1.
Tell you what ... you choose:
For Sale: Fender Precision De Luxe, Candy Apple Red, Rosewood f'b, slight buckle rash ...
2. Friend of mine made a shed-within-a-shed in his garden. Despite comments on here about the ineffectiveness of stud walls, it works really well. You can stand outside the shed and hold a conversation in a normal voice even if someone inside the shed is playing the drums at max volume. The inner booth has a floor made of paving slabs, which sit on 100mm thick Jabloc - this drastically reduces the amount of sound going out through the floor. There's some info on materials and design used here: http://www.ashbysoft.com/wiki/moin.cgi/TheShed/PartII
3.
I think its cos you said at the top of your original post 'Price or Trade Value' - so I assumed you might be open for a trade, but sadly not. Hey ho.
It's the board software that does that, not the advertisers. Just wanted to add my name to the list of people who've owned one of these, and regretted selling it. I seem to recall that BassBunny warned me at the time.
4. Think the big question is whether there is room in the cavity for the battery. I seem to recall that neipheid had to route out a space for a separate battery holder when he pimped his OLP.
5. I would love one of these, but I don't think 'er indoors would be impressed. The jacket and boots are optional: http://www.flickr.com/photos/peroleh/6804268708/lightbox/
6.
Watched Bruno Mars on bbc3 last night, live at Derry. Wow. His band is amazing. Tight as and they all look like they are having a great time. I haven't seen a performance as raw and earthy as that for years.
I enjoyed that too. As someone said, shades of James Brown and Treasure reminds me a little bit of Earth Wind and Fire. Would love to see them live. It should be on iPlayer for the next week or so, check it out if you missed it.
7. Those horrible Rotosound black nylon tapewound things were quite popular as I recall.
8.
I did a cover (well two variants) of this four years ago and the original, as Gunsfreddy has said is Eb. The bubble bit's just octave jumping Eb-Oct-Eb-Oct on a synth - I used a Roland Jupiter 6 and a Yamaha DX7 on this one: https://soundcloud.c...body-electronic
It's the bit before this , notes seem to be roughly Bb Db Eb repeated but with a bunch of swirly effects.
9.
The run up through the C# D E octaves sounds tasty imo, glad its not just me, maybe if we had a synth player who was handling the lower register it would be ok without the erb but as we don't it wouldn't be in our set on a standard tuned 4, the version in my link plays across and up and down the neck too so not really an option for a B bass either.
I use a 5-string and a Synth voice on the V-Bass. Think the original part was a synth, Greg Phillinganes played it with one hand!
10.
So, does anyone know how it's played? The whole track is fine, it's just that one little bit right at the very start. Cheers, James
Use a sample.
11. Well, the Pro II RSB Special and the Tempo Les Paul bass both fetched around £200, so maybe the market is picking up? I'd have valued them both around £150 in the current climate.
12.
Thank you. Narvik is only 90 minutes by car from here. It's actually the rival city of Harstad when it comes to everything. We always have to beat Narvik, no matter what..hehe I shouldn't mention the weather, but if you get lucky and get to experience Northern Norway on a beautiful summer day, you're in for a treat.
The diving would have to be pretty good in Harstad to beat Narvik, especially the wreck of the Hermann Kunne, which we dived on the stillest of sunny summers days. I loved my visit to Norway and would love to go back and do some more cold-water diving there. Welcome Magne.
13.
I'm watching it, but only out of idle curiosity to see where it ends up. Also in my watch list is this little beauty: http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1438.l2649 Again, I've no intention of bidding, just curious to see how close the seller gets to their ludicrously inflated (IMO) BIN price. P.
I think that's a good definition of optimism!
14. Definitely not crap - could be an absolute bargain. Anyone here fancy it? http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649
15. I'm saddened by this, Hunky Dory was formative stuff for me. Cancer is a bastard, what can we do to beat this disease?
16. I won't be buying any genuine Rickenbacker products. Copies on the other hand ...
17. I'm very interested in this and will probably bid - I've been looking for something similar for a while. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330924342226?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Does anyone know what is going on with the strange extra pickup?
18. I went to a gig, very very good reggae band called Darien Prophecy.
19. In terms of sound , you need to look at the volume of air that the cabs are moving. Chances are that a 4x10 is going to move more air than a single 12, and probably more than a single15.
20. Bertbass is spot on - I think they were based in Leeds, and nothing whatsoever to do with the river Fal in Cornwall which sounds much nicer. I inherited mine from my parents band - they used to use it as PA and I didn't have the heart to throw it away until it started blowing fuses and I couldn't fix it. Yours appears to be in much better condition.
21. Coo, he's a big lad for 8 years old. Should be fine then.
22. Good grief - I used to have a head just like that, and took it down to the tip. You didn't .... ?
23.
Interesting replies, very informative thanks. Wonder if Yamaha will ever do a JJ version as well as the PJ configuration? It might win over some Jazz bass fans. Cheers Garry
BB NE2 is a JJ version.
24. If you're going to ignore my advice and go for a 30", you want this: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/207578-squier-vintage-modified-jaguar-short-scale-for-sale-l150/
