  1. Reckon Ernie Ball is right. I have a set which look identical on my Bass Collection fretless, 40 - 95. Think theyre these: https://ernieball.co.uk/guitar-strings/bass-strings/slinky-flatwound-electric-bass-strings#2815
  2. I can only see the same as SpondonBassed. So can you get the indiividual LEDs to light up in sequence, so you know where to put your fingers?
  3. The value of your submarine can go up as well as down!
  4. These are very rare in 4-string guise, and this one looks to be in great condition with original case and a D-tuner. Someone please buy it so I don't have to! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-TRB-4P-Red-Sunburst-1992/142837173294?hash=item2141c24c2e:g:KbMAAOSwNu9bJ6N3
  5. Superb work, congratulations. The battery holder looks like a very neat solution, where did it come from please?
  6. I'll be playing with Waxies Dargle on the University of Suffolk Bowl Stage, rounding off the action at 7.00pm. Anyone else involved?
  7. The GL 2500 Tribute that I used to own had 16.5mm string spacing. US models might be different.

    Bass synth?

Some great suggestions here, most of which fail the 'cheap' requirement by some distance. I'd go with Bigwan's suggestion of the MS60B or B1on. There are a couple of OK synth patches, which can be surrounded in the chain with the other bits and pieces to make them work better ie octaver, EQ to help with tracking, chorus and delay to fatten up the sound a bit. Or you can chain together the various fuzz, envelope filter and octave effects. Another option might be the Ibanez SB7 in the Effects For Sale section. Or do the sensible think and buy a cheap keyboard synth.
  9. Ha ha, so apart from the colour, the string spacing, the shape and the humbuckers, what have the Romans ever done for us 🙂 At least we can rule that one out then.
  10. I like the idea - get in touch with your inner Hooky, so to speak. Here's an OLP. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232809502171?ViewItem=&item=232809502171 Mm. I quite like that colour, might buy it myself if I wasn't so busy trying to get my head around my new Weissenborn.
  11. A couple more random thoughts: Schechter Hellcat VI, has a nut width of 42mm (so maybe too similar to the revelation?) Also OLP used to make a 30" scale instrument the OLP MM5, which looks more like a proper bass than a baritone guitar. Not sure on the neck width though, and these were discontinued some time ago when OLP was shut down so you might have to look for one on the second-hand market.
  12. Available in Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, and Made In Texas Medium.
  13. You're welcome - I spelt it wrong, its www.noteflight.com .
  14. It makes me think of 'Sheep may safely graze' by JS Bach, but it's not that. Is there a semiquaver missing after the 'dot' ? Not impressed with musipedia. Noteflite is much better. And has proper bar lines and time signatures.
  15. Vintage V300, new for not much more than your budget, and second hand should be easily achievable.
  16. I have a H4. it works well for this situation in double stereo mode: I use the built-in mikes to get the main mix and a feed off the vocal PA to boost the vocals. Then dump both channels into Audacity and export a single audio file. I don't think the built-in effects are as good as something you'd get in a DAW.
  17. Do you use the upper register? If not, buy another 4string and string it BEAD with the bottom 4 of a 5-string set.
  18. Probably sound OK with a decent rig, including a sub.

    U-Basses

If you're looking for a fretless, this end of line deal is a bargain. I played one of these last year and thought it was on a par with the Kala, and sounded excellent when amplified through a PA. https://www.hobgoblin.com/local/sales/products/XXHO00013/ashbury-fretless-ubass/

Still scratching my head over the M87 comment - you must have had a dud, mine is completely silent. I'd say the Keeley to go for is not the Bassist, but the Keeley Pro.

  22. Yes, it's nut to the saddle, the length of string that vibrates. 'Elsewhere' is wrong. 32" is medium scale.
  23. That should work - a jack plug on the mixer end, a jack and a trailing socket on other end. Plug the jack into the IEM unit (you can leave this permanently rigged up) and plug the monitor jack-jack cable into the trailing socket.
