Beware the induction loop lest it interfere with thy single coil jazz pickups!
-
It'll stop if it's a series loop. If it's a parallel loop, there's a blend of loop and pre-amp signal gets sent to the power section, so the dry signal will still be heard. If it is a parallel loop, you probably don't want to put a HPF in the loop, which is where I was going with this. You want certain effects to affect the whole of your signal, not 50% of it.
-
When the effects are in the loop, if you unplug a cable in the middle of the effects chain, does the noise stop or does it carry on?

From what I can tell, prices start from 3,900 Euros for a basic 4-string model. We're not exactly comparing like from like here, which was partly the OP's point.
-
OE Strings are listed as EXL170-5SL which are single-ended. Looking at the pictures it seems that there is a clamp at the headless end with normal fitment in the bridge and there is no requirement for DBE strings.

Stew,, is the effects loop series or parallel?

String spacing on the 6-stringer is listed as 17 mm . " ... and the saddles are adjustable for string spacing +/-1.5mm ... " Not sure what that means in practice - I guess you could take the 5 string down to 17.25, which I'd say was on the narrow side of medium. Fabulous design ideas, about the only way they could have pushed it further would be to make a single-cut neck-through. I will keep an eye on the second-hand market in 6 months time.

Not used the Rumble 410, but I have used the Bassman Neo 4x10 which I thought was an extremely good sounding and well-made cab.

Celestion Speaker in Fender Bassman TV 15
pete.young replied to Volunteer Department's topic in Amps and Cabs
Ask the guys at Celestion. They are very helpful and knowledgeable with queries like this. Email [email protected] . I'd be looking at the Pulse 15 which has a slightly higher Xmax.- 6 replies

When I bought a TRB5P from the basschat legend that is @bassmanady , he had three of them and we sat down and played them all one after the other to see which one I liked best. And they were all subtly different, despite being in theory identical basses with only a difference in the colour.

Oh yeah, forgot about the revolving door in the Kings Hall, Herne Bay. I went round with my upright bass 3 times and ended up on my back on the floor of the lobby with the bass on top of me. Much to the amusement of the door staff.

The Royal Horseguards Hotel, near Northumberland Avenue. Nowhere to legallly park, load in down a narrow set of concrete stairs into the basement, through the kitchen (whilst they were doing a live table service) dodging portuguese waiters, up 2 floors in a cranky goods lift with those slide-across doors (also being used for the food service) and into the venue. Load out much easier, the Liberal Club which also forms part of the building had closed so we were allowed to load out down the huge front staircase.

What you actually want is the speaking length. This will be the same for a fixed BBOT bridge but will be longer than the scale length if you have through-body stringing or a tailpiece. For example my Duesenberg is a short-scale bass which uses medium-scale strings.

Mine is 3.8 Kg or a shade under 8.5 lb.

Wrong. It's a humbucker-humbucker config, those are not single coil Jazz pickups.

I really like DR Sunbeams on my Precision.

BBNE2 copes with it no problem.

"Rhythm Stick" Verse: issue moving to/from to the E string
pete.young replied to Baceface's topic in Theory and Technique
This is great advice. Rhythm Stick on a 5er can be played in more or less the same position all the way through, except the little run up and down in octaves at the start of the chorus. Across not down! -
Mine arrived this morning. What a bargain. Too good for the guitar, think I'll use it to live in instead!

What do you consider an "acceptable" weight?
pete.young replied to Newfoundfreedom's topic in General Discussion
You all need to man up. I used to have a tenor banjo that weighed 12.5 Kg. -
The fix for this is not to bother attaching the straplock to the strap. Just put the strap on the pin as normal, and then fit the straplock over the top. Grolsch has been withdrawn in the UK and many supermarkets have already run out of stock, so they're becoming harder to obtain. I guess a trip to Bulgaria to stock up might be an option.

My SGC Nanyo 5-string weighs 8.4 lbs, and that includes an ebony fingerboard. They do come up second hand occasionally. The 4-strings are around 7.5 bs. -
Pub near us has just re-opened and re-branded itself 'Dukes Ipswich'. Formerly the Grand Old Duke Of York. Could be co-incidence ...

I suspect that whatever it is, the Bartolinis are not original. The lack of control plate is interesting. The body, particularly the arrangement of the controls and the cover plate on the back reminds me very much of a Jim Reed Jazz that I used to own, but the neck's clearly wrong. Could it have been a neck swap? Doesn't look like one, it was a good job if so.
