  1. They do come up second-hand in the market place here from time to time, though I don't think there are any currently for sale.
  2. That's good. I've played outside there a few times (under a gazebo), a perfect way to spend a sunny sunday afternoon. It's a great venue, and I've no complaints about Grain beer, it's very good.
  3. Have to say I've never had much joy with screw extractors, especially on small-diameter screws. They frequently break, and if that happens you're totally screwed because the hardened steel is very difficult to drill out. I've resorted to spark erosion before now, to get one out of a VW cylinder head.
  4. Do you know what's happening with the Locks Inn at Geldeston since Grain Brewery took it over? It used to be a great gig when Colin was in charge, but Grain Brewery have a poor track record in this respect IMO (they stopped all the music in the Spreadeagle in Ipswich when they took that over).
  5. Is it perhaps connected to the ability to reply to threads, which is also disabled in that forum?
  6. I gave my grand piano away. Absolutely no second hand market for anything that isn't Yamaha, Steinway or Bosendorfer.
  7. On a more positive note, the amazing Gail Ann Dorsey, with some help from the dodgy-looking geezer in the green shirt.
  8. Buy @Happy Jack's Magnum III. Dubtastic.
  9. Mike Walsh, a.k.a Zoot Guitars and purple-chili.com , made it from a blank sheet.
  10. I could be up for a trip from Ipswich, depending on the date of course. Would you mind reminding us where the venue is?
  11. Slightly surprised to see this. Would you like to say any more to help me understand? I've been using a pair of EA VL110s which are definitely full range cabinets, and they sound great together.
  12. New tort pickguard for my CIJ not-for-export, thanks to Mike Walsh for his craftsmanship and expertise. I can now get at the truss rod and see the LED when the P-Retro is charging. Happy days!
  13. Well, I've been thinking for a while that I need a new guard for my CIJ Precision that would allow me to use the LED so I can see when the Pre-Retro needs a charge, and this motivated me to contact Mike. This was delivered a little while ago and doesn't look half bad! Thanks to @Cosmicrain for an outstanding job and @GreeneKing for the inspiration.
  14. Walkabout Scout, Mesa Boogie, definitely does. You can run it totally clean or progressively introduce warmth, almost bordering on drive. I sold my DHA when I got mine, and have only missed it a little bit.
  15. My guess would be that the big one on the outside is the sleeve, the shortest of the other two is the tip and the other one is the ring, for either stereo or for switching on an active circuit. One way to check is with a multimeter, have you got access to one? If you plug a lead into it, you can check continuity between the tip on the free end of the lead and the tags on the socket.
  16. The Apex, or Suffolk? They've played the Apex a few times, but none of them live here, though Telfer is just down the road in Essex.
  17. Hope so. I think there's been a slight but steady decline over the last 10 years, important venues like the Mulberry Tree and Spread Eagle have gone, the Steam Boat Tavern isn't putting on nearly as many events as it used to, pubs in the surrounding countryside are closing or going gastropub. The Smoke House has been a great success, but is limited to 80 and selling out most gigs and there's a dearth of bigger options between that and the Regent. There's no sign of a venue like the Apex in Bury St Edmunds, and many of the smaller acts that can't fill the regent pass us by. Bilbo is fighting valiantly to make some quality jazz happen in Felixstowe, fair play to him!
  18. Plenty of good reasons to move to Suffolk, but the music scene in Ipswich is not one of them. It's dying on it's ringpiece.
  19. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gibson-Ripper-L9-s-1976-1-Owner-from-being-sold-new-In-1980-Jan-2020/264601062573?hash=item3d9b73ccad:g:e9cAAOSwk8JeIMsL
  20. Bluetooth definitely isn't a windows 8.1 thing, I've used bluetooth with Windows 7, so it's fine if you have the hardware support.
  21. Could be a toasted voice coil. I had problems with my TecAmp Puma 110 not long after I got it, and the original fitment driver turned out to be a mid-quality Sica unit. It was badged Tecamp but had a code number on it which looked like a letter Z followed by about 7 or 8 digits. That allowed me to identify a potential SIca replacement from the specs published on line. Mine got sorted out by Tecamp in the end and has been fine ever since (touch wood!) . If it happened again I wouldn't attempt to see out a Sica replacement, I'd go with Phil's suggestion of Beyma or Faital.
