1. Managed to get another hour with it today and just done an A/B with my old Behringer cab that I only gig with so it is only really heard with lots of other noise going on ( drummer, guitarists tuning up etc then the gig ) and staggered how much hissing and farting it was doing at low and high volume ( I think the tweeter is the main culprit ) Must admit that my amp settings now bear no resemblance to where they were sat at last gig and I am now playing about with my Vamp and seeing what the potential is. So looking forward to Fridays wedding gig as it looks like a nightmare load in so may just go with the cab and not bother with the pa bass bins Tony PS Getting itchy to go the full monty and buy an MB combi to match
2.
Huge. First off though, start with flat eq, the Markbass cab will sound completely different from the Behringer anyway, using the same eq will therefore not work, and may even give you a detrimental view of your upgrade.
Strangely enough that is what happened but I think one of my young daughters had also been playing with the eq on my amp Only had about twenty minutes playing about with it ( her indoors is now home and said she isn't listening to that noise all night, strangely enough my suggestion for her to go back to work then didn't go down too well ) Set the eq all flat and it's starting to sound nice and looking forward to playing about with it more tomorrow but as I am still using my Behringer amp think that I may not be able to fully utilise it's potential ( trying to talk myself in to buying a new amp )
3. After months of deliberation and pro-crastination I made a bit of an impulse purchase yesterday on ebay and purchased a new ( ex demo with some amp feet mark on the top ) Markbass 151 Traveller cab Having used Behringer cabs for the last 4 years ( that have performed excellently I have to say ) I needed to do something on the weight front and at £425 it looks quite a decent purchase. Looking to collect later today so getting pretty excited. Report to follow, how much better than the Behringer will it be ??
4. After months of deliberating I have just spotted a new ( but ex demo ) Markbass Traveller 15" at £425 on ebay within an hours drive so I have bitten the bullet and made the purchase. Looking forward to collecting it tomorrow and gigging it on Friday !!
5. Lovely bass, all you need now is a Wishbone Ash trib band looking for a Martin Turner
6. They are brilliant in the summer for blowing up things like paddling pools
7. Now all I need to wait for is the avalanche of "compact" upgraders disposing of them very cheaply on here C'mon guys get your orders in with Alex and make a very poor man looking for a nice, cheap, light and loud cab very happy !!
8.
Me at my last gig at The Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton The Slade Rooms at Wolverhampton !! tell me more
9. Another cracking gig at the Woolpack at Almondbury near Huddersfield Late Sunday afternoon and the place was rammed with locals and a quite a few local band members Buzzing gig with our new songs now starting to feel comfortable ( Poker Face segued with Sweet Dreams with a bit of the riff from Layla in as well )
10. I seem to remember something on here a while ago about an audition not going too well when they slapped all the way through House of the Rising Sun
11. I have had a V Amp for years mainly using it as a tuner and bought the foot controller FCB1010 from this site last year and occasionally use it for a bit of a different sound but just wondered is it possible to use the combined pair to trigger synth type sounds without the bass connected and without purchasing any more equipment ?? I just want to be able to put the occaional synth type note in the quiet part of a song. Any thoughts ??
12. We finish the second set with it, always goes down a storm.
13. Get a second hand Geddy !! Loads about, cheap as chips, sound brilliant and a dream to play If you hate ( and you won't ) sell it on for no less than you paid.
14. Bargain, worth that for the tuner alone.
15. My hesitation due to job uncertainty when you had it for sale previously proved to be a wise decision as I ended up leaving work soon after and I currently need to count the pennies. On the plus side I had 3 interviews this week and the best one has resulted in an email this morning saying that he will be in contact with me next week so if I get the job then I know what I will be celebrating with
16. Don't pack in, find another band and I am sure you will be re-generated with new songs, people, venues etc
17. Surprised he has a Boxster, must be difficult getting his bass gear to gigs in it
18. Apple laptop arrived today and is excellent and was really well packaged etc. Jim was very patient when I had a little delay with a paypal issue at my end and it was much appreciated Many thanks Tony
19. Brilliant gig at Montey's in Harrogate last night Wild audience with at least two 21st birthdays being celebrated Can't wait to play again ( see pics )
20. Hi Sounds good to me and will give me a spare if mine ever goes down so yes I would like to purchase it at the price asked Tony
21. 6 gigs in with new guitarist and we are starting to really rock the house..... Last night it was the Drop Kick in Low Moor near Bradford with a decent sized room and stage with a very appreciative audience ( combination of locals and from our small but growing fan base ) Thursday was the Duck and Drake in Leeds, a little quiet but great gig anyway Loving the new dimension in the band with new guitarist playing some keys, loads more starting to be added to repertoire from Lady Gaga to Paramore
22. Excellent communication and very prompt service The cables seem very robust and I am looking forward to gigging with more confidence
23. Having played over the last five years in a trio, 4,5,6 and 7 piece band with a couple of depping jobs when there were 12 of us on stage ( soul band ) I find it quite staggering when I watch a full blown orchestra all perfectly in synch/time/key etc Dread to think what level of rehearsal is required to get to that standard and pleased I am not the one ringing/texting/emailing round to check everyone is available for saturday night's gig
24. Never used a std jazz but the Geddy neck is by far the thinnest neck on the basses I have used and is a dream to play. Buy it, you won't regret it and if you do there are loads of people who will buy it from you
