  1. Some weird auto-correct going on there - should have said 'ahead of the pre-amp'. Apologies.
  2. There are hundreds of threads about this. Generally, loops are intended for line-level (ie rack) effects. Most pedals work off instrument level and belong ahead of the dream. Just because guitarists do something does not mean it is actually a good idea - the 64 million flies argument applies.
  3. Basschat breaking new ground, as ever. I'm looking forward to spending some quality time in the banjo shop. And I believe they also stock accordions!
  4. These are great tuners for tuning the instrument, but using one to work on your intonation? I don't see how that's going to work, you need to use the tuner between your ears for that.
  5. Simon is the guy who makes Matt Schofield's guitars. Seriously good stuff, great choice.
  6. Doesn't seem worth imposing the task of vetting messages on the mods. Never mind, thanks for looking into it.
  7. Sorry guys, I won't be able to make it this year: I'll be sampling the delights of Huddersfield that weekend! Have a great time 🙂
  8. Sorry, still not seeing it. Macplus with Safari. Am I doing something wrong?
  9. That bridge reminds me of something- maybe an early OLP? Should be able to pick one of those up for £150 - £200 , preferably a later one with a better bridge. Jack's right, there are far better things you could do with £230.
  10. Think you're getting warm. I believe guitarists may use these leads also. Better safe than sorry.
  11. An observation: my LMII is class AB and doesn't seem to add any audible distortion. Is this true for all class AB?
  12. John Levoi knows his stuff. The FG-180 was legendary in its day for being a great sounding guitar for not much money. I think Paul Brady used to play one. If it sounds good, I wouldn't worry.
  13. If you are really lucky, a MIJ or CIJ not-for-export model will come up on the second hand market.
  14. Iron Ether FMeron, maybe? A VB99 will also do it, but there are other issues with using one live.
  15. Effects loops run at line level voltage and are intended for rack and studio devices which do likewise. Pedals mostly run at instrument level voltage and are intended to go in before the pre-amp. They may or may not work properly in an effects loop. Suck it and see. There are exceptions: for example pre-amp pedals will usually run OK in the effects return. The other consideration is whether you have a parallel or serial effects loop. If it's parallel, you get a blend of the clean signal and the loop signal. This might not be what you are expecting. Markbass are set up this way by default but can be changed with an internal jumper to serial.
  16. Didn't realise you could still get Cascamite. My old man used to build canoes with it, 50 years ago. Certainly is watertight!
  17. From memory, there were two on-off switches for the pickups and two different tone settings, one bassy and one trebly. There is also a slider under the bar for overall volume. The long bar under the pickups was a finger rest. It was a push-fit into two holes at either end, and could be lifted out.

RIP Dave Hall, electronics wizard and a member here.
  19. Acoustic Workshops link is 404.
  20. Just wondering if it is possible to enable the Bump button in the Items Wanted forum, without having to switch on the apparently troublesome replies.
  21. I had one of those for a while, before I decided a career in Irish music beckoned and traded it for a bouzouki. Oops. Whattamistakatomaka! From what I remember it was a great sounding bass and nice to play, certainly a lot nicer than the Vox Wyman heap of stinky poo which preceded it.
  22. I think so - I'm wondering what the alternatives to Anderwood might be for a nice Weissenborn lap steel.
