G&L Tribute L2500 has a narrow nut width and string spacing is 17mm. I've got one of these for sale, due to appear in the for sale forums as soon as I can get my act together!
I was a bit anxious because I thought 'what if it breaks' ...
You call me, and I lend you one. That's what.
sorry but i know i said genius is in the eye of the beholder but 'Gary Barlow'????
This from the man who proposed Shakin' Stevens? Dunno if there's an award for the most pointless thread on Basschat ever, but for my money this is a clear winner.

The fount of all knowledge about Bass Collection basses on the Internet is this thread: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;hl=Backwaters Despite my repeated pleas to the Mods to have it re-stickied, I have been ignored. But I'm not bitter. Anyway, in this thread you'll find pictures of my SB 465 which is nearly identical, apart from the 5th string. The top is almost certainly Walnut, the fingerboard is gorgeous ebony, the rest of the body and the neck are maple. Mine is the nicest most playable bass I've ever owned, and I'm sure this one will be just as good. Hopefully someone with a clue will realise what a bargain this is and snap it up. Have a free bump on me.

This would have been about 1971 - 1964 Hofner Senator, through a red and white Watkins Westminster combo (with real tremelo!) that my old man bought for his electric mandolin. Just like this one: http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/britamps/wa...ster/west2.html.

+1 for the Roland V-Bass. Consolation prize, try and find something with a Piezo bridge. I have a Dean B2 with one of these, and while it doesn't sound like an upright bass, it does make a nice woody quasi-acoustic noise.
2 minutes in and I realise this is not jazz covers of Sex pistols songs.
Marvellous bit of bass playing - the section in the middle where he's playing bass AND rhythm guitar at the same time ... Gotta love that V-Bass. I was hoping for punk rock versions of jazz standards! Like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eb7qqGLGPZM
You can add a second 8Ohm cabinet to that channel at a later date.
You could, but you'd be better off to add another cabinet (8 ohm or 4 ohm, it won't matter much) to the second channel - that'll give you more bang per buck. LG1000s aren't bridgeable, they are two separate 500 W into 4 Ohms units.
technically neither is standard thinking about it, i converted them both to use kettle plug leads
You did the right thing dude, those old Bulgin plugs were a lethal accident waiting to happen.

Does anyone have tab or a transcription for the bassline to I'm Outta Love, by Anastacia? I think it's a synth bass line.
His dad Charles was a nasty piece of work, though.
Actually, his (Hugh's) dad was and is Andy Manson, a spectacularly gifted luthier who has produced some beautiful instruments over the last thirty five years.

Courier points system and courier issues
pete.young replied to paul, the's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
I think based on recent experience it's safe to say that no one should ever use ParcelMonkey for anything, ever. Especially not for anything valuable. This has to have been the worst experience I've ever had, not only of courier services, but of EVERY service I've ever used on the Internet since 1987. -
What are you listening to right now?

A load of Pogues stuff. I've just joined a Pogues tribute band. Teeth are on order from http://www.billybobteeth-direct.co.uk/ And, and, The Chieftains featuring Ry Cooder, San Patrizio. Extraordinary. -
In a strange turnaround, I now find that I am the designated/only driver in my band. Getting all of the equipment and people for a rock/metal five piece into my car (bar the drums for rehearsals thank goodness) is pushing things!
Buying and insuring a transit van, split between 5 people, is going to be a lot more reasonable than buying a bunch of expensive lightweight bass gear, split between one person!

Anyone ever played in a Bon Jovi tribute?
pete.young replied to Jamesemt's topic in General Discussion
OK all you JBJ lovers, time for a quick straw poll. If you were looking for a Bon Jovi number to cover, would Sleep When I'm Dead be on the list? Someone in the band suggested we have a crack at it, but I think it's one of the more obscure songs and less likely to get a reaction from non-JBJ fans than some of the more well known songs. -

Eilert Pilarm, the Swedish Elvis. Unbelievable for all the wrong reasons. And the Bassballs. Brilliant. -

Carl Radle. What a waste of talent!
pete.young replied to The Burpster's topic in General Discussion
When out of curiosity I wiki'd Radle to find out what he was doing now, I discovered he died in 1980 at 38 from drugs and booze abuse...... What an absolute waste and a crying shame.
+1, a sad loss at a young age. His playing on 461 Ocean Boulevard is immaculate. -
If I was gonna spend a reasonably large sum of money for something thats going to last me for a number of years, the last think I'd do is offer to share it with a bunch of people I didn't know. By all means upgrade your stuff but hang onto the Laney precisely for jobs like this. If the other bands hear 'yes there's backline but it's a POS 165W Laney' they might be more inclined to offer to bring their own gear!
So it all kicked off around 8PM while the first band were on the merch guys from Tyrannosaurus Alan were being threatened by a bunch of racists for selling 'Bollocks to the BNP' shirts, fair dues to the lads they stood up to them and security had to come over and escort the racist m*****f***ers away.
Where can I get one of those shirts from, Wayne? We had a great gig in The Bull in Colchester last night - top local venue packed with happy dancing punters, got to use my SB460 for the first time and it felt so right.
