1. SGC Nanyo Bass Collection , Made in Japan. Except this isn't made in Japan at all, it's a later (probably Chinese) copy. Be careful out there. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=250798115622

Sold by another idiot who doesn't know how to put the strings on properly. It's not the highest spec either, there were 460 series and 660 series which had paduak and zebrano tops. But as you say, a tidy guitar.
 3.
My strings arrived but I think I bought the wrong gauge (the E in particular feels too thick). I've put them on the bass obviously, so am I right in thinking I can't send them back for a replacement?
You have to ask??
 4.
OP's in Lowestoft, got to be a Darkness tribute surely?
Might be the actual Darkness, they're strong contenders to turn into their own tribute band :-)
 5.
Yep, a nice Warwick will fit the bill!
http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=103287&st=0
 6. I'll take this if it's still available. Please could you PM to sort out the details.
 7. Did you see this in the For Sale forum? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=120780
 8. Well, there is one which just about qualifies - West End Music, which seems to have been there for ever. The vibes are pretty good. But they don't have a lot in the way of basses, and most of their stock is low-end stuff. They do occasionally have some interesting older second-hand guitars, but few basses. The shop in Bury probably has a better selection. There are other music shops with a reasonable selection of entry-level guitars, but for bass you're so close to Darren at the Bass Merchant that there's not much point in going via Ipswich.
 9. If it has to be an unlined fretless and you don't want a Fender, that is going to limit your options somewhat. I'm biased because I have one, but I think you should consider a Bass Collection SB320 fretless. They come up on the 'bay occasionally - the factory-made fretless has an unlined ebony board and plays beautifully. TheRev has just put a defretted one up for trade in the 'For Sale' forum which will give you an idea of what they look like. If you make it as far as Ipswich you're welcome to come and try mine, and I'm happy to go and check out basses if you end up looking at something at this end of the county.
 10.
I`m in the process of sending a bass to Denmark, and its approx £60 via www.parcel2go.com, including insurance up to £650. Def worth a look.
Parcel2go is a Parcelforce reseller. There are many threads already on this site explaining that Parcelforce won't insure any instrument for more than 200 quid, even if you pay the excess. I'd be inclined to use someone else. Having been burned on overseas shipping charges and the exchange rate in the past, I won't be selling anything outside the UK anytime soon.
 11.
Here's an interesting looking one. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Stafford-TEISCO-Holl...=item5d2e208f4a
Indeed interesting, although I've gone off him already for the gratuitous use of TEISCO, which it almost certainly isn't! BTW if anyone does happen to have a Teisco Gold Foil pickup that they want to find a home for, please get in touch.
 12. I think it looks a bit like this, but with fewer frets. Must get some decent pictures done. The temptation to have a matching fretted/fretless pair was strong, but I resisted.
 13.
You still have the Distance selling regs on your side.
Really? I thought that was UK legislation. He's in Portugal, the shop is in Germany.
 14. When I first heard 'Canned Heat' by Jamiroquai, I thought I'd never get within a million miles, but it turned out to be less of a big deal than I thought. Likewise 'Twisted' , Rhythm Stick and Bilbo's favourite Ain't Nobody. I'm currently enjoying some of Bernard Edwards lines. I'm working on Everybody Dance, and getting it up to speed and clean (particularly that 32nd-note chromatic run down in the 4th bar) is difficult, but hopefully rewarding.
 15.
I'm about to upgrade completely and order a GB streamliner and Bergantino AE112 cab. I'm 50, no kids, an understanding wife, pretty well paid, no great debt and would normally buy cash except when 0% interest is available. So why not ???
I'm in a similar position, and I wouldn't use this system again - for two reasons: One, their finance department screwed up the collection of payments. It's a long story, we eventually rang up and said, just tell us what we owe and we'll pay it off. Two: when they did, and we did, it turns out that they got that wrong as well. And some of the threats and tactics they used on me were beyond the pale, given that it was their screw-up in the first place. Made me very angry and I'll never use the scheme again, or encourage anyone else I know to do so. If you do this, never ever answer phone calls. Make sure everything is in writing. It probably won't go wrong for you, but if it does ...
 16. Well, i wonder, what colour the sky is in this guy's world. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Wilson-Rapier-Bass-G...=item45f970bf77 This is really worth 50 quid more than AndyTravis fretless CIJ PB70 ? Well this one is worth nearly as much, apparently. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/vintage-wem-rapier-w...=item2eb40169bf Unbelievable. These were horrible pieces of firewood - has everyone lost their minds?
 17.
What's the usual commissioned-sale rate these days, from the music shops?
Hobgoblin is 33%
 18.
Anyone else heard of this?
I'm wondering exactly what items would fall into this category - most modern consumer electronics will happily accept voltages from 110 to 240.
 19.
No-one around here can afford a flat cap. The last one I'm aware of was burned for fuel during the winter.
Have you ever tried setting fire to a whippet?
 20. Arbiter. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ARBITER-BASS-GUITAR-...=item2562391d24 Don't think this listing will be there for long due to the 'R' word being used again!
 21. niceguyhomer was also looking for one of these.
 22.
Wow. One of my bands is cover band. Do you use your effects to achieve a sound as close as possible to the original bass sound or is it to change the sound of your basses regardless of song?
Guilty as charged. I use a V-Bass with my covers band, which is playing stuff from the '70s up to the present day. Originally this was because I heard Ped play some great synth sounds at a bass bash with absolutely no tracking or technique issues (mind you he does have pretty good technique!). And we have quite a few things which sound better with synths, either analog or more modern. I also have a really neat little Novastation which does great bass sounds, but it's just more convenient to have it all in one place and I haven't got around to trying that instead with the band. I quickly found that it was also useful to be able to switch between stingray, jazz, precision and T-Bird sounds and if you want to experiment you can also emulate specific sounds, for example the dreaded 'Dont Stop' which I think has a great and very distinctive bass sound. All at the flick of a footswitch. And then there are things like the Muse version of 'Feelin Good', which call for a bass, a fretless bass and a double bass all in one song. No problem. As for the technique comments, I think you have that bass-ackwards. Anyone using a synth or octave pedal needs to have really clean and precise technique or it sounds like a horrible mess.
 23. You don't see these very often. Well, I do - I've got one and I'm looking at it now, but there aren't many about. For once an auction which really deserves the soubriquet mega rare, and I thought I'd post it here because the listing is so well written and funny.
