It makes me think of 'Sheep may safely graze' by JS Bach, but it's not that. Is there a semiquaver missing after the 'dot' ? Not impressed with musipedia. Noteflite is much better. And has proper bar lines and time signatures.

Vintage V300, new for not much more than your budget, and second hand should be easily achievable.

I have a H4. it works well for this situation in double stereo mode: I use the built-in mikes to get the main mix and a feed off the vocal PA to boost the vocals. Then dump both channels into Audacity and export a single audio file. I don't think the built-in effects are as good as something you'd get in a DAW.

Do you use the upper register? If not, buy another 4string and string it BEAD with the bottom 4 of a 5-string set.

Probably sound OK with a decent rig, including a sub.

Yes, it's nut to the saddle, the length of string that vibrates. 'Elsewhere' is wrong. 32" is medium scale.

That should work - a jack plug on the mixer end, a jack and a trailing socket on other end. Plug the jack into the IEM unit (you can leave this permanently rigged up) and plug the monitor jack-jack cable into the trailing socket.

@Briton, I think he's talking about 6-string acoustic guitar, not acoustic bass. I've used D'Addario phosphor bronze for years and years and mostly use EJ16s. I have one guitar which usually has 10s due to it's advanced age , but even that has been furnished with some EJ16s for a Bb tuning (Bb F Bb F Bb C ) I think they're the best combination of sound, price and long-life. I have tried the coated, they last 3 times as long and cost 3 times as much, but you only get that lovely brand new string feeling once every 3 sets.

I think Bassace has one of these, I seem to remember it putting in an appearance at the SE Bass Bash a couple of years ago.

I have an EBS2x12 Neo, which is doing much the same for me as Osiris's Tecamp does for him. At the SE Bass Bash , a few years ago now, there was a 'blind' testing of a large number of 2x12 cabs. Don't have the link anymore, but I recall that the Bergantino came out very highly regarded. There are lots of people using 2x12s on the forum and very few people who are complaining about them, so i think it's pretty hard to go wrong whichever brand you chose. Being heard in the mix has more to do with how you EQ things and how successful you are in persuading your guitarist(s) to lose the bass frequencies, than the cab.

I can't honestly remember, it was a long time ago. I think that Rotosound were among the first to produce this particular design of string, though, and if the strings on the Ovation have been there a long time it shortens the odds. I loved the clarity and definition it gave the sound, in contrast to the flatwounds that most people were using at the time. You'll probably hate it. Kudos to The59Sound who also suggested Rotos, I missed his posting in the thread earlier. The modern version uses a different setup, which allows you to adjust the length of the winding-free portion by moving the ball end, so it fits on a variety of basses.

Yes, sounds to me like Presto. I have Presto Lights on my bass, they are low tension, don't rip up your hands and will still work with mag pickups so I'm told, I just have piezo. They also make a reasonable amount of noise un-amplified.

If you want to throw another maker into the mix, Rotosound Piano String Design http://www.rotosound.com/psd-bass-99/ These used to be called Superwound, I had some of these on my Yamaha BB in 1980! Good choice for an Ovation Magnum.
