Vertically Oriented 2x10 Cab - Front Ported?
pete.young replied to acidbass's topic in Amps and Cabs
EBS Neo 210 is almost vertically aligned and front-ported. There's a used one in the classifieds if you're quick. -
There is a whole world of great lessons on Youtube. I've personally found Geoff Chalmers 'Discover Double Bass" , particularly the beginners section, and Matt Rybicki's channel to be very clear and helpful. I'm sure others will have recommendations if self-study is what you like to do. https://www.youtube.com/@DiscoverDoubleBass https://www.youtube.com/@LearnJazzBasswithMattRybicki

Normally the requests I get are physically impossible. Have you seen the size of a double bass scroll? Once when I had a gig with an Elvis tribute, a guy came up to us and asked if we would do a request, and could we please play 'Blossom Ar$ehole' . Blank looks all round. "Sorry, we don't know that one" . "You must do. It was one of his greatest ever hits". "Can you sing us the first few bars?" "Weel Blossom Ar$ehole what's wrong with me, I'm itchin like a man on a fuzzy tree ... "

Splendid. I can tell you all about my new gig as a piano player in an Irish ceilidh band.

I heartily applaud the modern fashion for writing everything in C and making every deviation from the major scale an accidental.

Spotify Previews No Longer Work

How about a Firefox clone such as librewolf? You might also be able to use containers, although that's probably going to involve some tinkering with the existing installation and I can see why you wouldn't want to do that. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/multi-account-containers/ -
What's the bass/instrument you have had longest?

Some SGC Nanyo Bass Collection genes there. I should leave the decal, especially if it's the only identification. -

I put mine into 4ch mode and use it as a 4-channel mixer. -
Alexei Sayle already nailed that one. "There are two kinds of jazz, and they're both crap!"

The bass I've had the longest is my Yamaha BB800, which I bought second-hand in 1979 from the estimable Charlie Carter, who ran the Sounds Acoustic music shop in Chester Rd, Manchester. The instrument I've had the longest is the English concertina that I started to play in 1974. 50 years this year. Kin 'ell. -
I've done this with my TecAmp Puma combo for years and never had any issues with feedback.

That's a fine example of what I'd expect to see labelled Americana, but to me it's not a bluegrass band. No fiddle, no 5-string banjo, no mandolin. The definition for bluegrass is pretty narrow and doesn't include accordions.

I play in an old-time Appalacian band called East Creek Union. We've played at Red Rooster, the sadly defunct Orwell Bluegrass festival and Folk East. This year we're doing Maverick. Red Rooster in particular has a very wide ranging definition of "Americana" encompassing old-time, bluegrass, country, blues, rockablilly, new orleans style street jazz, country rock and people like Pokey Lafarge who dont' really fit into any category. I like going to Red Rooster, I hear a lot of acts there I wouldn't otherwise come across. The UK America Music Association who I believe are invoved in booking acts for Red Rooster and maybe other festivals too. We certainly can't get a sniff despite having played there in the past. They have slots at certain events for members to apply. I was thinking about joining, but I don't like the T's and C's which require you to sign up to a Continuous Payment Authoritty (CPA), I'm not keen on that idea.

Suspicious Reverb message - anyone seen this?
pete.young replied to ead's topic in General Discussion
Why would anyone blindly follow a QR code, especially for something important? You have absolutely no idea where you are going to end up. Security 101 - don't use QR codes! -
The pickups look like the bridge pickup on a TRB5P, or an RBX 550 . None of the RBXs seem to have that scoop at the end of the neck that extends past the end of the curved fingerboard. RBX fingerboards seem to be square with a truss rod at the end of the neck.

Another Zoom H4 user here. Does the H1 have any inputs to take a feed from the bass? I can only see one 'microphone' socket which presumably replaces the built-ins. -
Size is 10mm but it's a fine thread. It'll still work without the nut. Put the strap on the button, then clip the straplock onto the button on top of it.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, in England and Wales you have 6 years from the date of purchase to seek a remedy from the retailer, for goods which have failed within a reasonable lifespan for the product. This is independent of any manufacturers warranty. After 6 months you have to demonstrate that the equipment has failed prematurely.
