I'm still in shock as well and apparently its hit everyone who knew him hard. I'm still trying to get in contact with Maria so I can pass the wishes of everyone on.
Good luck with that. I didn't know him well, but I remember him from way back, bassworld days. Awfully sad, please pass on my condolences along with all the rest.

I don't know why people don't seem to get excited about these - better quality than a late '70's Precision and 1/3rd the price. I love my BB800, wish I could justify buying this one.
For those who have magnetic pickups and piezos, what controls is your bass equipped with to mix the two options? Separate volumes? Anyone got a blend between the two? Simply an on/off switch for the piezos? Or maybe a switch that has options for magnetic pickups only, piezo only and both together? Also, what do people do with eqing the two signals? Is it standard to have a separate eq for each, or just for magnetic and not piezo? Mark
I have a Dean Bromberg which has 2 jazz style pickups and a Fishman piezo bridge. There's a 3-way toggle for piezo only, magnetic only or both. There's a master volume on the guitar. The magnetic pickups have a volume control each and there's 3-way EQ. The piezo has a separate volume control but no EQ.
Pete, don't tell me you also do the Vanilla Fudge version!
Unfortunately not. The Kim Wilde version. Blush.
It is an american, I have been asked to point this out by people who have offered me £200 for her. Ebay end of the week chaps!
That really is taking the piss, even for a Tribute. Have a bump for a really nice bass. If the neck is of slimmer dimensions than the Tribute, I'd be interested to know.

I guess it depends on what you're covering. In my covers band we have some stuff for which a synth is very handy (Keep me hanging on, Aint Nobody, I Kissed a Girl), some requiring envelope filter and compression (Canned Heat, Twisted), bit of chorus occasionally comes in handy (Feelin good, pretending to be an upright bass), distortion (Standing in the way of control, shut up and drive). I also have an octave down pedal but I find I'm using that less and less since I switched to 5-string. And a good tuner is handy. Of the multi-effects, the only one that appealed to me was the Boss one, the ME-50B ? It's configured like a bunch of stompboxes so I think it's more usable in a live situation, if your brain works in a stompbox kind of way.
It's 520mm or 20.5" plus the thickness of the finish and the corners, so about 525mm all told. Couple of shots here with a 19" rack on a Big One: http://www.barefacedbass.com/thebigone.html Alex
Bit top-heavy then. Burman is 700mm wide. -
vintageised Big One, done! Alex
Very nice. How wide is it? I'm trying to visualise my Burman Pro 4000 sitting on top of one. -
i'm feeling the wizard thumper.
The thing about Wizard is that if you ring Andy and explain to him exactly what it is you're looking for, he'll custom-wind something for you if the stock winding isn't going to give you exactly what you need. -
Funny thing is,altho' I haven't heard him speak,I find him misunderstood and very intelligent and of course an awesome player.
I have. Trouble is, he'd rather talk than play, and he's so full of crap that when he dies we can give him an enema and bury him in a shoebox!

I guess we were lucky we survived the '60s/'70s, not knowing this stuff. Then again, who had an amp more than a whopping 50W ? OBBM is right again, film at 11.
The fan seems to be running fine. I'll give Alex a call tomorrow. I went direct to Proel as I called the Bass Merchant yesterday for advice and I was told they would just go straight to Proel, so I might as well. As a point of interest, Proel immediately told me the problem was that I was using two cabs. I heard them saying that my head needed 'the mod'. A known issue? In a discussion with a second person they then said that I was running the head below 4ohms and that was the problem (as EBS advertise the 112s as 8ohm cabs, but they probably aren’t). They even wanted me to test the impedance of the cabs!
And how do they expect you to do that?? What utter cack. Nevertheless, your contract is with the shop you bought the head from, not with the importer. Sale of Goods Act as amended etc. It's their responsibility to sort it out. FWIW I've been using an LMII with an EBS 2x12 (4Ohm) , which is exactly the same thing you have but in one box not two, with no problems. There's no way this can be blamed on the cab.
I had a long chat with the guys at EMS over in southend, very helpful they even offered to take some fuse holders off a V8 board for me, great guys and very knowledgeable. On their recommendation i found the parts i need at RS components, i forgot about them in their opinion the power valves are unlikely to salvageable so any KT 88's that you would recommend?
I'm very happy with the JJ Tesla KT77s I have in my Burmans, so if they make a KT88 it might be worth considering.

If you're looking to invest, buying any of this, or anything else new, is going to lose you a fortune. Resist the lure of all that shiny sh*t, check out your options and then watch for stuff on this forum. That way you shouldn't lose too much. The market for old Fenders seems to be on the floor at the moment and will pick up at some point.
But in your case I'd say you're better off without them - I liked the comment about "going onto the next level" - Where's that, then? Bigger social clubs??
ROFL. Wigs? Plus one for sentiments previously expressed, you're better off without them and you'll find it easier to get another band than they will a competent bassist.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I should be able to find something there. mini pots are fine, the existing pot is one and there isn't a lot of room in the cavity for anything bigger!

I need to replace the pickup blend pot on my Bass Collection SB310. The existing pot is a 250 KOhm , but I can only find 500KOhm replacements (at axesrus) . Can anyone tell me what difference this will make?

Cheating slightly: it wasn't last night and it wasn't my gig! I went to see Darren of Bass Merchant fame playing with Dirty Trix in the newly re-opened Ipswich Railway on Saturday, and it was an excellent night. The bass sounded immense.

Put it on myspace, link to it from your website.

I have been following Elom's custom bass build, by Ben of Crimson Guitars, with keen interest. It'll be very interesting to see how it turns out. There's a thread somewhere in the build forum.
