1. They were using the workshops in the basement of the shop on the corner of Denmark St. - used to be Chris Bryants? Somewhere on this forum is a posting by Happyjack about a visit to them.
2. Whatever you think of Jools, surely you have to admit that 'Sounds Like Friday Night' has redefined the concept of crap music tv shows.
3. +1. We built a clone of this and the kit cost more than that. Insane pedal too.
4. Slightly better bargain than this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WEM-Watkins-original-Starfinder-4-x-12-Guitar-Cabinet-empty-like-Pink-Floyd/263288161825?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D49131%26meid%3D983b6f4e60844d5dba9b398b4f9bf886%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D362125211624&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 - bloody hell, 1600 quid for an empty WEM cabinet, what is he smoking?
5. I'd recommend you take a good look at this: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/314131-ibanez-srf700-portamento/
6. The main advantage of using more speakers is that you move more air. I'd be looking for a second hand Markbass LM2 or LM3 in the classifieds and run it with both cabs.
7.
why dont you contact ashdown and ask for the price of a new speaker? Their customer service is great.
This.
8.
I don't pretend to know the figures, but with those 3 brands they've probably got over 50% of the market covered (though suprised no yamaha in there).
Very few of the London stores have any stocks of Yamaha - it's much easier to go to Yamaha Music London in Wardour St, they have virtually everything in stock there, even a BBNE2.
9. Philly is looking for a cheap 5string in the Wanted section.
10. I had one of these for a while - bought for my son when he was much smaller. They are very playable and sound surprising good. 45 quid is a bargain.
11. I agree with Yorks5stringer, there's so much casual sexism on this forum and people refusing to believe they're being offensive even when told to their faces. You'll be telling us that the prisoners have taken over the jail next.
12.
+1 22nd would be a nightmare for Happy Jack, Bluejay, MacDaddy and Paul the Drums ... we're gigging that night in Leighton Buzzard!
That might still turn out to be a nightmare even without a bassbash.
13. Have you also changed routers? If so you might need to open up some more ports on the firewall to enable the connection. Try copying the exact error message and pasting it into google.
14. What a bunch of lightweights. My tenor banjo is 12 Kg. The heaviest bass guitar that I've seen was one with a marble body, made by a student at Newark as an experiment. I'd guess that was a failed experiment, judging by the number of marble-bodied basses you see these days.
15. Marvellous news, well done everyone especially Hamster, Nik and all the other people involved in setting this up. Looking forward to seeing you all again next year.
16. In their own minds? All of them! For me, the stand out guitarist who didn't get the respect he deserved is Nic Jones, especially from Bob Dylan.
17. Very nice bass but I think the price is fair rather than bargain. The last one on here went for £450, which was a bargain. This is a BB2004, neck-through, rosewood fingerboard and nice block inlays but not to be confused with the Nathan East signature BBNE2, which has 5 strings (there's no 4 string version) ebony fingerboard and very different pickups. Not sure how the electronics compare.

19. A Bose L1 system with at least one big sub will sound very lovely indeed, but it won't be cheap.
20.
I would expect any sensible person to at least pencil something in on a date that has been enquired about.
That mostly works: where we've come unstuck is when we've given a lot of dates to a venue, and not heard anything back from them. You end up holding a lot of dates sometimes.
21.
What level of IT ability is required for a drummer to operate this?
I see where you're going with this, and Paul would be disappointed in you! It still relies on IT-illiterates letting the band leader know when they're not available, (wheresthegig calls this setting blackouts). They'll also need to be able to read emails. The application sends out updates to all the players at a gig when an update is made, so you can cope with deps and use it if you're in more than one band.
22. I do believe Cairobill was looking for something like this in the Wanted forum.
23. We use www.wheresthegig.com to try and avoid situations like this.
24.
That's the first bass Collection 5'er i have seen with a P/J configuration.
I had one, I got it from psychoandy and traded it to skezza. I believe he still has it. Think it was a 415 - translucent red. Nice instrument, cant find the for sale thread.
