There are exceptions but I cant name one at the moment. I have an EBS which I bought second-hand on this forum. I think a 2x12 will give a better sound than a pair of 1x12s - the drivers seem to work better in a bigger box. The other factor in all of this is your budget, of course!

For less than the price of either one of those Roland Combos with 4x5" drivers. Why on earth do you need a 300W cab for bedroom playing? 100W is plenty, just back the gain off!

According to the manual, the LGs are 2 x 500 Watt into 4 Ohms, not 1000W into a single 4 Ohm load. What the OP probably needs is either a pair of 500W-ish 4 Ohm cabs, or two 350W-ish 8 ohm cabs. I suspect you wouldn't really notice the difference in overall volume between running each side at 4 or 8 ohm. When I had a technical question about a piece of Ashdown gear, I emailed the support line and got an answer back the same day. I suggest that rather than guess, or spend a load of money on something you don't need, it might be worth doing the same.

I used to work with a guy who used to cart all his diving equipment, excluding cylinder but including everything else including weights on the back of a Triumph Tiger by using a large plastic box bungeed to the seat and a big backpack. I've transported my Tecamp Puma 110 combo on the carrier of my folding bicycle once or twice, although admittedly not for very long distances. I think you could bungee one of these onto a reasonable carrier and it might fit into a big top box or pannier.

Neck is 7.20 KOhms, bridge is 7.25 so I reckon that's close enough. I have 3 Bass Collections: the 460 is 1995, the SB310 is also 1995 and the fretless (SB321?) is 1991. All three have completely different electronics and none of them have the trim pot that Laurence has on his 330 . Only the 460 has the gain switch, same as Bassbunny's. The 310 has all the electronics on a single board, with 3 normal pots, rather than having it distributed over a number of circuits on each pot like the other two. Clearly it's all quality hand-made guitar circuitry, none of your production-line stuff here. Some of the soldering on the 460 isn't great either - it looks like I did it. They don't call me 'blobby nobby' for nothing you know!

+1 to going secondhand. RayAgainstTheMachine has an Eden Nemesis 250 in the For Sale forums which will be a much better gigging proposition than an of these.

I've just picked my 460 up from Paul Glazebrook who as usual has done an excellent job of sorting the action, polishing the frets and generally setting it up nicely. I'm overjoyed - so playable and just a nice object to have around. The neck pickup makes a rich powerful dark sound with a decent amount of punch, but the signal from the bridge pickup seems weak in comparison. Not sure why this might be, any suggestions welcomed. Here's a shot inside the control cavity, the blend pot is top centre. Is this any help? Here are a couple of pictures, not very good quality but you get the general idea. Mods, if you're reading this please can we have this thread re-stickied? Besides being as Jack said one of the major sources of information on the net for SGC Nanyo basses, it attracts a steady stream of new recruits to the site and has more than 14,500 viewings!
