Tricky isn't it, there are so many worthy causes. I like the approach of charging a full fee and then making a donation once you've been paid.

I have a Gold Tone tenor in Irish tuning and a Windsor Premier 5-string old-time banjo. I also have a Cammeyer zither banjo which is currently for sale in the London branch of Hobgoblin.

How does it sound, Wayne? I'm in Milton Keynes myself on Tuesday for work!

Stuart Clayton's book Ultimate Slap Bass is really good if you can find a copy - unfortunately it seems to be out of print at the moment but maybe a 'Wanted' ad will do the trick.

Tell him that you're happy for him to supply sheet music for bass parts for all the songs a week before the concert and you'll attend the final rehearsal the day before the gig.

If you want to try it with a 2x12 before you commit, drop me a PM and we'll work something out.

I've been into the PMT store in Birmingham a few times, tried a few things out, bought a reasonably expensive electric piano and a few other bits and pieces. I found the staff to be always friendly, helpful, attentive and happy to leave you to try things out without getting in your face every 2 minutes - couldn't be better really.
I guess that yours will be a Wheatstone given the age and the fact that you know the exact year.
Yes, that one is a bit of a collection of bits and pieces. The reeds and reed pans are Wheatstone, the number has been dated by Steve Dickinson. The ends are Lachenal with glass keys, and probably date to the 1920's. The bellows are 7-fold by Harry Crabb, my mum had them put on in the 1960's. But it's a real ol' original axe ;-) .

You are Steve Howe and ICMFP! That's some collection, very nice indeed. Do those hotplate things actually work, and if so how much power can they handle?
I've got two Vigier Passions and the necks are the best I've ever played, with an incredibly solid feel to them which I like, I now find a lot of necks feel a bit 'bendy' or 'lively', don't know how to describe it really!
Hi Dave, How do they compare with the neck on the Dean B2 ? I think that's the skinniest neck I've ever played

Here's another airing for my Burman Pro 2000 pic, 53kg of loveliness, sitting under the Pro 4000 bass head:
Wow! Has anyone ever played it? It looks untouched. Very nice!
Thanks. It hasn't had a lot of use: I'm not a guitarist so I don't play it much, and my son is more interested in his Fenders. Also, it gives out an immense signal, and the only guitar amp in the house is a Burman 100W valve combo, so it's a bit loud. Not sure what to do with it really - it probably needs to go to a good home, but I don't know how to go about finding one for it.
can you run an extension cab on this??? if so... what ohmage???
Minimum load for these is 4 Ohm, so you can either run an 8 Ohm extension speaker, or disconnect the built-in driver (the angled jack plug in the photo) and connect some other combination of cabs to get your 4 Ohm load.

HELP: Compressor - before the input or in the effects loop?
pete.young replied to Moos3h's topic in Effects
Hi folks, Never used an outboard compressor before - its a pedal one. I have a Stringray-a-like bass (active) going into a GK head. Should the compressor go in front of the amp or in its effect loop?
Probably in front of the amp, and any other pedals. Thing about the effects loop is that it is often parallel, so you get a blend of the clean signal and any effects you put in the loop (and if a pedal dies, you still get some sound). This is probably OK for effects, but pretty useless for compressors when you want to compress all of the signal for most (if not all) of the time. -
Crikey. Wasn't expecting it to go for that much.
I have been told that mark at Bass Direct can help here. I think the medium skinz bag is perfect for the Reidmar.
I have a Gigskinz medium mixer bag which is a perfect fit for my iAmp 350, so this must be quite a big amp. I hope the one I have is not representative of the quality - the main bag has held together but the pocket zips only lasted a matter of weeks. I think you'd probably be better off with a laptop briefcase.
Until you come back to me - Aretha Frankiln
+1 for this, what an immense bassline on that track. I do believe that Chuck also contributed a number of tracks to the 'Nightfly' album by Donald Fagen, along with Marcus Miller and other luminaries.

SOLD- Korg G5 Bass Synth, fully working, clean condition
pete.young replied to nemo's topic in Effects For Sale
I used to own one of these. Brilliant piece of kit, wish I had never sold it. It will work off a generic 9V supply, but these take about 1.5 amps so your generic supply needs to be up to it. A Dunlop brick only delivers about half an amp at 9v - I ended up running the brick for all my other effects and the dedicated PSU for the G5. Good luck with the sale.
