The 13th South East Bass Bash - Sunday 20 October 2019
pete.young replied to Hamster's topic in Events
It was great to meet some old friends and put some new faces to Avatars. Just wanted to add my thanks to Nik, Hamster, Mrs. Hamster, Cetera, Pete and everyone else who helped out. -
Somebody was using one of the Boss units at the SE Bass Bash and it seemed to work very well. This Harley Benton unit seems to do the same thing and is less than half the price of the boss unit - anybody tried one? https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_airborne_instrument.htm

I think Tune. The jack socket is in the wrong place and at the wrong angle for it to be a Bass Collection.

That's outstanding. Wonderful. Thank you for sharing it.

Hey Roger, that looks great in sunburst and is pretty rare. Glad you found one!

The BB2005 is a great bass in it's own right, but there are significant differences which no doubt contribute to the difference in price: Both are made in Japan, but the BBNE2 is assembled in the Yamaha custom shop by Yamaha's best craftsmen; Completely different pre-amp; Completely different pickups - the BBNE2 are dual-stacked humbuckers, the BB2005 are single coil (at least according to the spec sheet https://www.manualslib.com/manual/539175/Yamaha-Bb2005.html?page=11) BBNE2 has an ebony fingerboard, BB2005 has rosewood. I think there's a lot more to it than the label.

Transport for your Double Bass
pete.young replied to ihaveafewquestions's topic in EUB and Double Bass
When I was at school, the primary method of transport was Dad's car, eventually my car once I passed my test. I've recently adapted a golf trolley to take a 3/4 bass, but I wouldn't attempt to go a great distance with it, and it would be a nightmare on the tube.- 20 replies

Vintage MIJ (formerly J@pCr@p) Spotting
pete.young replied to Bassassin's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
To be fair, that was my mistake - it wasn't advertised as Japanese, Taiwanese or anything else. I thought it was interesting, even if it isn't Japanese. Is it possible that some of these 'Kay' instruments were made by Teisco and re-branded for the US market? -

About time this thread got a bump. Interesting Antoria P and a good cause - wonder what horrors are lurking under those ash trays? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Antoria-Electric-Bass-Guitar-Made-in-Japan-With-carry-case/362776228672?hash=item547725f340:g:dbYAAOSwePpdnca2 A CIMAR (probably not Ibanez!) Don't lose the tape! Very cool programme, well worth a watch even if you're not a massive reggae fan.

I'm not an HR bod, but you are wrong. There is no law forcing a company to advertise internally or externally. There is a law that prevents employers discriminating against internal or external candidates. Depending on the organisation, there may be local agreements in place with trades unions to advertise vacancies internally before going external.

25 Metre 20/4 way multicore snake / stage box for sale. Sorry but not looking for trades. Ideal for moving your mixing desk off the stage. 20 'sends' (stage to mixing desk) with XLR female sockets and 4 'returns' (mixing desk to stage) with XLR male sockets. All the cores have been tested for continuity by me using a line tester and work fine. One of the 'Returns' male sockets is missing a pin on the 'ring' connection. In practice this doesn't give any problems when used for a monitor feed, since these are normally unbalanced. Replacement sockets are only a couple of quid and don't take much effort to fit, but I've never got around to it. £85 Now £60 collected from Ipswich. I may be able to ship this at cost, but it's quite heavy.

Yamaha MG206C analog mixing desk + Swan flight case. The mixer is in excellent condition, everything working with no dead channels, sticky sliders. The mixer has lived in a Swan flight case for it's entire life and doesn't have a mark on it. The flight case has one or two scratches but is otherwise in excellent condition. Also includes clip-on LED spotlight for those dark pub stages. Specifications: 20channels 16 mic inputs 12 mono line inputs + and 4 stereo line inputs Phantom power switch (+48V) 3-band mid sweep EQ (Ch. 1-8) 3-band EQ (Ch. 9/10-15/16) 6 buses (Stereo and 4 groups) 4 Aux sends (up to 3 can be configured as pre-fade for monitor outputs) 2 stereo Aux return Neutrik XLR Connectors Input trim gain High quality mic preamps HPF 8 compressors Illuminated CH ON switches 60mm Super smooth fader Monitor mix Lightweight (6kg) 12-segment LED level meter Rackmountable Price £300. Sorry but not looking for any trades. I can also ship this in the flight case at cost. Collection from Ipswich is preferred. I also have the manual and the original shipping box. If you don't want the flight case you can take just the mixer for £250 and I can still ship, again at cost. I can take it to the South East Bass Bash if anyone would like to see it, and I'll be visiting Birmingham a couple of times over the next few weeks so can arrange a meeting. Pictures (happy to take some more on request):

For sale, no trades please: HH Studio 60 Bass Combo Mosfet-powered bass combo from the '80's with 15" speaker. 3-band parametric EQ with bright boost and built-in compressor, headphone socket and speaker extension jack for 4Ohm minimum extension speaker. Headphone socket, line-out, effects loop and a pair of sockets labelled 'Bi-Amp', no idea what they do and I don't have a manual. Although nominally 60W, these appear to be old-school watts. I've used this combo with a trio of loud drummer and Fender-twin powered guitarist, and it quite happily kept up. Only thing against it is the weight - 22 kgs. Happy to ship to the UK at cost but collection is probably the best option. Pictures (happy to take more on request):

Fender Jazz Medium Scale Japan ***** NOW SOLD****
pete.young replied to elvis100's topic in Basses For Sale
Obbm is looking for something like this in the 'Wanted' section. Year is 2012, according to https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/articles/214343783-How-can-I-find-out-when-my-Japanese-made-instrument-was-manufactured- "In 2012, Fender has transitioned the numbering scheme again with the new serial number starting with “JD” followed by an eight-digit number with “Made in Japan” decals. If your serial number starts with “JD” followed by an eight-digit number, the first two digits designates the year of manufacture. However, there are some exceptions in this transition period in 2012. “JD + 8 digits” and some of instruments with “U + 6 digits” are also built in 2012. JD + 8 digits 2012 and on going" -
What's the next step up for me? Bass options
pete.young replied to Friskydingo's topic in Bass Guitars
For Fender, I think the best bang/buck ratio is to be found with the not-for-export Made In Japan / Crafted in Japan instruments. They crop up for sale on the forum occasionally - there's a '62 RI CIJ Jazz in the classifieds at the moment. Or maybe a Yamaha - a 734 perhaps. Peach Guitars probably have one of these in stock. I played Loremil's 434 a couple of weeks ago, beautifully finished instrument with a very comfortable neck. -

( Not the First) East Anglian Bass Bash (EABB) Saturday 2nd November 2019
pete.young replied to jonunders's topic in Events
Fair enough. Thanks for trying, as everyone has said. Maybe we should look at doing something in the Ipswich area - would that work better for people? Kind regards Pete -
Might also be worth a look at JJ Tesla's KT88s. I've not used them, but I've had good results with their KT77s.
-
Plus one to that, I'd suggest you have a chat with Andyjr1515 . If the bridge can't be raised it might be possible to plane off 2mm of the existing fingerboard. Perhaps the way that Overwater make fingerboards isn't compatible with something that's already fixed to an instrument?
-
Maybe the band had nothing whatsoever to do with placing the ad? It looks to me like something that an acquaintance who thought they were helping out would do.
