Spotify, very very impressed, anyone else use it ?
tonybassplayer replied to tonybassplayer's topic in General Discussion
It wouldn't surprise me one little bit if iTunes hasn't already got plans to move in to this arena. Even downloaded MP3's are starting to be just a little quaint !! -

I think it's fair to say that the music industry has massively changed over the last ten years and will continue to do so. I'm very unlikely at my age to start to listen avidly to new bands as I am more than happy with what I grew up with and it doesn't really bother me too much that they won't be adding too many more millions to their bank accounts via spotify. They have concert tours and merchandise to do that for them now .............. -

I am 56 years old in a fortnight and have been precious about "my albums" since I started collecting them in the early seventies and until recently I thought I still was. They have moved from my mums to Africa with me then back home in the mid eighties then through four serious relationships/marriages and five houses and if I am honest I can't remember the last time I actually played one. I see the boxes twice a year when the xmas stuff comes out then goes back in the loft. Tonight I listened to Made in Japan, Frampton Comes Alive, Moon Madness, Mott the Hoople Live and a A Night at the Opera. What a brilliant night and trip down memory lane. -

I currently spend nothing on cd's a year but at least this way I am putting £120 a year back to the artists which is more than I was. Still buy the occasional live DVD though. Worth the payment for the convenience alone. My iPhone is currently connected to the hi fi and if I want to move a track on I just do it via my iPad that I am typing this on. -

I like the idea of adding family members for a fiver each. Going to treat my daughters when they arrive this weekend and put it on their iPhones. Got to be worth a fiver a month for them as they are at that age when music listening is a big part of their lives. -

I had free for a while and at the moment I have to say that yes it's worth the upgrade but why not sign up for it like I did at 99p for the first three months and if you are not using it kick it in to touch. I don't think the files are very big and are easily deleted so storage not a problem. Try it out. -
Been tempted in to using it for a while but decided to take the plunge recently and signed up for the 99p a month for first three months then £9.99 a month premium offer and quite honestly wish I had done this a long time ago. We have a fabulous big and cosy conservatory with a decent audio system and I have been toying with the idea of buying a retro turntable and really getting back in to proper listening like I used to when I was younger but decided on this option and what a great decision. Within the first hour I had download and stored for offline use hours and hours of albums I either have sat in the loft or have been on the wish list for years and I have barely scratched the surface ( sorry, what a shocking pun ) Anyone else a user ??

Should this now be a police matter ?? This is not a dispute but a clear case of someone who has set out to de fraud another person and in my book that is a crime ??
Beg to differ. My issue wasn't on here and perhaps my naivety was part of the problem Bass for sale on Gumtree. The guy wanted payment to his account on the Friday night, collection by me on Saturday. I thought ok as I THOUGHT PAINPAL covered these things. When I got to no 27 of the street stated...... on the Saturday, it didn't exist. It had been flattened. Numbers 1-15 existed, 33-37 existed, 17- 31 on that street had been flattened. I rang the phone number he had given me. Turned out to be an ansaphone for a Sunday Football League. So, no bass, no money, no point of contact. PAINPal said that as it was a payment to a persons account, rather than a payment for specific goods, that they would not cover it. They changed their minds after some more communication however they finally stated that if there was no money in the sellers account they could only " restrict his account privileges". There is enough time passed now that I have passed it to my credit card company, as the PAINPal account I set up to buy this bass was fuelled by my credit card. We shall see. I was reluctant to pay by PAINPal as I was robbed of £600 and a bass by a thieving git in Italy about 5 years ago. The real point is if you want absolute security, you really need to know all of PAINPal's T and C's. And by the way, as THE BUYER, PAINPal charged me £27 for the transaction. NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN. Help stop the blatant profiteering from ticket touting
tonybassplayer replied to tonybassplayer's topic in General Discussion
To be fair it's not my petition it's just co incidental that I was having exactly the same feelings at the same time but it's building very fast and usually I am quite a chilled out kind of a person but there is no doubt about that this is very much profiteering and I am confident that in time ( sadly nothing seems to happen very quickly ) this could help change the situation. -
The only thing about this is that given Ticketmaster's history of fair play and decency, all I can see happening is that rather than releasing tickets at, say, 70 quid, and once they've all "sold out", flogging them on GetMeIn for 140 quid, Ticketmaster will just release them at 140 quid.
As much as I would like ticket prices to drop I can't argue with true market value so if the bands etc decide on a higher ticket price then I pays my money and takes my choice but that is different to them being sold on immediately at double the official price without them even being offered to the fans at face value. -

Thanks guys, really want this to work Like all of you I love my live music but it's getting silly that you have to pay double the list price for something when this is happening all over the place. -

Hi I'm sure some of you have seen my original thread about being totally hacked of about ticket touting well it seems we are are not alone and an online petition has been started and I would really appreciate your assistance with getting the numbers up. It's blatantly ripping off live music fans like you and me so any assistance is very welcome. https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/ticket-touting-made-illegal?source=facebook-share-button&time=1419158150

Never ever bought a Ska record in my life but when there is a Ska band on at our local pub we are there and the pub is bouncing. It's great live music and refreshing from the rock stuff.

It's definitely stoppable however I doubt that they want to stop it as they make more money like this. -
I have to admit that my daughter wanted 1D tickets and I got them really easily. They went on sale at 09:00, I waited half an hour logged in and picked up 3 seats 20 rows from the stage and had paid for them in under 10 minutes. I think these type of gigs get loads of people claiming tickets as soon as they go on sale and then not being able to buy or screwing up the purchase so they get released again. The whole 'legalised' tout thing does drive me crazy though. I can totally understand bands, venues and promoters trying to earn as much as they can via simple supply and demand mechanisms but I don't get the large bulk purchasing deals they allow to the ticket agencies (unless the band/promoter are actually earning extra margins by selling to these guys at a big premium).
I was on from nine till ten ish for Manchester dates with no joy whatsoever but going to keep trying. Bound to be something crop up between now and October.
