1.
is that the cricket ground?i work out of the hospital just behind it.
Yes it is the cricket ground. I grew up in Canterbury and cycled past it every day on the way to school. Happy days.
 2.
What seagull do you have?
See post #12. This one. http://www.seagullguitars.com/en/products/52-s6-grand-sunburst-gt-qit
 3. I recognise some of these 'new' effects from the B1on .
 4.
Thanks, I'll see what reply I get from the retailer today and look into contacting the distributer then.
You shouldn't need to contact the distributor - your contract is with the retailer, they should do this on your behalf.
 5. Major Minors bootcamp articles on this very forum have a lot of great theory information.
 6.
http://www.guitargui...170125306619001 This has caught my eye...
That has the same electronics as my Seagull, which is also a Godin brand. The amplified sound will be excellent.
 7. Of those, the MXR was the best choice for me because of the monitoring capability, plus you have conventional controls for attack, release, threshold, compression and make-up gain. If you wanted to spend a bit more the Keeley Pro is probably as close as you can get to a studio rack compressor in a pedal, but is a bit larger in terms of footprint. If you wanted a cheap way to experiment, the compressor models in the Zoom MS-60B and B1On are very good, there are clones of the EBS, DBX166 and a couple of others to play about with.
 8.
Jools/Squeeze were about as punk as Boyzone, but that's what I mean.
On the other hand, he did play on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J34zX-JsOrI I'm struggling with the concept that adding a bit of prog would make the show look a bit less cliched :-)
 9. Ha ha. It was this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272674059246?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
 10. This looks like a good price to me, when you consider that one in not-such-nice condition with a missing knob went for £250 + on Ebay last week.
 11.
Aside from perhaps a sort of stuck-in-1979 sniffy contempt for the genre, I genuinely have no idea.
Jools is from the punk era. Sniffy contempt was the absolute minimum reaction to prog rock about that time. Interesting bass that Sheryl Crow was playing last night, some kind of short-scale Guild. Anybody know what it was?
 12. I have a Seagull Grand Sunburst GT Q1T. It's a small bodied Parlour guitar with a 14 fret to body neck and built in pickup. It beat similar sized and priced takamine guild and tanglewoods hand down and held its own with a larrivee 3 times the price. Sound and build quality are excellent. When we plugged it into a Roland ac60 the amplified sound was also excellent and really brought out the bass range. We even had someone trying an electric in the next room come in and complain about the volume! Based on my experience I would definitely recommend Seagull. If you dont want to spend more than £200 look at the Vintage V300, they are unbelievable guitars in that price bracket.
 13. Had my BB800 since 1980, and I'm sure there are plenty of people who can beat that!
 14.
maybe something to do with having to use open strings for a certain riff to make it work for example Living on a prayer in any key other than Em doesn't flow properly to me
You don't do the key change into Cm then? I sometime use 2 capos, when I want one on the first fret a second on the 14th fret in order to measure the clearance at the 7th fret to work out whether the bow in the neck is right. Other than that, no.
 15.
I believe that this is one of the later models - possibly a 100 - built after BC were first taken over.
I disagree. The serial number clearly dates it to 1988. It's not an SB100. There of some pictures of my old red one in psychoandy's for-sale thread. Someone did a fair bit of research and identified the 5 as a 400 series. http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1273893 The control plate is identical, down to the funny 'Made In Japan' sticker and the two additional screw holes in the middle of the plate, which are very unusual. The finish on the body is translucent and looks to be Sen. The fingerboard is ebony. These are all characteristics of the 320 and 400 series. The 300 series and the 100s usually had rosewood fingerboards and solid body finishes. I can't tell what kind of bridge is on SICbass's from the photos, It probably also has a brass nut. In the other respects it looks similar. Edit: I've also noticed that the difference between the two serial numbers is 17, so I'd guess they were made very close together.
 16. It looks very similar to the SB425 5string that I used to own, which I think Skezza still has. I'd say an SB420 from 1988, first two digits of serial number is the year. Pickups may have been changed too. They should have SGC in gold on them, can't tell from the pics if it's there, worn off, or not present.
 17. Withdrawn from sale. Please lock the thread.
 18.
Add I will survived to the set
"It should have been me"
 19.
I don't understand. You have two lovely and expensive cabs which you quite reasonably don't want to take to the rougher venues, but all the suggested replacements are of equally lovely and expensive cabs.
+1 . For cheap and indestructible you need a Peavey 410 TX or TVX, the TX I know works well with an LM2 so the TVX probably does too.
 20. Usual questions, how much do you want to spend, electric or acoustic and what are you looking to achieve? Acoustic 12s can be hard work to play and there's a lot of finger pressure needed. The best 12 I ever played was a Fylde Prospero. If I ever see one for sale I'll buy it. If you are looking for extra texture on recordings a six string in Nashville tuning can be an interesting alternative.
 21. Think this is bogus. No one uses flats. Mandolin strings are too short. Most banjo strings are loop end. I have an Irish tenor set with a .028 wound 3rd and a 5 string set with an .024 wound 4th and they are both just under 1 metre long. Your best bet is to contact Newtone and ask them to make you some specials.
 22.
Ron Wood
Seriously? Have another listen to Maggie May and get back to us! Think he was wearing 16oz boxing gloves and two blindfolds.
