1. I have a Korg G5 for sale. I bought it because I couldn't get either the Digitech BSW or the Behringer SYB-5 clone to work for me - the Behringer wouldn't track and the BSW was a great octave pedal but almost unuseable as a synth.
2.
I'm happy to hand it off to you after I'm done, if that meets with Alex's approval. I'm often over in Bury/Newmarket, so can meet there if more convenient
OK, you're 16th on the list, so assuming that no-one else inserts their name ahead of yours in the meantime, you should get it around January/February 2011.
3.
Cheers Alex Looking forward to trying the cab out when it gets here! On a related note, if there's anyone else in the Cambridge area who fancies meeting up at any point to have a noodle and chat about basses, then PM me! HTH, Ian
Yes, count me in. It's the closest it's likely to get to Suffolk. I waited 6 months last time after it was routed the opposite way round the country and it got recalled before it made it this far. Cambridge mini-bash?
4. Thanks Steve, this has really made basschatting a lot easier.
5. I'd always understood the 'Jazz Growl' to be what happens when you have both pickups full-on - because the pickups are out of phase this results in a mid-range scoop.
6.
I saw Rocco Prestia playing a Precision with the PUPs reversed, that is, the top PUP (E and A strings) was closer to the bridge than the other. I assume this would make the A and E strings slightly tighter sounding whilst having the opposite effect on the D and G? Any thoughts/experience of this?
I have a BB800 with the PUP reversed and it doesn't make any appreciable difference.
7.
No, and the laws of physics say otherwise. The tension increases when the length of string that is under tension is increased, not the 'speaking' length of the string. Hence string-thru-body does have a small increase in tension, and basses with separate tailpieces might also have similar.
Are you certain about this? My recollection of the laws of physics, or at least the laws of applied mechanics, is that the tension in a string depends purely upon the force applied, and is independent of the length of string. Tension is also constant when it passes over a smooth pulley, in this case the string saddle or the nut. String-through doesn't increase the tension, but it is likely to increase the downward force on the saddle because the angle of string is generally steeper with string-through.
8. I thought that noelk27 was looking for one of these a while back. Maybe drop him a PM?
9. Still for sale. Still no trades, except for GK3-B
10.
Any trade interest in anything I'm selling… http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=86369
No. As I said to you in PM, I am now using a Roland V-Bass and I don't need any more pedals. The only thing I'm interested in as a trade-in is a GK3-B pickup.
11. Very nice Aria precision copy http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aria-Pro-II-Primary-...=item1e5bd2503d This looks more like a '70s Precision than my CIJ 70's Precision re-issue!
12.
Ok I'll concede, you know what sound I like better than I do , your amp sounds better than mine at doing my sound, and your equipment is much more reliable. And your gear makes you a much better player I better start saving...............
Look on the bright side - At least you didn't ask him which compressor pedal would improve the sound of your rig the most ;-)
13.
Why don't you just simply mute your signal (with a tuner pedal for example) and use the same cable for all your 3 bases? Just need to unplug the bass, lay it down on the stand, pick another up and connect the jack! I used to play with 2 bases, a electric and a acoustic bass and used a Boss AB-2 to switch betwen both but the trouble you get from keeping the cables from wrapping arround themselves or even your legs simply isn't worth the trouble... and you save more battery having them disconnected (if active). As for your use of the looper i guess you'll have no problem with it. Go either way
One reason is that they don't all have 6mm jacks. It's a good point about the leads though.
14. I need a pedal which will allow me to select one of three basses, and turn the other two off so they don't resonate or start feeding back. THere's a mega-expensive pedal called the 'Trinity' which does this, but I'm not into spending 150 quid on a fancy switch, so I was wondering whether I could use my Double-loop bypass (which no-one seems to want to buy) like this: Bass 1 into the normal input. Loops switched out, Bass 1 out of the output. Bass 2 into the 'effects return' of one of the loops. Select the loop - output is bass 2 - no sound from bass 1 because there's nothing coming out of the 'send' . Bass 3 - ditto but into the other loop. Use the loop switch to swap between basses 2 and 3. I guess the obvious way to figure this out is to try it, but in the meantime can anyone find a reason why this won't work? I know there may be gain issues but I think it should be possible to balance the volume controls.
15.
Hi Is this still for sale ?
Hi Frannie, I can't quite believe it either, but yes, it's still for sale. Drop me a PM if you want to chat.
16. Gotta go - gotta go and listen to Little Stevie and his band. Stunning bass and the guy can play it too - who is he?
17. I am not really one for listening to jazz, but I did enjoy some of the things that Barbara Thompson released with Paraphernalia
18. Yeah but, the Bass Cellar?
19. I can't imagine what would cause someone to part with something like that. If it was me, I'd be buried with it. I send the guy a message wishing him good luck with the sale, and he came back to me straight away. Seems to me that it's 100% genuine, and he's 100% nice guy. HappyJack, if you're still looking for a Jazz to invest in this has to be the one!
20.
Careful Ross, all Jon is offering you is the truth. Take the blue pill and you'll wake up safely at home and in bed.
ROFL
21. Only need one. Roland V-Bass.
22. An "I really want Dougal's Carvin' bump
23.
No problem mate all went pear shaped anyway as the thing wont work now! I have given the buyer a request for a refund which I presume he will want,Looks like a future ebs pre-amp and some new pups once the new stingray arrives and has been paid for.It was going to be an option anyway.
Don't waste your money on the EBS. The Artec SB3 is a brilliant fit with these instruments, I have one in my 465.
