believe John Deacon has earned a fortune from it with it being used on things like Gladiators etc ( sat night tv not the Russell Crowe epic obviously )

Very impressive.

Played with two bands I was in at my 50th. A little stressful but worth the effort and great memories.

Yes, ownership ( and transportation ) of the PA is often a bone of contention but shop around as there are a few round this way that would be happy with £100 for supplying and running their PA for the night. Times are tough and everyone wants a bargain.

PS we had our own pa all the time so didn't need to factor that in and if you are hiring at £200 wouldn't you be better buying it now as a shared asset ??

Certainly look like you have been playing for much longer With my previous band we started doing functions etc for around £500 ( double a typical pub gig ) and then ramped it up as and when we felt we could justify it and they would pay it

Saw them at Croke Park in Dublin a few years and ago and I was very impressed. Two hours of listening to good sing a long rock style songs and all in all it was a good night.

From memory the duck and drake has what has got to be the shortest load in ever. It's about three paces from back of car to the stage.

Saw the hunter ronson gig at Leeds so guess I must have seen you in Jet as well.

Pretty sure it was the sparks bassists plectrum but could have been the bassist in cockney rebel lol it was a long time ago ( in a galaxy far far away....well Leeds actually )

Yes that's the one. Just remembered that I caught the bassists plectrum when he threw it at the end of the gig and half of Russell Mael's white silk scarf lol
