1.
Were you planning to mention a price?
It's in the included thread. £650 or swap for a TRB5P Mk 1.
 2. Just beginning to wonder if I've done the right thing. I can't wait to see what the band thinks. Picture doesn't really do justice to the vividness of the colour:
 3.
All paypal users agree to abide by their T&Cs which includes not charging for accepting payments via paypal, it's not an ebay exclusive term.
From the PayPal terms and conditions: "4.5 Non discouragement. In representations to your customers or in public communications, you agree not to mischaracterise or disparage PayPal as a payment method. You agree that you will only surcharge for the use of PayPal in compliance with any law applicable to you. You further agree that if you do charge a buyer any form of surcharge that you, and not PayPal, will inform the buyer of the requested charge. PayPal has no liability to any buyer where you have failed to inform the buyer of any surcharge. You acknowledge that if you are permitted to surcharge and your further fail to disclose any form of surcharge to a buyer this may constitute a criminal offence by you." As far as I know, I'm not in breach of any UK laws by telling people that if they want to pay me by paypal, they can cover the fees.
 4.
I hope the Futurama basses are better than the original 60's ones. My 1st bass (Christmas '74) was a 2nd hand Futurama loosely based on a Jazz. Cost £10. Pure sh*te!
In the late '70s, I owned an original Futurama bass from the '60s, a Hagspiel Coronado IV, branded 'Futurama'. If you scroll down past the 6string you can find one here: http://www.hagstrom.org.uk/Hagstrom_future_is_past.htm Mine was an excellent bass with a huge tone. I wish I still had it. Rumour has it that it found it's way to Richard Sinclair of Caravan/Hatfield and the North fame at one point.
 5.
The fees are the sellers responsibility
Not here they're not. This isn't ebay. It's up to the parties in the transaction to negotiate an acceptable method of payment.
 6.
I don't know whether their is a post or thread on this forum or not, but it would make complete sense to address couriers as a whole, especially ones like Home Delivery Network who have been contracted by Belgian Post to delivery this bass and at every step of the process have failed, apart from the fantastic result that I've got the bass and tonight and tomorrow I'm looking forward to playing it!!!!!!!
There certainly is! http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=36625 . It would be good if you'd add some feedback. I'm very glad there's a happy ending to this saga. By the sound of it Home Delivery Network are well worth avoiding.
 7.
Does the Variax bass do that? Could I go down to bottom F sharp? Now I'm excited!
Sorry, but no. In order to retune the Variax you need the Variax Workbench, which only works with the guitars..
 8.
What about a stand alone stomp box that did this though?
Digitech Whammy does it.
 9. I have an SE2A in my Bass Collection, all good so far although one of the concentric pots needs a squirt of switch cleaner to stop it crackling. I hope that's all it needs!
 10.
In fact it turns out that the previous owner of the bass (he just PM'd me) found the truss rod pretty stiff to adjust, even with lower tension strings.
I'm just wondering how the tension of the strings can have anything to do with how hard it is to adjust the rod. You are loosening off the strings before you increase the tension in the rod, yes?
 11. Wow, what a fabulous piece of wood. By the way Gareth, check out Paul Hathway if you're looking for a mandola.
 12.
My old Selmer Treble & Bass. I always thought it was one grim amp, but now they're supposedly cla££ic...
+1 Also, the Vox Wyman. Not a single redeeming feature. Bought and sold for £15 in the early '70s and I was glad to break even. Now changing hands for sums in the region of a grand. Still just as rubbish as they were in the early '70s.
 13. Hi Ashley, Yes, it's still available - do you want to drop me a PM and we'll work out a way to get it down to London for you to have a look at.
 14.
A huge thanks to Nik, Colin and co for working so hard to set this up and to those who gave teach-ins (compression was never so entertaining!). A good time was had by all! And as I understand a decent amount of money was raised for some worthwhile causes. RIP Old Git
Couldn't have put it better. Well said. What a great pleasure it was to meet some old friends and make some new ones.
 15. I got a set from Select Sounds LLC in the US. Not only was the price good, they arrived with two free quality tea-bags so I could enjoy a nice cup of tea while I'm fitting them. That's what I call service!
 16. Graphtec hexpander? http://www.graphtech.com/products.html?SubCategoryID=15
 17.
So, does anyone have one? Anyone got any thoughts on these? Or can anyone suggest another similarly priced Jazz 5-er I might also be (very easily) entranced by? Cheers for your thoughts.
I had one for a while and it sold on here for £350, the going rate for a clean second-hand one which I think is a lot of bass for the money. It's not fair to compare it to a Jazz, since it will do convincing P-bass and Stingray impressions too. Very versatile great sounding bass and the only reason I moved mine on was because the neck was a little chunky I decided I prefer a wider string spacing and a flatter thinner profile neck.
 18. A "this will definitely be going to the SE bass bash" type bump. If anyone can explain why searching the forum for 'Epiphone', 'Flying' or 'Vee' doesn't find this posting I'm all ears.
 19.
Thanks! Anyway, I was looking for BF Vintage users to comment about their amps...
Well, we gave Merton's a good work out at last year's SE Bass Bash with my Burman Pro 4000 and it sounded very loud to me, and I'm going deaf!
 20.
Most of the people who have the right (i.e. big enough) transport to move cabs as tall as a vertical 4x10 would probably be using 8x10s or 2 ("normal") 4x10s anyway, given the choice.
Back in the '70's we all had WEM PA column speakers, roughly the same size and weight as a vertical 4x10. I used to transport a pair in my minivan, no problemo. Even had room for the double bass in there too.
 21. Well possibly. And when I say cricket bat, I don't mean those funny hohners with no head or body.
 22.
Is this lefty flippable?
Vees were quite popular with left handers when they first came out, so I don't see why not. You'd need to move the bottom strap button onto the other point and probably replace the nut.
