1. We had Francis Dunnery for my wife's 50th a few months ago. Awesome night. Never forget it.
2. If anyone responds on this and wants the old style fitting and you would sell the Lightning wire separately please pm me. Lost mine.
3.
I didn't play anything in my younger days but was briefly a singer in a school rock band and I recall our guitarist taking me to some mythical music shop in Bingley that people used to rate, can't remember the name. Would have been around 1980.
Wow that was a blast from the past. I had just started playing and was taken there on the first of many visits to JSG in Bingley. You walked down like an indoor alleyway ( PA's etc at the top ?? ) in to a large room full of guitars, basses, amps cabs etc. It was like walking through the gates of heaven for a teenager after two long bus rides. Bought my first amp ( Fal 50) and went back many times for many subsequent purchases.
4. Had a very very similar situation years ago. Chose the best singer ( the larger lady ) who turned out to be an amazing front person and had the guys ( and plenty of girls ) in the palm of her hands and the band soared. About two years ago she lost 7 ( yes that's 7 stone ) and now she looks....................awesome :-)
5. You guys are making me a very happy man. Huge Slade fan since my early teens and so nice to hear that they all sound to be decent down to earth guys exactly as they have always appeared to be from the stage and screen. If you never saw Slade live in their heyday then it's a shame as these guys were truly awesome and very f*****g loud in a nice way.
6. I'm a bit of a fat git and 56 year old BUT I used to run Ultra Marsthons and when anyone comments about it I use my standard reply. "It's better to be a has been than a never was" At 22 just go do what the hell you want'
7.
Apparently this concert was sold out within 30 minutes of official release. I guess the core problem is that tickets are sold on release for much less than their true value given the supply/demand ratio with the various resellers pocketing the difference. If they were sold initially using some sort of auction system then at least the original organisers and artists would get the additional profit.
But I really wonder just how many are "sold" to retail customers as every time recently that I have been trying to get something from Ticketmaster etc I get the "sold out" message but you could try "Get Me In" on the same f*****g webpage and guess who owns Get Me In ?? Yes, right first time !!!
8. Having had the virtually free 3 months Spotify trial and now paying £9.99 a month I am just contemplating cancelling and giving the Apple Music one a go with their free 3 months trial and then $9.99 dollars a month ( not seen it in real money yet ) Anyone tried it yet ??.
9.
I didn't want to buy from an agency - but when I was in a position to spend time looking for tickets (at lunch on the release day) all I could find were from agencies. How does this work - where do the agents get tickets from?

It works mainly by Ticketmaster employees buying tickets in bulk on company provided credit cards. They are then sold on for an inflated price , providing Ticketmaster with over twice the revenue from a single ticket. The fans are the ones who suffer , but will continue to unless people stop using these sites.
Sadly that is the answer in that it is effectively legalised touting. Disgraceful situation.
10. Don't get me started on f*****g rip off ticket agencies. Scourge of the industry and its really about time that some high profile very rich musicians and promoters took the matter in hand and sorted it. There really is no excuse anymore to rip off the fans that pay the wages.
11. Great shots, it's not easy getting good live shots in poor and rapidly changing light. My first attempt was rubbish
12. Is that Neil Pearts garage ??
Not our drummer, carpet or stage but you get the idea.
13. Yes he was a really nice guy and worked tirelessly on the site. The occasional fall outs did get quite amusing at times too.
14. Amazing night full of great music, fabulous stories and very inspirational philosophical thoughts. Certainly prompted a huge debate amongst our friends afterwards and we are all still buzzing from it. Very nice to sit down before and after and just generally chat to him too along with his friend and assistant Paul and his sister Faye who was spending a few days with him. Managed to down a couple of very nice pies too !!
15. Pre Facebook pretty much taking over everything the Rock of the North website in Yorkshire was THE place for everything live music related and did huge amounts for many charities some of which I am very proud to have been a part of ( even got to play the famous old Batley Variety Club ). Sadly Steve Lally who ran it passed away through cancer a couple of years ago and although his son Joe still keeps it running Facebook is now so instant that the website is not as prominent as previous. Glad to help you get sorted.
16. Try the rockofthenorth Facebook page. Plenty local drummers on there and many of them dep on a regular basis.
17. We have 3 so safety in numbers :-)
18.
Perhaps it's me but this idea of a super-intimate gig does not appeal at all. I want may rock stars on stage with a full production, and at the fraction of the cost. Admittedly not as exclusive but then that's not one of my musical appreciation criteria. Supposing he breaks your toilet?
Each to their own but we are so excited about a genuine star playing and singing in our conservatory.
19. On this particular short UK visit he is doing a free 30 minute session which my wife is taking advantage of but others can be added if required earlier in the day. With regard to the musical part of the evening my I initial thoughts when I enquired was that it would be in the £2000 range so I was pleasantly surprised.
20.
Ok guys never got into Rush but read Neal Pearts autobiographical "Ghostrider" and was blown away. Any recommendations for dipping ones toe into the Rush catalogue?
I read it a while back and it totally changed my outlook on life. Makes you realise how precious time with loved ones is. Read most of them now. A little highbrow in places but staggeringly honest about life on the road from his own personal perspective. I find him very inspirational.
21. Don't worry we have already had her party and that was a 3am drink orientated bash !!! This is her present from me.
22. Yes for all attending.
23. Hi, sorry for the late response Minimum fee is £750 ( lot of money for me personal to pay out but I thought it would be more if I am honest and my wife is suitably stunned ) No booze before or during but ok after. Francis just needs coffee and water plus we put a buffet on You choose an album ( we have chosen Tall Blonde Helicopter ) plus he then adds more. Going to be just 16 of us in our conservatory Really excited about it. Can't wait !!!
24. Really want to see them one more time and quietly confident they will play some UK dates.
25. Budget option could be the old 60's style oil wheel as used by the very early Pink Floyd :-)
