Woo! It's tomorrow!! Despite Bilbo's cynicism, I'm really looking forward to playing this one. Hope to see you all there.

No Glasto 'Look at that Bass!' Thread Yet?
Jesse J for me..with the little girl How a 'new' performer had the bottle and the ability to pull that off at her biggest gig as yet (IIRC) was something else..IMO.
+1 - just watched the highlights this morning, great stuff. I'm also enjoying Gaslight Anthem. -
I've bought cable from Studiospares in the past. Fantastic service.

Now here's something that doesn't happen very often - both my bands are playing at the same music festival on the same day. The event is Stowupland Music on the Green, I'm playing at 4.30pm with Crossover and again with Waxies Dargle at 9.30pm.
I play Yates open mic every Thurs it's usually a good night.
Drat! Just got back from town and missed this! By the sound of it, Yates on Thursday 7th July sounds like it might be a suitable choice. Everyone is allowed, even banjo players and lawyers :-)
Where falling off bikes is concerned, that would indeed seem to be the case.
It could have worse, at least the ground was there to break his fall. Big +1 for Heathy for mentioning the great Rory Gallagher - I think 'Hands Off' is a brilliant song which doesn't use the 12-bar format. There are several people in this forum who should be singing the wise words of the legendary Martin Mull: Well I woke up this afternoon, and both cars were gone I was so upset, I threw my drink across the lawn.
im in..working lates next week mind..
No worries - what about the following week - first week in July? I'm working late on the Weds, Mon-Thurs is cool. Where do you suggest? I guess that the chances of finding any live music during the week are pretty slim. I am in desperate need of local info - I just made the mistake of going to Curry Corner, wtf happened to that place! It used to be the best place to go in 'nam 4 years ago, not any more!

I'm working in Cheltenham for the next few weeks. If there are any Cheltenham basschatters who fancy a mid-week beer and a chat about thing bass, please get in touch via PM.
The bass department at Andertons is a pokey corner of the cellar, almost under the stairs. Hopefully the competition will make them up their game.
It has, although I don't know if this will result in any more choice in basses. http://www.andertons.co.uk/Pages/store-refit-2011.asp . One or two good bargains to be had there at the moment too. I don't see how Guitarguitar can get away with calling a store in Epsom 'London'. That's like having a Newcastle store in Carlisle!

The one that Annoying Twit linked to didn't sell, and has been re-lilsted at £399. I still think that's too much! There are a couple of others in varying states of repair around the 300 - 350 mark. £650 is a ridiculous asking price for one of these IMHO. Happy Jack is exactly right about the neck joints - I wouldn't consider buying one of these without some very good photographs of the neck joint. As a bass, an Aerodine Jazz is superior in every possible way. I'd be looking for at least £50 your way in addition to the Senator for that Aerodyne.
In my opinion, the main problem is the amount of petrol you'll use moving the cab about when you're driving.
Sorry, but I don't buy this. An extra 90lbs is insignificant when you consider the weight of the vehicle is going to be at least a tonne to start with.
I always use 2 cabs if a drummer is involved!
My single 2x12 EBS is more than adequate for coping with a loud drummer, and gives much more bottom end than two EBS 1x12s. You would use two 8x10s? Back on topic - yes I still have two VL110s including the one that I got from headoffire and the one with the reconed driver, and I only ever use them in a pair with an EA iAmp 350, which seems like a reasonable match. Lesson learned.
I've been watching the Senator. Shame about the crap photos, which don't show the main area of concern - the neck joint. If only for that reason, I would not (as a player) recommend a bid.
Me neither. I used to have one just like this, it was my first bass guitar. The dagger headstock design marks this out as a 1964 model (not 62) and the tuners are clearly not original either , so now way is it worth the asking price. Can't remember what the bridge on mine looked like but I seem to recall it had thumbwheel height adjustors. As a bass, it wasn't great but I'll always have a soft spot for it. It was certainly better than the Vox Wyman I traded it for. What a heap of sh*te that was!
I wonder whether this means the CIJ Fender mustang bass will be discontinued
I think it's unlikely - CIJ /MIJ is predominantly produced for the internal market, not the export trade. Although what the internal market is going through given the Tsunami and following events I have no idea.
Cool I'll make sure to be at the Town 102 stage for 1pm. My friend Jen's band 80*2*90 are following you on the Town 102 stage followed by The B. Goodes who are great (Jay their bassist is a brilliant player), so I think I'll be around that stage for quite a while. Gutted I'm clashing with Saltdog as I haven't seen them for a couple of years and they always put on a great show.
Yes, I'm looking forward to hearing 80*2*90 for the first time, I've chatted to various members of the band and they're all good guys. the B Goodes are a great band and Underline The Sky are playing one of the other stages a bit later on - Chiron has been known to post here in the past. It's all looking good. Top weekend for us as we have The Pickerel in Stowmarket on Friday night too - that's always a good gig with a nice group of people.
Really good 1 day music festival, if you're local to it you're probably already aware. It's free and there are some great local bands. My band Millionaires by Morning will be playing the Attitude stage at 7pm.
I'm looking forward to this too. My band Crossover will be playing the Town 102 Stage at 1.00pm. See you there, Lloydwt!
I've gone and popped my woofer.... did you get anywhere with this? didn't even hear it going till it was too late. Did Anone find a suitable replacement driver?
I contacted EA in the states and they sold me a recone kit, which my local amp repair genius fitted. Problem solved. At one point John Dong at EA sent me a link to a site in the US with what he thought was the nearest commercial offering to the VL110 driver, but unfortunately I don't still have the email or the link. I think your best bet is to get in touch with EA and see if they still have any recone kits.

JAB is the Fender Japan model designation for the Jaguar Bass. The 'S' at the start of the Serial number indicates that it was made between 2006 and 2008. Don't know about the H05, sorry.

I realise that the bills have to be paid one way or another, but If I were someone with kids, or someone who was running a family-friendly site, I wouldn't be happy to see some of the ads that have been cropping up lately - for example ZooSK or even Match.com . It would be a big incentive for me to enable adblock, so that I didn't see any ads, including the more sensibly targetted ones. Just sayin' .

Maybe I'm biased, but I think the CIJ or MIJ not for export Precisions with US hardware and pickups offer an unbeatable combination of quality and value. I'd strongly recommend you find someone who has one and give it a try before you commit.

Amplifing an accoustic guitar for gigs
pete.young replied to jezzaboy's topic in Accessories and Misc
I've had a lot of success with a Behringer AD121, which is the acoustic guitar equivalent of the BD121 Sansamp clone. It works well with either magnetic or piezo pickups and can be picked up from t'bay for about 35 quid. It also has a DI, so you can go straight from that into the PA provided of course that you can put something back into the monitors or he wont be able to hear anything! Plugging acoustics into guitar backline usually doesn't work very well in my experience. Having said all that, I've now started using a Roland AR60 - this has the added benefit of being able to be stuck on a PA pole next to my ear so I can still hear the dulcet tones of my mandolin and bouzouki over the racket made by the drummer! -
