  1. Pretty please. It's been a few years since the original presentation, which opened my eyes. 51m0n's review of the Becos Stella is here:
  2. Valve trombones are availble for the short-armed, although you aren't allowed to use them in national brass band competitions. I really struggle with trombone - the air seems to go straight through them. I think there is more back pressure with a tuba or euphonium.
  3. What kind of Yamaha BB is a Peavey T40? Thought not. Please go and start another thread.
  4. Not trombone but tuba. How can you tell the trombone player's kids in the playground? They can't swing, and don't know how to use the slide!
  5. I have a Stentor Student Bass - is that a 1950? It also appears to have a D neck, unless I'm doing it wrong.
  6. I've been to Peach guitars several times, bought a couple of instruments and attended some of the 'evening with' sessions they run, including Matt Schofield. I've always had good service from them, and since I'm 30 miles away I'd ring them anyway to make sure they were open and had what I was interested in in stock before making the journey. I'd do the same with Bass Direct Although they are not a specialist bass shop, the website lists over 200 basses currently in stock, from Cort, Epiphone, Fender, Ibanez, Jackson, Martin, PRS, Rivolta, Schechter, Squier, Sterling by Musicman, Warwick and Yamaha. I'd be surprised if many local music shops, or indeed anyone outside the specialist bass shops, can match that. For guitars and guitar amplifiers, the stock they carry is huge, millions of pounds worth. I don't think there can be many actual shops in the UK who can offer similar levels of stock. They have suffered from opportunistic thefts, and I don't blame them for implementing decent security.
  7. Sure does. Welcome to the dark side.
  8. I'm surprised that no-one so far seems to have mentioned Gabriels, I really enjoyed their set and thought they were outstanding. Apologies if I've misssed a prior mention. 3/10 to the BBC so far. Terrible sound mixes for Macca and Alison Krause, no coverage of the Acoustic tent whatsoever. Delaying the Macca set by a whole hour to fit in an extra episode of Casualty - what's all that about?
  9. I think these are a way of allowing youtubers to get around YouTube's rules for monetising of videos. Google been clamping down on a lot of channels which repeat stuff without creating content. These are a way to claim that they are creating new content by displaying someone's 'reaction'.
  10. I'd give it until Sept - Oct 2022 until 17.99 a month kicks in and see how many venues are left after that.
  11. @Silvia Bluejay https://gigrealm.com/for-venues/ Venues get 12 months free, then 17.99 / month.
  12. THat's what I do with my Nathan East, or use a very short cable that connects to a wireless transmitter in a pouch on the strap.
  13. Mike Walsh, @Cosmicrain, makes a lovely Precision pickguard. You could do worse than ask him what he has in the way of red tort.
  14. You'll have as many original members as they do 🙂
  15. The Double Four can be run off a laptop battery. The Briefcase I have runs off a lead-acid gel battery similar to a small motorbike battery or UPS battery, 12V 7Ah. Or you can connect any external battery to the terminals with a couple of banana plug cables.
  16. i've had this too. My Yamaha "starter bass" is a BBNE2.
  17. Long-term, apply some surgical spirit to the area once a day for a couple of weeks , that will build up some resistance. Wait till the blister has healed though, it hurts like hell on fresh wounds!
  18. It's faulty in that case. Probably why you got it cheap.
  19. I have an MS60B and it works fine on 2 AA batteries (3V). Manual says it will run for about 7 hours, though I haven't tested it. USB voltage is always 5 V. So I guess there is some circuitry that will increase or decrease the input voltage from 3, 5 or 9 Vdc to the working voltage, whatever that is.
  20. If you're not doing a lot of slapping and popping, there shouldn't be too many high freqency peaks to catch you out. You might find that a high-pass filter such as a thumpinator will tighten up the low end and protect the speakers without the complications of getting compressors dialled in properly.
  21. Russian. And French. A complete waste of time in both cases. Don't worry about it Nilorius your English is better than many of the native speakers.
  22. Will thier version be called a 'Flabbatar' ?
  23. I drew the line at anything by Coldplay. But really, if you're playing that kind of music you don't have much say in what you get to play. I've just rejoined my old brass band. If you think the modern covers band repertoire is a problem, wait until you hear Frank Baernarts take on it. There's no point in being precious about it, if you are then as BigRedX says stick to originals, or traditional music.
  24. The Double Four will fit comfortably into a 35litre Mountain Warehouse backpack. I bought a second-hand one from somebody on here and picked it up on my motorbike.
  25. Originally this would have had a crossover at 3500Hz for the tweeter. This often got modded, or the tweeter removed altogether. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/by-request-how-to-bypass-the-peavey-410tx-crossover.78034/
