1. No chance for any pictures?
2. My vote goes for ashdown. I wouldn't go for GK myself, I think they'd be too "bright" sounding!
3. How about mess about with the EQ some more? I've tried that model a bunch of times, and to me it didn't seem muddy at all!
4. Hey mate, if I were you I'd have a look round the items at the for sale section within your budget - there's always something good running at a really good price! Maybe something like this? 5. Only problem with carpet is that it can look scruffy, especially if you have cats! But then again, vinyl rips and tears. I'd prefer vinyl because I think it looks classier.
6. Can anyone comment on the tone of the Profets? I'd imagine this is the deciding factor, right?
7. I STLL rake with my right hand, grr!
8.
Cheers for the reply buddy. You mean quite like as in noise or as in volume and power? I was looking at either the 3.2 which is 300w SS or 5.1 which is 500w SS. Prior to this I was using a Peavey mark VI at practices which was 250w at 4ohms but was suprisingly loud. No one else got any experience or opinions on these amps?
I mean volume wise. I havent tried the Peavey to compare though, but I'd imagine the 3.2 being a tad quieter.
9. The bass playing was pretty good, IMO - I loved the rapid tremolo thing, and that harmonic fill! Shame about the song, "BASSex" gave me a chuckle! Did anyone else notice how sterile the drums sounded? Listen to 2:53, and you'll notice.
10. Didn't Jaco write a lot of his solo stuff? I'd imagine he did!
11. And sounds better, it seems! 'Gratz on finding a cab you're happy with!
12. What did you use before?
13. From what I've heard, they're relatively quiet, considering their power rating. That's all I know though, can comeone else chime in?
14. Get it sorted ASAP before it develops too much, and maybe switch to a new right hand technique - something with a straighter wrist like floating thumb?
15. If you want to sound decent, I'd say 300 watts, it really is all about headroom! But really it depends on your band - I play in a loud metal band so my opinion might be biased!
16. I've heard stuff about using a home made overdrive pedal. No idea if that was true that early on though. Either way it doesn't sound too hard of a tone to emulate!
17. New strings will definitely help you out for a good slap sound. I'd look around Basschat for a good 8ohm cab, so you can run your current speaker and another cab!
18. For the price, this can't be beat - Laney make some pretty decent amps!
19. Not a good thread for GAS at all...
20. Ive always found 10" drivers to have a better low b sound than 15" drivers - so much tighter and much less boomy. But as usual this always true in all cases.
21. The PD7 is probably the best pedal you can get for metal at that price range, but the Digitech Bass Driver's worth a look as well, very versatile as it models a bunch of different pedals. EDIT: I'd like to add that I play in a metal band too, and I find that the band's overall sound tends to be a lot clearer and generally better when I DON'T distort my bass - it ends up sounding muddy sometimes, especially in rooms that aren't too good!
22. Whats the impedance of this cab? My bands guitarist might be looking for something like this.
23. Looks like it's designed for style more than substance! I find that low power bass amps are a waste of money, you NEED at least a hundred watts to reproduce the low end! There might be amps that defy this rule, but this is what I've experienced.
24. From what i've experienced, those Warwick ProFets are pretty quiet, considering their power ratings! Plus the decals on them are Comic Sans. COMIC SANS, FOR GOD SAKES!
25. Owen's a great seller! I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again, but I'm happy with your UL410 and I'm not cut out to be lugging a 610 about!
