1. And the sergeant came along and said: Ooooh! Snap!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SGC-Nanyo-Bass-Colle...=item3cab7dade7
 2. A very tidy-looking Columbus Jazz, for what seems to me to be a realistic price. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/70s-Columbus-Jazz-Ba...=item4a9fc3ce5d I had one like this in the late '70s and it was OK And a short-scale EB0 Columbus copy too. The woods are full of 'em! One of these sold before Xmas for £215, and I thought that was a lot.
 4.
Yamaha BB1200. A quick google suggests that this is MIJ, while the BB1000 is made in Taiwan. But, a quick google does not always reveal the truth!
No, indeed it doesn't. I have a BB800 from 1979 ish which is definitely made in Japan. AFAIK BB800 and BB1000 were made in Japan between 1977 and 1981, and I thought that they were then discontinued. Could be wrong about that.
 5. Someone was looking for one of these in the 'Wanted' section a couple of days ago. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=81596
 6. Hi Gaz, PM about to be sent regarding the V-Bass system!
 7. It looks to me to be the twin brother of BassBunny's 405. I guess you didn't find the 'Obscure Musical Backwaters' thread, which has photos and other interesting details. I wish the mods would re-sticky the thread, but obviously they've stopped listening to my pleas (despite it being the most informative Bass Collection resource on the entire Internet, and something that continues to attract visitors to Basschat). But I'm not bitter. Value's a tough one. Everything is on the floor at the moment, but I'd hope it would be worth £250 on a good day.
 8.
However browsing around, 2x12 isn't anywhere near as common as 2x10 ..... SO ... the next question is any recommendations what I should be looking at. I want around 300w. If it is going to be a challenge I would be OK with a separate amp into a 2x12 cab.
Most 12" Neo drivers seem to be 300W 8Ohms, which means that most Neo 2x12 cabs are 600W 4 Ohm. There are exceptions but I cant name one at the moment. I have an EBS which I bought second-hand on this forum. I think a 2x12 will give a better sound than a pair of 1x12s - the drivers seem to work better in a bigger box. The other factor in all of this is your budget, of course!
 9.
Can anyone point me in the direction of the smallest 8ohm, 300w cab you can think of. Consider that this is regardless of music style and volume as its just for bedroom playing along with my LMII. Any ideas?
Tecamp 1x10 or EA VL110 are close enough at 250 W. For less than the price of either one of those Roland Combos with 4x5" drivers. Why on earth do you need a 300W cab for bedroom playing? 100W is plenty, just back the gain off!
 10.
He plays a Bass Collection and i play a Ken Smith, hence the nervousness.
I've got 3 Bass Collections. One of them is the finest bass I've ever played. Straight swap for a Ken Smith? No way.
 11.
I agree that location needs to be known but, as someone mentioned in a similar post a while ago, why not stick it in your profile too?...That way you know straight away where the person is based.
It seems reasonable - mine is. Trouble is that a lot of people just come here to sell stuff and don't give a sh*t about forum etiquette.
 12.
I will master that G&L though, damn it!
Whatever it is , it ain't the G&L. davec came to see my band once when I was playing my G&L, and he said " I don't know what you did but the bass really cut through", and what I did was bridge pickup, 'active with added treble boost' and hiked the mids a bit.
 13.
Where's Sting when you really need him.
Nobody knows. The situation has never, and will never, arisen.
 14. I think it's time for the "x posts before you're allowed to sell anything" debate again.
 15.
if your amp is rated at 1000w at 4ohms then you cant put two 4ohm cabs threw it if you do you will run the very serious risk of blowing your amp up. your choices are simple either change your cabs/speakers for two 8ohms cabs rated at anything up to 500w per cab personally i would have them at about 350-400 for the sake of head room or run the single cab and keep the volume down far enough that the cab isnt complaining about it.
I don't think this is quite right. According to the manual, the LGs are 2 x 500 Watt into 4 Ohms, not 1000W into a single 4 Ohm load. What the OP probably needs is either a pair of 500W-ish 4 Ohm cabs, or two 350W-ish 8 ohm cabs. I suspect you wouldn't really notice the difference in overall volume between running each side at 4 or 8 ohm. When I had a technical question about a piece of Ashdown gear, I emailed the support line and got an answer back the same day. I suggest that rather than guess, or spend a load of money on something you don't need, it might be worth doing the same.
 16.
See, I'll admit he was very funny on occasion, but I could never handle the mindless bigotry.
You have to admit that he revolutionised the art of farming Turkeys though.
 17.
Even then is it worth spending 5k on an instrument?
It's all relative. Check out the prices of professional-quality double basses. You don't get much for less than £20 grand. A professional quality Tuba will set you back 5k.
 18.
I reckon you've learnt a little about IP adresses now ,, STUPID BOY !!!
It seems to have worked this time, but in general you can't place too much reliance on apparent source IP addresses - there are plenty of anonymising sites which will all show the same source IP, and there are massive proxy systems like messagelabs which ditto.
 19.
As a lifelong biker I really would NOT recommend bungeeing a Midget to the back of a bike! Too big, too bulky, too heavy. Strapped to the pillion seat and you won't be able to get off & on the bike. Use a rack and the bike will be so tail-heavy that the handling will be seriously sh*t.
Come on Jack, where's your sense of adventure? I used to work with a guy who used to cart all his diving equipment, excluding cylinder but including everything else including weights on the back of a Triumph Tiger by using a large plastic box bungeed to the seat and a big backpack. I've transported my Tecamp Puma 110 combo on the carrier of my folding bicycle once or twice, although admittedly not for very long distances. I think you could bungee one of these onto a reasonable carrier and it might fit into a big top box or pannier.
 20.
It's back again! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SGC-Nanyo-Chameleon-...=item2c5308f262
Deep joy. I've seen this listed a few times, but not been tempted! Not sure what a SB100 is but given it also seems to have a CE marking I guess this is one of the more recent efforts from China? Not surprised that the last bidder bailed out. £165 should get you a real Japanese SGC Nanyo in a more acceptable colour.
 21. If you can see any further than a Jazz shape, it might be worth talking to Paul Rose (prosebass) about some of his recent designs - I think there are some threads in the affiliates forum.
 22. I have one of these cabs too, and I can't imagine ever needing the volume that two would produce! Just as well none of my amps will run down to 2 Ohms. They work just as well with classic British valve amps as they do with modern Class D stuff.
 23. Enfield/Barnet? Was hoping for something a bit more, well, London.
 24.
Cheers Pete, that's one I hadn't thought of, and it certainly seems a possibility! I shall have to try to find someone with one at the next bass bash
Should have tried mine at the last SE bass bash! I'll bring it to the London one if it happens.
 25. G&L 2500 Tribute? Does a very convincing Stingray impression and you should be able to pick one up for £350 or less on this forum.
