1. Many thanks for the responses guys. I had my doubts and it seems that they are well-founded.
 2. Depends what sound you're after. If you want that Jaco zing you need to go with roundwounds and prepare to accept a bit of wear to the fingerboard - rosewood, yes? Flats will be kinder but sound, er, flatter. The feel is different too. Half-rounds somewhere in the middle. Depends on the price - if it's all the same, half-rounds might be a good choice. Not much help that, sorry. I have EB flats on my fretless partly to minimise further wear on the ebony board, and they sound zingy enough for my purposes.
 3. Stunning. Are you sure you want to do this?
 4. Bass Ukelele? Hell no. I was in Hobgoblin Music in London earlier today, and downstairs they have a bass mandolin. It looks like this: Yes, those are real full-size guitars in the picture.
 5.
Does it come with the trolley?
Ha ha, yes please take the trolley, even without the bass! You'll have to come and collect it though!
 6.
Maybe not feasible but I think it would be helpful to buyers and sellers if there were specific sub-forums So for "Basses for sale", there could be: 4 string; 5 string; acoustic/other For "Amps & Cabs", there would be: amps; cabs; combos; rigs and so on Would really help in searching for specific bits of kit - lets say I wanted to find a 5-string Fender Deluxe Jazz, for example, the search string would currently pull up dozens of items containing Fender and Jazz and it would take a fair while to sift through to find if anything actually fitted the bill - if there was a 5-string sub-forum this could be done very quickly to the benfit of both buyer and seller
Use google as a search engine rather than the one built-in to the basschat site - just add site:basschat.co.uk to the search .
 7.
ok, so now I'm sorted for a mono strap Comfort Strapp now up for a straight sale £15 ovno
PM on it's way
Okay lets change the topic... What do you consider to be the best valve head?
Burman. Next!
 10. This Yamaha SB 500 is worthy of an entry here for a couple of reasons: it certainly ain't crap, and it appears to be Ishibashi trying to move it on! 11. Aria The Cat, in a lovely red colour. This looks like it might be worth a punt. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aria-Pro-II-2-The-Ca...=item483ae20ac9
 12.
Vintage and Rare Guitars, on Denmark Street. The bass collection isn't a pop on the guitar collection, but there's usually a couple of tasty 70s fenders, an old rick and some kind of hollowbody in there. The staff have always been nice to me too.
Yes, +1 for V&R. Simone is lovely. If you're into acoustic instruments, Hobgoblin in Rathbone Place is worth a look. They're so nice! and you never know, you might bump into Paul McCartney shopping for mandolins.
 13. Well, if Dogame can be bothered to take the backplate off and have a look for a battery that will tell us straight away. The 'overhaul' was probably due to SGC Nanyo going bust and production being restarted by SX, probably in Korea.
 14. I think it's a 310. I have one which is identical. What's the serial number? The first two digits will give the year of manufacture, at least for the Japanese ones.
 15.
Brand new and unused, have no use for it. £10 shipped? Its this one:
Hi Kev, I'll take it for £10 shipped if you've still got it - Paypal OK or would you prefer something more traditional? Kind regards, Pete
 16. I was wondering if anyone here in the London/Essex area has had any dealings with Yes Entertainments - www.yesentertainments.co.uk . My band is considering signing up with them. PM is fine if you prefer.
 17. At the risk of repeating the above mentioned thread, Parcel2go and all the parcelforce resellers have a limit of damage for a musical instrument between £150 and £200 and this can't be increased. I too have had a bad experience with Parcelmonkey and wouldn't recommend them for anything valuable. Unfortunately when things go wrong, there is no organ grinder, just the monkey.
 18.
godDAMN it, I just spent my pedal money on a seek trem, for £215 this is a bargain
£350 Euros is £300 near as makes no difference at current exchange rate. Not sure where you get £215 from.
 19. Slight plug for my G&L Tribute 2500 in the 'for sale' forum, which has a narrow neck and 16mm string spacing
 20.
Royal Mail Special Delivery next day has an insurance limit of £2500 (and no hidden restrictions on musical instruments that I can find - of course they may be very well hidden ....)
Size limits of 600mm x 480mm x 480mm ? Might be OK if you removed the neck, but not ideal for neck-through designs!
 21.
Yeha, definitly looking for something that isn't heavy. I say I'm after Full Range because I'm not bothered about the 'sound' of different size speakers...if that even exists (Alex says it doesn't )...I just want a cab that will give a full sound regardless of speakers.
Have you thought about a 2 x 12? Very happy with my EBS Neo, gives a very full sound and is an easy one-hand lift - 24 Kg.
