1. Usually City Link aren't! I've never had a good experience with them.
2.
Should work fine with any OS because these sort of devices emulate keyboards and don't need any drivers or other software.
It might be OK with Windows 7. I have an Aten CS-62U which works fine with Windows 7. Unfortunately a lot of KVM switches, in common with many other USB devices, won't work properly with Windows 7. Microsoft implemented the protocol properly for the first time in Windows 7, so a lot of legacy kit made to the previous, more lax, Microsoft implementation, won't work. I tried 3 or 4 before I found the Aten. Belkin seems to be particularly bad in this respect.
3. Not mad at all. A Burman Pro 4000 is 35Kg, same weight. Now if you'd said you were thinking of buying an Ashdown, people would be queuing up to tell you you'd gone completely round the bend.
4. I'd say take it to Crack Converters and see if you can trade it for a practice amp.
5. A success with UPS booked via Interparcel standard service to report - they turned up when they said they would, collected the bass and delivered it intact the next day.
6. Nice one molan, thanks for the heads-up. Bonnie Raitt is a goddess.
7. Hm. I booked 2 UPS pickups through Interparcel on Tuesday, both were collected, and at least one of the two was delivered yesterday (Weds). Which courier?
8. I've just sold the Prosebass singlecut travel bass to Jerry (Hagar). He's a really good guy and a great communicator. Recommended. As a bonus, his house has the best name I've yet encountered on Basschat :-)
9.
Having clapped eyes on them, I'd like to suggest they be called 'Both Directions'.
I think 'One Dimension' would be a good choice.
10.
so if i got the combo and the 2x10 could I run all three speakers together as well as 1,2 or 3 and would it give me enough oomph for decent sized pub venues?
From the specs posted by neepheid, it appears that the cabinet is available as 4 Ohm or 8 Ohm. You would need to make sure that you bought the 8 Ohm version if you were going to use it as an extension to the combo - using the 4Ohm in this way will result in an overall load of 2.66 Ohms which may damage the head. The power arithmetic kind of stacks up since the combo speaker is rated at 250W, but I wouldn't put too much faith in that since things can go wrong before you reach the theoretical power handling limit. Rule of thumb is don't put the bass on "10" and if it starts to fart turn it down. It seems odd to me that a 1x10 and a 2x10 have the same power rating - I'd expect them to use the same drivers in the combo and the 2x10, so the power rating numbers might be bogus. It seems to me that the biggest factor in the amount of noise you make is the total displacement, so in this case the higher the number of drivers the louder it's going to be. That would give you more oomph, but whether that's enough depends on the loudness of the band, whether you can EQ the right sound in the mix to be heard, the size of the room and the number of punters - we can't guarantee it, you need to suck it and see!
11. Thanks Tom, Original feedback thread is here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/9588-feedback-for-peteyoung Mods, maybe you could merge these two threads?
12. Does it go up to 12?
13.
No need for that, Mr. Potty-mouth.
How do we know you're the real John Hall and not a copy?
14.
John Hall states: "Sale of such items is simply not legal and as such, you are acting as the facilitator."
This would appear to be untrue, but can you afford to blink last? Hall doesn't care about the outcome - the only reason for this is a demonstration that he's aggressively defending his trademark.
15. Dannybuoy, you need to move to Ipswich - this place is just down the road : http://foamshop.co.uk/
16. £600 will get you this: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/173213-fs-mij-fender-70ri-precision-bass-non-export/ There's also a very nice maple Kasuga in the forum somewhere if you want a Rick but can't afford one. Though I think with recent developments there might be a glut on the market here soon , stick around ;-)
17.
Did you pull the trigger on one then? Pulling an auction is one thing, but withdrawing all support and protection once the auction is over is another thing altogether.
Small claims court job against ebay?
18.
GAS much reduced. Good luck with the sale. It's a real beauty.
If it's a deal-breaker, I have a set of US precision pickups that I removed from my Not-for-export CIJ Precision. They're not bad, but there is no comparison with the Nordstrand that I replaced them with. This looks like a real beauty. I'd have said it was more Daphne Blue than Sonic Blue, but maybe it's just the light in the photos. I'm highly surprised that anyone would think not being original would affect the value of a bass made in the current century.
19. I reckon it's the innards of an old organ from the 1950's . Wurlitzer is a giveaway.
20. Weekend in Japan, trip to Ishibashi!
21.
Quite. Better stay hammered 24 hours a day, just in case.
Saves having a hangover! So where do you think we would be without the many great musicians who like, or liked, a drink? There are plenty of examples.
22. The cat is out of the bag! The pickup is half a Precision bass pickup. Straight into any guitar amp, or acoustic guitar amp, or even bass amp, no problem.
23. Oh silly me, I assumed that it was some piece of HTML tomfoolery that Firefox was refusing to interpret! Thanks for the explanations.
24. Starting today in a couple of threads (Jim Marshall and the Band Van one), I keep seeing a combination of letters: a backslash, a lower-case 'm' and a forward slash. Looks like: " \m/ " (but without the inverted commas). Any idea what this ought to be? I'm on Firefox 11.0 .
