I have a 4x12 (Tech Soundsystems). They're not that common and are very rarely seen in combination with a 1x15, unless the 1x15 is being used as a stand. I think Chrissie has a point. The whole article is full of similar assertions, but there's no evidence offered to back any of it up, and no evidence that the writer has any authority or knowledge about the subject. It sounds to me like something Jeremy Clarkson might have written. Contrast this with the articles written by the people on this site who really do understand acoustic engineering and speaker design. In general they don't feel the need to say things like "The reason why they don’t tell you is because a lot of drivers in even big-name cabinets are crap.", which serves only to diminish the authority of the writer. I agree with the basic argument that modern 2x12s are good enough for most situations. I only moved on my Ebs 2x12 Neo to make space for the 4x12.

Nice and versatile basses if you like the narrow spacing, I had one for a while, enjoyed playing it. The BIN is a pretty good price.

An ordinary Stingray control plate might sort this out. It would look slightly weird and leave a nasty mess underneath but it would be cheap and wouldnt need luthier input.

I played my Burman Pro 4000 through Merton's Vintage at a bash a couple of years age and it sounded very nice indeed.

It's all very well buying new basses, but sometimes a setup or a minor change to an instrument that wasn't getting played for whatever reason, can make something seem like a new instrument again, and open up a whole range of possibilities. Case in point 1 - I've had a Bass Collection SB310 for a few years, strung as B-E-A-D. I needed something inexpensive, that might have to live in the back of the car for a day, and I decided to reclaim it. I replaced the nut and strung it with an old new set of Rotosound 40-100s that have been kicking about for a while, lowered the action, and it's like having a new bass again! Case in point 2 - I took the TI Flats off my Precision and put some D'Addario Roundwounds on - hey presto gone are the dead, lifeless and uninspiring thuds and it sounds like a bass guitar again! What with that, and the realisation that there's no point in trying to find the ultimate 5-string because I already own it, and I'm mostly GAS-free for the first time in ages!

I'd say make sure you try one before you do anything rash. I had convinced myself that a Combustion was for me, until I tried one in the Gallery. I've got quite small hands, made worse by damage from a bike accident, and the gaps below the 5th fret on the E and B were just too uncomfortable.

That's brilliant timing, I've just got one of these and am looking to do the same thing. Do you use the compressors built into the recorder or add them during post processing?

TRB100J also has 19mm string spacing at the bridge and what looks to me like a wide fingerboard. If you didn't like the TRB5P you probably won't like this either. Maybe you should be looking at something with a 17.5mm spacing like a MusicMan, or something even narrower, maybe G&L?

We hired a snow machine for a gig at Xmas, which was delivered with an IEC lead with a removable plug, covered in current PAT stickers. We plugged it in, and it tripped the circuit breaker on the socket AND the main breaker on the entire building supply. Cause was a short inside the plug. I think commercial companies hiring out gear should do better, personally. I've had conflicting stories about whether it's even possible to test things like laptop power supplies. At work, the technicians never did these because they said there was nothing that they could test. The last bloke who did our band gear (required for a gig) insisted on doing them, maybe because he was charging per item.

I had a first generation TRB5P and only sold it to buy a BBNE2, which I think has a wider range of tones even without the piezo, the preamp is incredible.

Could be wrong about this but I think the 1005 is a 35 inch scale.

No separate thread other than Greene Kings for sale thread. It's a very nice bass with a dark sound. You were asking about Swaffham it's 16 miles SE of Kings Lynn you can probably see the lights on the wind turbine if you look out of the window!

It doesn't seem to have the tailpiece and wooden bridge setup that so many of these LP copies do and the headstock looks as though it ought to be familiar. At one time I'd have gone for this, but my GAS for short scale les paul basses has been well and truly satiated by my Duesenberg.
