I don't think there's any octave up. It's pitched where you would expect it to be pitched for a bass guitar. Stainless round wounds, maybe a hex core?

I'm hoping it reaches the asking price: my 465 will be worth about 4 times what I thought it was, if so!

Definitely a Musima, and a 3/4 not full size. I have one identical, my old man bought it in 1971.

Best buy at the moment is Clarky's CIJ Mustang in the Basses For Sale section.

+1 for these guys, my son has a couple of their pedals for guitar and they're superb quality. Is Martin Owen still building pedals? https://www.owenelectronics.co.uk/

I think the modern steel strings don't help. When I had a Hofner bass in the '70s it had black nylon strings which were lower tension.

For a time I used a studio rack compressor in the effects loop, to compress all the signal all the time. This was with a Markbass head, and I had to set the effects loop to serial, otherwise half the signal will bypass the loop. Other than that, I can't see the point. Most effects produce instrument-level signal rather than line-level signal, and are designed to go through the pre-amp gain stage. Some work in a loop, some don't or fail to do what you expect.

Trying to track down an ashdown mini rig
pete.young replied to Foureyes's topic in General Discussion
Pretty sure that's a guitar amp, not a bass mini-rig. The original version of the mini-rig did have two separate 10" speakers, but it didn't look like that. It was called the Perfect 10, here's an old thread with a picture. -

Have you had a look at the Ampeg Micro-CL, similar concept. -
I'd like to think that he'll slip Nic Jones a few quid to make up for the shameless appropriation of Canadee-i-o, but I'm not holding my breath.

I have an AC-60. The manual says: 4. PHANTOM switch This turns the phantom power on and off.Set this to “ON” when connecting mics that require phantom power (condenser mic, etc.).Set this to “OFF” when connecting mics that do not require phantom power or other devices.

He'd have to change his name to Tony 'kin'ell .

Even narrower - the OLP is 16.5mm . There is a Nordstrand replacement pickup specially designed for it. I had one of these for a while too, very playable. If the OP is looking for a new bass, a Yamaha 235 should be on the list of basses to try.

What's the best way of rehearsing remotely / online?
pete.young replied to Teebs's topic in General Discussion
And right on cue, I've just had an email from them saying they are going to start charging for the service from January next year. There will still be a free version, but it will be limited to 4 hours per week, 1 hour duration and 4 participants with no recording, so really only any good for trying the service out. Looks like it will cost upwards of $5 / month for a basic useable service. -

I have been experimenting with JamKazam and it works very well. I just plugged my mac plus into the router, followed the set-up steps and it worked fine. It does seem to need reasonable upload speed but since I went onto 100Mb FTTP it's been rock solid. I use an old and cheap Presonus Audiobox USB which I picked up second hand on basschat several years ago, so you don't need to spend a lot of money to get something that works. -
I think the 206 was fitted to a lot of SGC Nanyo Bass Collection basses. My 325 has a gold one, I think the 310 has a black one but my son has borrowed it so it isn't around to check. This definitely applies to the Japanese models, not sure about the later Korean or Chinese models. I don't have any spares for this, but one of the serial Bass Collection hackers might be able to help you out. Maybe @TheGreek knows someone? Or you could try the 'Build Diaries' forum .

Well, I play in a Pogues tribute band, so what do you think I'm going to say? This, obviously:

LEDs on a non-latching footswitch are a good challenge. You need a circuit (maybe a flip-flop) to keep track of the status. I was looking into this when I built a 4-way switch, one latching, three momentary, for my Roland AC-60 acoustic guitar amp. I got as far as ordering some components but that wa as far as I got - didn't have a circuit that I believed in.

@walshy What happened to the one with the Status Graphite neck - did I fall asleep and miss something??

I've had some good results removing sticker glue from hard cases in the past with mayonnaise. Sounds bizarre but after a couple of days soaking it took most of the residue off. Never tried it on a bass though.

Cheers Russ, will post it tomorrow.

Some years ago now, a friend was very proud of his upcoming broadcast on Radio Blackburn. He told his mum but she missed it - she listened to Tony Blackburn instead!
