Update Email from Alex this afternoon - should get my cab within a week. Sounds like he's been having a sneaky look on here and seen an unhappy bunny I don't want to slag BF, I want to be as happy with my S12 as I've been with my Big One, and I wish them nothing but success, but it's a big old world out there, and plenty of choice in the 212 market. They just need to pay a bit more attention to the people who are forking out top dollar for their stuff.
A small British company making a really brilliant range of products - that the faithful that bought them are, in the highest majority, more than happy with (me included!), great customer service and an enthusiasm that I've never come across before in any industry - backing up there claims too? Who would have thought it! Jeez!
I have a BF Big One, which I love, and I want my S12T/V to be different but still wonderful, but I just can't agree with you about great customer service. Without wanting to sound like a stuck record - Communication and updates on the order process have been non-existent. I was told that my cab was almost ready and could I please pay the balance (another £860) No acknowledgement that my payment had been received, and now a month later I still have no cab and no idea of when it will be delivered. Call it what you want, but great customer service it most certainly isn't I'm delighted that BF are doing well, and having a handmade, British, cab that seems to do no wrong, really floats my boat. Once it arrives, all this will just be a slight disappointment in the whole process, but at the moment, I'm not a happy camper

Bought some Bartolini J pups off James. Nice and easy, no hassles Cheers

Aaaaaaargh - not again - those bloody holes. How can you not drill 4 holes correctly - especially in a body with a contrasting through-neck. Also there doesn't seem to be any grommet or washer for the string ends to bite against - just the body wood. They are going to dig in and eventually pull through the holes. Sorry, I know some of you are fans, but this is shoddy stuff
Why would anyone pay the final payment more than a month in advance though, I get that with custom gear that a deposit or part payments paid on proof of progress is expected but I wouldn't pay the last bit until the office rang me to say "your cab is ready, where do you want it posting to as I'm typing the postal address on the carton as we speak?".
Because I had an email saying "Your cab is almost finished, full payment is now due" Followed by silence, then after I chased it, a rather brusque one saying they are short staffed after Alex injured himself on his bike. Just the thousand pounds of my money!!!

Some of us have now been waiting 3 months from order and 1 month since full payment for our cabs, and still no delivery date in sight. It better have the best handles in the known universe when it eventually turns up!!!

Least precise precision bass ever?
davehux replied to Annoying Twit's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
A Badass, a P pup and some firewood for £25 looks like a bargain to me -
and again, the string holes look like they were drilled by Stevie Wonder The style may be 'unique' and whether you like it or not, is down to personal taste, but come on...get 4 holes in a line and evenly spaced if you want any credibility as a carpenter, never mind a luthier

Just swapped the standard JJ ECC83's for a pair of JJ ECC81's and now I have an amp with a usable gain control, not just an on/off switch Got them from good old eBay. Perfect condition and next day delivery http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230570308734 Literally a 5 minute job to do. Undo 10 screws. Remove the valve covers. Wiggle out the old valves. Reverse the procedure. No techie skills needed.

I've had 2 4001's and I think there's a certain folklore built up about the trussrod adjustment and it's supposed myth of 'only let a techie touch it' Yes, they are different to any other neck, in that you slacken off the nuts, bend the neck to the required relief and tighten them back up again, but to be honest it's not a big deal. Keep the body clamped to something, and bend the neck over a soft fulcrum in the centre. It doesn't take a lot of pressure to bend it, so don't go at like like a bull at a gate, but it's not rocket science. Also, forget forking out £stupid for a 'special' truss rod tool. the 1/4" nuts are the same as any screwdriver with changeable bits. Buy a long screwdriver extension bit holder (I paid 99p off eBay) and Robert's your mother's brother Obviously I take no responsibility for you sending your fingerboard into the next street, but with a bit of care, a Ric can be adjusted by anyone with a bit of common sense

Been using a Line 6 G30 for a year now. Receiver is pedal sized, 9v input. Sits as the first link on my pedalboard chain. People have criticised the battery compartment door on the transmitter for being flimsy, but I think they just must be clumsy. Not had any issues with it. Runs 2xAA cells. I use decent rechargeables and get an easy 4-5 hours before the battery indicator drops a bar. Probably 6-8 hours total use before it goes into the red. Input socket is standard 1/4" jack, so you can use any patch lead/plug you like. Probably not touring robustness, but for a gig or rehearsal a week, it's doing the job for me

I've used Interparcel many, many times, and never had a problem. Have sent a guitar to Spain and it arrived in one piece. You don't need an account, I always pay by credit card.

Just played with a pick for the first time!
To inject some controversy , could I say that , despite there being some very skillful pick players who I enjoy very much , there are some incredibly ham-fisted ones , too ? I see a fair few young men in bands who look like they are trying to saw their bass in half with a plectrum . I think a lot of the bad press plectrum playing gets is because it tends to be the default plucking choice of "less able " players .
Yeah - that Chris Squire - what a waste of space -

I use an Alaska Pik which fits over the nail of my right first finger. It's a pick you can't lose or drop, and I use my thumb for quieter passages that would normally be fingered. Never got the hang of a traditional triangular pick - they always seem to boing off into the crowd. -
I'm desperately trying to hate it, but I just can't. Can't decide if it's Steampunk or Star Wars

Fills above 12th fret get lost in the mix
davehux replied to John Cellario's topic in General Discussion
Get rid of those funny little wires than some fool stuck on your neck, kick in the chorus pedal and then get anoodling up at the dusty end. Ain't no-one gonna stop you now -
Errrrrrrr...am I the only one who thinks he's looking at a shoddy, amateur hour, evening class woodwork project? The whole thing is hideous crap IMHO
