    Slighly closer to you is Emilio Allodi http://www.accordions.co.uk/ . Website is horrendous (was designed by a vocalist, make of that what you will) . Emilio is a nice bloke though, I've dealt with Allodi in the past and would recommend him.

[/quote] Yes, the Jessup's tie clip microphone works well too and only costs about 20 quid. If you can find an old Tandy PZM on the bay, these make fantastic accordion internal mikes. Take off the plate and fix the rest of it to the reed block.

[/quote] These are all great basses for the money, but I think the 5-string versions are all 35" scale length which might not suit the OP if he has small hands. Should be able to find Bass Collection 5er for that money. The fingerboards are wide, but the necks are slim.

    I have a Morley Little Alligator which I picked up through the classifieds in this forum for not much more than a new Bespeco. Very good bit of kit, being able to set the minimum volume to a threshold is really useful for avoiding those 'where did the sound go' moments. Although it does fall down on the 'visually quiet' requirement.

[/quote] Probably not. It depends on the amp, but a lot of modern amps have parallel effects loops: they use a blend of the post-preamp clean sound and the effects in the loop. My Markbass is set up this way by default although you can change it with a jumper inside. The reason for doing this is that you still get noise even if the effect dies. Not sure what a blend of un-delayed and delay will sound like, but it won't reduce the gain. Just because guitarists do something, doesn't automatically mean it's a good idea :-)

    GK3 isn't Midi. It's a set of mini-humbuckers. The only Midi capability is what comes out of the floor unit, which in the case of V-Bass isn't much , other than the capability to save patches. So the answer to Nige's question is - it doesn't, you need a piezo bridge and a Hexpander.

My Forbidden Lover is another great piece of playing. I find Stu's book very helpful. Any tips on Everybody Dance? I find it really difficult to get that little chromatic run down in 16th notes clean, which should be the easy bit.

    Someone in another thread recommended a book called Live Sound for the Performing Musician by Paul White. I'm working my way through it - seems like an excellent book with loads of really handy explanations of everything you need to know to get by.

    I have a Columbian Tiple, which looks very similar - it has 4 courses of 3 strings, same tuning as the top 4 courses of a guitar, with top two courses in unison and the bottom two have an octave pair.

I'm selling my beloved keyboard DSS-1 due to space limit this beast it's taking in my studio. It was made in 1986 in Japan and I'm second owner since 1995. This keyboard is in absolutely perfect condition in its age, no scratches on the top, all nice and clean - all is working perfectly - sliders, buttons, display, joystick, floppy disc, keys - simply all. This keyboard has just very minor scratch on floppy disc drive and missing knob on volume slider as you can see on the pictures. Including in this sale are various sounds on floppy discs and owner's manual and service manual are burned on CD as pdf files + plenty of sounds as well. This keyboard comes with soft case (£120) used only for storage and was used twice for safe transport from my house to studio and back. Korg DSS-1 is a monster hybrid of analog, digital, and sampling-based synthesis. It has the best Voltage Controlled Filter (VCF) that Korg ever bestowed on a synthesizer (it was also the last VCF-based synth that Korg ever made. Even today, a resonant filter sweep from the DSS-1 can put all but the mightiest analog synths to shame! It's an eight-voice polysynth with two oscillators per voice, and a unison mode that allows you to stack up all 16 oscillators into one very phatt and powerful monosynth.     I have the Dunlop brick and it's a very good unit. The only thing to watch out for is the total current that you can draw through the 9v side: although it's capable of 9 and 18V, it puts something like 400mA through the 9v side and 7-800 through the 18V, which seems barse-ackwards to me.

    Well, in that case many happy returns. Where did you get your Pro 4000 from, not the non-working one on Ebay at the moment that looks like it's been recovered with carpet? Mine sounded immense through Merton's Vintage.

    OK, reporting back - 5 Mazda ECC83 , which are probably original. I seem to recall that Kiwi took 'em out to try something else and put them back again. They're pretty hot though - you lose your clean sound much above 3 on the pre-stage gain, and I was thinking about trying something with a bit less gain in my weaker moments. Power stage - I have JJ KT77s in mine and I love them. They're as close as you can get to what these amps were designed for without forking out silly money. Oddball - I think some of the guitar amps use a different valve for the spring reverb.
