I have set myself a project to learn a load of Steely Dan songs and I'm finding it really hard going I'm using the tab off my Guitar Pro programme and the problem isn't learning the notes / structure etc, it's my failing memory. I've been up since 6.30 learning the middle section of Ricky Don't Lose Than Number and yeh, it's not that hard but then I go downstairs and make myself a drink and when I go back to my den 10 minutes later, I can't remember big chunks of what I just learned and have to go over it all again. I wouldn't mind but I must have played it through 20 times What an arse...
You sure you're only nipping downstairs for a drink??!!
 2.
Hi guys Just realised this has been released. http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/3360988/-/...Trio+Of+Doom+cd If you do a product search on Google UK, you can get it even cheaper. Should be an ace CD. Regards Mike
.......Hi Y'all....Don't know if you Jaco fans are aware of a great album he was involved with during his halcyon days circa 76/77....It's by French Canadian pianist/composer Michel Columbier and features Jaco on most tracks showing off the lyrical beauty of his playing as well as the stuff we all love him for....Don't believe it was widely available, so anyone needing a copy just has to PM me...
 3.
I cannot believe that there are ''teachers'' out there advocating 'no use of open strings', Its complete crap, tell James Jamerson, Jimmy Johnson, Ray Brown, and any number of the worlds leading bass players out there that the incredible bass lines and musical genius that they have bestowed upon the world of music are somehow invalidated by some jumped up opinionated git who likes to make rules up in order to cover up his or her apparent lack of credible resource when peddling their unmitigated rubbish to poor unsuspecting apiring young musicians who probably pay for this utter drivel. I'm hoping you can excuse the level of my vitriol, but I am seriously infuriated by the dissemination of such bilge and equally angry at the idiots who spread such inexactitude, not realising the long term harm it can do. ASK THE GUY FOR A REFUND. ASK HIM WHICH GROUNDBREAKING GENRE OF BASS PLAYING HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR. You may use open strings Rant over
OUCH!!
