For hard, defined, no holds barred sound, with enough volume to kill, I think Markbass has it in spades. I've had an LM II, and an F1, and IMHO the F1 will punch a hole right through your bandmates.

Chris Squire - Fish Out Of Water One to avoid Mick Karn - Titles. (Loved Mick with Japan, but this IMHO is total crap)

+1 for Trubass and La Bella I had to widen the nut slots slightly to get them to fit snugly, as they are pretty thick chaps

Never wanted to play anything else How sad it that

Yes. Tried those 6 string cheese graters, but never got on with them. Picked up a mate's bass and it just felt right. Also listening to The Yes Album aged 13 helped. I know the R word is not flavour of the month around here at the mo, but listening to Mr Squire knocking lumps out of his, set me on the path to 4 string heaven

Anyone know if it would have a nitro or an acrylic lacquer on it?
-
By an act of total stupidity, I knocked over my beautiful gunmetal blue CIJ Fender Aerodyne Jazz, then another guitar fell on top of it and punched 4 neat X shaped holes into the lacquer from the screwheads on the neck plate. The holes are right on the front of the top horn and really obvious. They are only 3-4mm in diameter, but look dreadful as the rest of the bass is mint. Is there anyway of softening the lacquer with perhaps the tip of a soldering iron held close, so that the dents will flow out, or will I make it even worse??? I'm heartbroken

Anyone use an all valve amp with a Barefaced Super 12?
davehux replied to burno70's topic in Amps and Cabs
I can't see it hurting either amp or cab, so long as you use the 4 ohm socket on your LB However, as you know, the LB puts out 30W (and I know they are lovely big fat valve watts, 'cos I used to own an LB), and the S12 is recommended for 150-1200 watts, so it may simply not have enough poke to work the cab properly. -
Are pictures of Retrovibes allowed on the forum now?
I think the rule is that if you're selling, then anything that ain't a real Ric is a no no. If you're not selling it, then Mr Hall can look but not touch

I was bidding on this TC Ditto Looper this week http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TC-ELECTRONIC-DITTO-LOOPER-PEDAL-NO-RESERVE-/271211076368 Brand new they are £105 with free postage and every man and his dog are selling them for that price. Some eejit ended up paying £93 plus £3 postage. OK they've saved a whole £9, but I do feel a face palm moment coming on. Doesn't even look like a shiller, which makes it even worse

I bought this Hohner Jack off a BC'er recently as a fixer-upper with a faulty active circuit. Seems to be a common fault on these basses, as it's rarer to see one for sale with a working EQ these days. I've removed the dud pre-amp and the 3 original pots (which were stiff and scratchy as well), and replaced them with a brand new Artec SE2a 2 band EQ. I've modded it slightly so that it uses the original battery compartment connections, and by using the original toggle switch, I've kept the active/passive function, so you can still use it if the battery fails (Artec claim 4000hrs use on a battery) In active mode, you have Volume-Blend-Bass/Treble controls. In passive mode, you have Volume-Blend. The Bass/Treble stacked pot uses different sized shafts to the original, so I've had to buy a new stacked knob set for it. The Volume and Blend knobs are the originals. You can either clean the old ones, or dirty the new ones to match Sounds good in passive mode, with it's EMG designed humbuckers, but flick in the active and it really kicks off. Plenty of depth and control, and when you wind the bass up to full, it can shake the house down. The neck is fine and action is nice and playable. There are a few dings on the underside and some very small ones on the neck, plus the battery cover lid was broken when I got it, but has been repaired. I'll be taking the Schaller buttons off it and putting the originals back on before dispatch. Yours for [s]£225[/s] £200 delivered to a UK mainland address
