  1. I have one similar to that which is OK for thin combos, but some bass gear is of sufficient depth (dimension wise) that it moves the centre of gravity over the front leg and the whole thing becomes very unstable. My Puma combo fell over , so I stopped using it. Another option is to consider a folding workman's platform from Toolstation or Screwfix, comes in handy at set-up time for putting up lights and PA stacks as well as being an amp stand.
  2. Well OK, but why this and not a genuine BB1200, which was used to produce those sounds and would set you back about the same amount?
  3. I think it must have been around 1979 when Rotosound Piano-wound became available, the ones where just the central core passes over the saddle. I remember being amazed at how clear the tone suddenly became with a set of those bad boys on my BB800 . Prior to that it had all be flatwounds, and even those bloody awful Black DIamond nylon tape-wound sound-killers.
  4. Yes, I have a PJB briefcase and it's a really good bit of kit. I use mine mostly with double bass, but have also used it with a band rehearsal and it just about coped with a quiet drummer. Being able to run it off a battery for an hour is another useful feature. I'm even getting used to the farting noise it makes when you turn it off. I also had a double four for a while, but gifted it to an elderly friend who was struggling with the size and weight of his previous combo. Amazing to think that kit this compact can make such a big sound.
  5. Or use google instead - add site:www.basschat.co.uk/forum/19-basses-for-sale to your search string
  6. Had some great service from Swan in the past. https://www.swanflight.com/
  7. I could be wrong, but I thought it was linked to the block on posting replies, which admins can also do but normal users cannot.
  8. I don't think you can start a new thread in the Guitar section. I think your best bet is to list them in 'Accessories and other musically related items for sale'. Or on Guitarchat.co.uk
  9. In this area, it doesn't matter how many people are in the band. A band with little or no name or reputation will struggle to get more than £200 quid, bands who've been playing the venues regularly and packing them out might move up to £250 - £300 .
  10. One like this maybe: https://www.redlineacoustics.com/index.php/component/virtuemart/hgh-electric-banjos I was hoping for a acoustic version .
  11. Be an interesting banjo that would fit in this banjo case: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114710290432?hash=item1ab5442000:g:uY0AAOSwj4FgPjQF
  12. Thought you were a 'strictly only 3 basses, one in one out' type of guy. What happened?
  13. Very tastefully played, whatever it is. http://www.guypratt.com/discography/jimmy-somerville-to-love-somebody/ If that was Guy in the video he hes really let himself go!
  14. Oh bother. That's only just up the road from me.
  15. Thanks for the info. Eagle Music have them, and also Aquila 'Nylgut' which I've not come across before. I'll add a pack to the next strings order.
  16. Which strings did you use? I might give that a go on my older banjo.
  17. Here's a lovely version of a tune I'm working on at the moment - guy has converted a modern banjo to gut strings which gives it a very different feel.
  18. Zoom B1 Four or one of the older MS-60B would do that job nicely.
  19. Back in the day, it was the first thing you took off and threw away, along with the ash trays.
  20. The legendary waynepunkdude managed to fit one into a Vauxhall Corsa.
  21. You could try a good high-pass filter, such as a Thumpinator.
  22. Some packets of silica gel in the cases wouldn't go amiss. Not sure I'd want to do this with my prides and joy though.
